The D.C. Position Overview:

D.C. United seeks a highly motivated individual capable of assisting the Community Relations Department with managing and promoting community development efforts – including assisting with community programs, executing donation requests, managing the team’s fan mail, and more. Additionally, the intern will assist in organizing and executing fundraising initiatives that benefit the team’s charity partner.

This unpaid internship is designed for individuals working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree or who are seeking relevant job experience in their field of interest.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the facilitation, and execution of community relations programs, events and fundraisers.

  • Assist with writing for the CR website and CR social media accounts as it relates to community relations programs.

  • Assist in the fulfilment of community donation requests.

  • Database management of donations and item inventory

  • Assist in match day activities including: auctions/raffles, managing the Tickets for Kids table and helping with special player appearance opportunities in and around the stadium.

D.C. United are looking for a content producer for the Digital Media and Communications department. The content producer will work with the communications team on creating written and social content and will assist the Digital Media team with email campaigns, website management, and social media.

Job Duties:

Internship Overview:

We are looking for students/individuals who are interested in gaining experience in grassroots marketing, event management, game day operations and day-to-day business operations. Students who are available at least 30 hours/week for 3-4 months are preferred. D.C. United accepts a limited number of internships to ensure that interns gain valuable work experience.

Essential Functions:

The primary responsibility is to provide weekday and game day assistance to the Marketing Department. Interns will be expected to assist with the following:

  • Lead-generation at grassroots events
  • Company vehicle maintenance
  • Collateral and premium item inventory
  • Mascot program
  • Lot 8 tailgate
  • Game-specific ticket promotions
  • Game day operations responsibilities, which includes working all weekend and weeknight games. Game day duties may include working on promotions, customer service, stadium set-up and teardown
  • Some responsibilities will include clerical work such as filing, data entry, copying and correspondence.

Supportive Functions:

Fan Ambassadors

The D.C. United Fan Ambassadors will work closely with Guest Services, Operations, Box Office, and Ticket Sales Staff to ensure an outstanding fan experience at all D.C. United Events. Overview:

District ’96 represents D.C. United across a variety of engagements, our District ’96 group is some of the most knowledgeable members of our sporting community. Through active fan engagement, they help provide memorable experiences to D.C. United supporters across the DMV and at each home match at RFK Stadium. Members will be asked to represent and promote D.C. United at a variety of events annually with the goal of enhancing the fan experience through positive, energetic fan interaction. These events include, but are not limited to: home games at RFK Stadium, special events, sports tournaments, partner appearances, festivals, mobile marketing vehicle locations, etc.

Essential Functions:

Members are asked to help with event load-in and load-out. As well as all operational needs and activation of the following elements while at events representing D.C. United:

?Handout premium items

?Facilitate on-site promotions

                                                                                                                                                             

?Interact with fans

?Communicate general information

•Responsible for fan engagement and data collection at each event.

•Assist with other tasks as assigned by Marketing Manager.

Specific Job Knowledge, Skill and Ability

 

The ideal candidates will reside locally and can begin work in February 2017. There are no guaranteed number of hours per week, scheduling is set on an as needed event/game basis. The opportunity is expected to last up to one year. Also expect opportunities to step into the mascot suit.

 

•Must be at least 18 years of age. High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

•Ability to lift and carry up to 30lbs frequently; requires prolonged standing.

•Required to travel frequently, bulk of travel is within the DMV area.

The D.C. United Guest Services staff is a part-time, seasonal group of employees who work all D.C. United home games and certain additional events taking place at RFK Stadium. Guest Services staff members work in a variety of different areas, including as ticket takers, ushers, premium attendants, and more. We are looking for people who enjoy interacting with others and are willing to go above and beyond to make our guests’ experience the best it can be!

 Position Summary

·   Work for D.C. United for the 2017 Major League Soccer season.

·   Hours available on game days ONLY.

·   Part-time, seasonal position that pays $12.50 per hour for all new employees.

·   Season runs from March through November.

·   Average games per month – 2 to 3.

·   Average hours per shift – 4 to 6 (10 to 15 hours per month).

·   Must be available to attend mandatory, paid training sessions.

 Position Responsibilities

·   Positions include ticket takers, ushers, and Guest Services attendants.

·   Responsible for greeting guests, scanning tickets, and assisting guests throughout the stadium.

·   Check guest tickets and provide directions to various locations within the stadium.

·   Monitor crowd behavior and ensure that ticketed guests find their seats.

POSITION SUMMARY

The individual in this role will be responsible for supervising a team of game day event staff dedicated to greeting guests, assisting them with questions, and monitoring crowd behavior.   The event staff supervisor will ensure that each guest enjoys the game without disruption from others.  D.C. United event staff supervisors will work to ensure that each employee is working their hardest to maintain the highest standards of customer service.  Our Guest Services staff strive to provide our fans with the highest quality soccer and entertainment experience in safe, friendly, and enjoyable environment.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

D.C. United is searching for a Guest Services Event Staff supervisor for the 2016 season (February through December).  This individual will be responsible for supervising a staff of ushers and/or ticket takers.  Duties include checking in staff, preparing them for each event, and ensuring that they are carrying out their job responsibilities to the best of their ability.  Must have excellent customer service, communication, and event management skills.  Must also have supervisory experience and the ability to manage a small team.  Previous event and management experience is required, preferably in sports. Knowledge of D.C. United and/or RFK Stadium is a plus.  Must be able to walk long distances, climb stairs/ramps, and stand for extended periods of time.  Alternative means can be used to complete these duties.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

  • Must be able to work all soccer events at RFK Stadium, including all D.C. United home games.
  • Must have previous experience managing people.
  • Must have previous experience dealing directly with customers.
  • Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Must have excellent customer service and communication skills.

  • Track and monitor analytics on multiple platforms and with an analytics dashboard
  • Create and track social media campaigns.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A sense of humor and strong awareness of social trends
  • Ability to proficiently and creatively use Vine, Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook
  • Strong interest in soccer and sports is a plus, but not necessary.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to travel to away games as needed and to various events around the community
