Communications: Social Media
Manager, Digital - Philadelphia Union (Chester, PA)



  • Oversee the overall content strategy and content calendar for the Philadelphia Union, with platform specific execution plans for social, web, video and email.
  • Assure Non-Union Events and Bethlehem Steel FC (Union’s USL Team) are being supported, promoted and executed properly through digital channels
  • Manage two direct reports:  Social Media Coordinator, Web Content Manager
  • Serve as a liaison with MLS for digital


  • Develop and manage digital marketing campaigns to support key sales, partner fulfillment, lead generation, marketing and branding initiatives
  • Devise strategies to grow social media audience size and engagement
  • Devise strategies to drive online traffic to

Paid Media

  • Work with media agency to manage Union paid advertising campaigns (retargeting, search, social)
  • Monitor weekly ROI, analyze key takeaways from paid media for each game, make recommendations on future spends, optimize spends

Social Media

  • Oversee social media platforms, ensuring information is timely and matches with our content calendar


  • Responsible for regular website creation and maintenance efforts including game coverage, posting of articles, videos, photo galleries, landing pages
  • Conceptualize, design and code site pages using HTML, CSS
  • Utilize DFP to assist in ad trafficking duties for partner and internal requests


  • Measure and report performance of all digital marketing campaigns on a weekly and monthly basis


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or Journalism
  • Experience: 2-4 years of digital marketing/website management experience in content creation, analytics and proven results
  • Excellent analytical skills; ability to develop insights
  • Must have experience of Drupal - HTML required, CSS a plus
  • Understand current digital marketing industry/trends
  • Experience with Google Analytics and other tools such as Shareablee, CrowdTangle and native Facebook/Twitter insights
  • Experience in building and tracking paid marketing campaigns
  • Strong organizational and time/project management skills. Must be able to meet multiple deadlines at once
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends
  • Knowledge of soccer and MLS a plus

If selected for an internship with the Philadelphia Union the intern will be required to provide the following clearances:

  • PA Child Abuse History clearance
  • PA State Police Criminal Records Check
  • FBI Criminal Background Check
