Sporting Kansas City is currently seeking an Associate Manager of Sporting Club Events to join our team. This is a critical role as the Associate Manager of Sporting Club Events is responsible for assisting in the management of stadium event sales, including developing and implementing strategic sales plans, projecting sales and establishing sales goals, and overseeing marketing and event development programs that target new and existing business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meeting established revenue goals by developing and implementing an event sales strategy that retains existing clients, grows our partner related business, and closes new business. This includes working closely with the Partnership Team to increase events through existing relationships; establishing key relationships with new and existing corporate clients to ensure maximum exposure and increased revenue; identifying key trends in the market and areas of opportunity and positions our business to offer compelling solutions; encouraging full usage of all available stadium facilities to maximize sales; and maintaining active involvement with outside groups to develop relationships with key event decision makers to increase event sales.
  • Maintaining and continually improving upon customer satisfaction to create customer loyalty, and delivering a positive and memorable event experience by regularly meeting with clients and potential clients, conducting stadium tours, and providing accurate and timely information to clients.
  • Preparing event proposals and directing negotiations.
  • Working closely with Legends Hospitality on all catering needs.
  • Executing events on site.
  • Assisting with the development and managing the event sales/marketing operating plan and analyzing and controlling expenses to conform to plan requirements.

Qualifications:

Facility Operations/Security: Custodial/Housekeeping
Building Maintenance Engineer - Sporting Kansas City (Kansas City, KS)

The Building Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the overall building maintenance of all areas of Children's Mercy Park (internal and external), including overseeing, planning, organizing, and completing all building services activities. This position requires a strong background in painting, touch up painting, drywall repairs, and an eye for detail. The position also requires someone who is skilled in the technical positions, such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc. The Building Maintenance Engineer will work in collaboration with the Stadium Event Operations Department, when applicable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures effective and efficient management, operations, and maintenance of Children's Mercy Park and surrounding property
  • Complies with and enforces safety and environmental requirements
  • Communicates and trains staff on MSDS and OSHA standards and safety procedures
  • Ensures quality service is delivered to patrons, vendors, suppliers, clients and fellow staff
  • Performs sheetrock repairs and painting/touchup painting as needed
  • Performs pool/hot tub maintenance
  • Performs semi-skilled carpentry work in the construction of remodeling, such as wall demo, new wall construction, building shelving or other organizational mechanisms for work and storage spaces
  • Inspects building and equipment for needed repair and maintenance
  • Operates forklifts and other necessary building machinery and obtains/maintains all necessary safety certifications
  • Operates drills, buffers, grinders, sanders, and other power tools

Qualifications:

  • Experience with HVAC, Building Engineering, Building Mechanical, Building Electrical is strongly recommended or closely related field, or five (5) years of related experience in building or facility management
  • Knowledge of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and appliance repair

We are currently seeking a Video Operations intern for the Summer of 2016. Video Operations produces the gameday television broadcast, in-stadium video board show, and a variety of web content. In this program, the intern will have the opportunity to participate in all facets of production and improve his or her knowledge of control room and production equipment and software by working day-to-day with staff at the production facility. The internship will also enable the intern to push his or her level of creativity through shooting, editing projects and creating graphics.

The ideal candidate will be a confident self-starter, possess strong attention to detail and take great pride in his/her work. The internship will challenge the applicant’s ability to multitask in a busy environment. The intern will be given every opportunity to learn all aspects of production, so the intern must be focused on broadening his or her video production skillset.

The intern will perform his or her duties for Sporting Kansas City for the number of hours required to earn his/her academic credit. The internship will begin following the 2016 Spring school semester and conclude before the 2016 Fall semester. Exact dates of the internship are negotiable. The intern must be available for home matches throughout the duration of the internship. The intern will be asked to commit to regularly scheduled office hours during the week and occasional nights and weekends These hours are also negotiable.
