POSTION SUMMARY

The Director of Sports Facilities for Sporting Club, the parent company of Sporting Kansas City, is responsible for maximizing revenue and efficiency, overseeing and executing all activities and events at the Wyandotte County Sports Facility, a multi-sport 12 field complex opening in May 2017. This individual must assemble and manage a team that will oversee and execute all activities at the facility and any future facilities operated by Sporting Club, and will ensure all financial and operational goals be met annually.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Execute a strategic plan
  • Drive new business as well as maintain and grow current Sporting Club relationships
  • Manage a budget which includes revenue, expenses and contracts
  • Ensure facility is operating according to the mission, vision and values of Sporting KC
  • Foster and manage relationships with youth organizations locally and throughout the Midwest
  • Create and maintain relationship with our scheduling software company
  • Manage preparations of the facility for internal and external rentals and events to maximize revenue and profitability
  • Communicate and plan effectively with both internal and external resources, partners and vendors
  • Participate in hiring, termination, performance and salary reviews of all subordinates
  • Collaborate with Team Leads to ensure a high level of communication well in advance of events
  • Build bid-to-host packages for all sports at the facility
  • Be responsible for all elements and personnel associated with the operations of events and activities taking place at the Wyandotte County Sports Facility
  • Stay current with industry best practices and recommend modifications to operational plans based on feasibility

Position Summary

The Sporting Kansas City Brand Ambassador promotes Sporting Kansas City to ensure a memorable fan experience. The Brand Ambassador assists the Events Marketing Team with event planning, marketing and advertising; acting as the “face” of Sporting Kansas City and strengthening the brand with a natural connection to the community.

Essential Functions

  • Represent Sporting Kansas City, Children’s Mercy Park and other affiliates and partners as the Brand Ambassadors at events in the community yearround.
  • Set up, take down and transport the various elements of Brand Ambassador activation elements.
  • Engage fans by developing a rapport in a short time through natural dialogue.
  • Market Sporting Kansas City during events throughout Kansas City and its surrounding communities.
  • Create and update the database for all leads collected during events.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Part Time Facility Specialist will primarily assist the Engineering staff in the mechanical and general maintenance of all Sporting Kansas City facilities. This individual will help respond to breakdowns, diagnosing faults, repairing equipment, fixtures or fittings to reduce downtime.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Execute basic troubleshooting for power and lighting
  • Address basic plumbing issues with faucets, sinks, urinals, water closets, garbage disposals, dishwashers, showers, water fountains and hot/cold tubs
  • Assist in the preventative maintenance of HVAC systems including split systems, perimeter heat, residential and commercial rooftop units
  • Assist with seasonal cleaning, filter changes, grease & belts
  • Assist with commercial kitchen appliance repair
  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, problem detection and work on minor building projects
  • Paint, apply drywall and install wall paper, carpeting and tile floor repairs
  • Repair door closures and other hardware in the facility

The Fan Host for Sporting Kansas City assists fans in locating seats during events at Children’s Mercy Park and works to ensure crowd behavior is positive and supports an enjoyable experience for all guests.

POSITION SUMMARY

Sporting Kansas City internships allow college or graduate students to hold a temporary position within the organization, with emphasis on training and gathering practical experience in sports operations by doing a wide variety of different tasks assigned by their Team Lead.

The Event Operations Intern will gain hands-on experience performing a variety of roles within a fast-paced, behind-the-scenes environment, with the chance to have a direct impact on professional soccer in Kansas City. Sporting KC’s collaborative environment full of learning opportunities is designed to help all interns evolve as professionals, challenge their strengths and reach their fullest potential.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Learn how professional sports venues operate by collaborating with the Operations Team at Children’s Mercy Park with all hosted events, experiencing as many aspects of operations as possible
  • Understand the logistics and execution of special events including corporate meetings, weddings, holiday parties, special sporting events (i.e. college football, U.S. Soccer, rugby, soccer clinics, etc.), large and small-scale concerts or any other applicable event
  • Learn and participate in the organizational philosophy of having a pristine stadium for all events
  • Understand the logistics and execution of special, non-stadium events (not at Children’s Mercy Park) including video shoots, Swope Park Rangers games, corporate meetings at Three Points (an off-site event space) and events at the training facility
  • Assist stadium management during game day preparations including assisting with coordinating sponsorship activation on Sportin Plaza, ensuring correct signage is placed around the stadium, verifying that premium spaces are set up and transitioned at appropriate times
  • Attend department meetings to learn about the processes used to organize an event
  • Assist with game day presentations and operations including the National Anthem, Color guard, Military Family, halftime promotional events, giveaways, ball kids, Walk of Champions and Flag Kids
  • Lead special projects designated by the Event Operations Manager including taking inventory of game day staff equipment and being responsible for sponsor’s activation items stored at the stadium
  • Assist with a variety of office tasks including creation of plaza maps, diagrams and game profiles for Swope Park Rangers games, and updating spreadsheets
  • Assist with accreditation processes
