The New York Red Bulls are one of 23 teams in Major League Soccer (MLS). They are one of the ten charter clubs of MLS, having competed in the league since its founding in 1996. They currently play their home matches at Red Bull Arena (RBA) in Harrison, New Jersey. RBA, a state-of-the-art 25,000-seat stadium, is widely regarded as the top soccer-specific stadium in North America. The club is owned by the Austrian beverage company Red Bull for which the team is named. The first team features 2016 MLS Golden Boot Winner Bradley Wright-Phillips, U.S. international Sacha Kljestan, and several players with USMNT experience. The New York Red Bulls offer one of the nation's premier youth soccer development programs, from local soccer partnerships across New York and New Jersey to Regional Development Schools and the Red Bulls Academy teams.
Provide day-to-day massage therapy to members of the New York Red Bulls first team and USL team as necessary in a professional manner. This will include all practices and games both at home and on the road. The therapist will work in coordination with the team’s medical staff and at the direction of the Head Athletic Trainer. Treatments provided by the therapist will fit in conjunction with the overall health care plan for the player determined by the medical staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Required to perform the job)
Ability to attend and be on time for all first team functions unless directed by the Head Athletic Trainer.
Ability to withstand the physical demands of extensive hands-on care for professional athletes on a daily basis.
Provide high quality soft tissue treatments to the satisfaction of the players and medical staff to promote recovery from injury and enhance recovery from the physical demands of soccer for the non-injured player.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities
Physical capacity to travel with the team and carry the necessary medical luggage without assistance.
Thrive in a work setting that emphasizes recovery from the physical demands of the sports as quickly as possible and understands the professional commitment of these players.
Proper usage and maintenance of all Club’s medical facilities and supplies.
Participation in all appropriate staff meetings
Ability to communicate to medical staff information regarding players’ health and injury status
Practice good hygiene as it relates to physical appearance and application of massage techniques
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current license to practice massage therapy in the state of New Jersey
- Previous experience working with soccer players or in the professional sports setting preferred, but not
- Proficiency in delivering sports massage
- Minimum 5 years as a licensed massage therapist
Due to the cyclical nature of the entertainment industry, the employee may be required to work varying
