Corporate Partnership Sales Internship Spring 2016 Semester - Sporting Kansas City (Kansas City, MO)

As a member of our corporate sales internship team you will be expected to serve as point of contact for current partners, renewals and prospects and is responsible for all sales process implementation.  Ensure that all facets of assigned sponsorship accounts are given service with professionalism, attention to detail and customized client focus.  This person will target a diverse group of important partners, renewals and prospects as well as internal contacts at all levels.  This position must support the organization’s mission, vision, and values by exhibiting the following behaviors: excellence and competence, collaboration, and innovation. THIS IS AN UNPAID POSITION.  Position will begin in January 2016.

Corporate Sales Intern responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Utilize client objectives and goals to develop and research promotional platforms and partnership strategies.
  • Create, track, develop and maintain all proposals, research, contracts and wrap-up books following Corporate Partnership’s processes and guidelines.
  • Compile, report, enter, collect, forecast, and track accurate account elements, billing, fulfillment and contact information, as well as reports pertaining to proposals, contracts, budgets, and other account details. 
  • Greet, support, and serve current and potential clients daily and at games.
  • Assist, support and coordinate with internal departments in regards to all aspects of promoting and managing all Sporting Club Franchise properties and other department responsibilities; including but not limited to, special projects and planning.
  • Create new business opportunities through connecting with prospective clients.
  • Take ownership and/or lead on designated projects and programs for both activation and sales.
  • Learn and implement the sales process from introduction to closure including the following: prospect research, securing the meeting, conducting the pitch, follow-up strategies, finalizing terms and signed contract. 

Required Skills:

  • Professional appearance, attitude, and communication skills as well as the ability to work with others is expected.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Power Point and other computer skills required. 
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and support multiple high level positions. 
  • Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and information.  
  • Strong teamwork aptitude required.
  • Strong customer service skills required.
  • Strong good oral and written communication skills and have the ability to work independently, and coordinate multiple tasks.
  • Flexible schedule; ability to work long hours.
  • Must be able to work all applicable home games during 2016 season.

Essential Duties & Obligations:

  • Assist the General Manager of the Swope Park Rangers and Marketing Manager of Sporting Kansas City on projects as assigned.
  • Provide day-to-day support for the marketing department, including overseeing the scheduling of all creative deliverables, ensuring that all work is completed, approved and trafficked in a timely manner.

  • Oversee execution of non-traditional initiatives and other events designed to promote the Swope Park Rangers and Sporting Kansas City brands.

  • Proactively seek information regarding industry trends, emerging technologies and content offerings that will enhance both brands.


  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • One (1) to two (2) years of experience in marketing or event planning
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and manage several projects at once
  • Outstanding communicator—both verbal and written
  • Passionate, motivated and willing to take direction
  • Strong creative, analytical and problem-solving skills

Sporting Stripes Youth Instructor - Sporting Kansas City (Kansas City, MO)

Sporting Kansas City is launching a NEW early childhood program (2-5 years-old) called SPORTING STRIPES! We are currently looking for outgoing, energetic and enthusiastic candidates interested in being Lead or Assistant Instructors. The Sporting Stripes curriculum takes a child-centered approach in teaching, focused on the early stages of Piaget’s theory of cognitive development all while enjoying the beautiful game of soccer!


  • Classes will be held at The Soccer Lot (2525 Jefferson St. Kansas City, MO 64108)
  • Classes are Saturday mornings 9am & 10am**
  • Ratio is 1 instructor for 10 kids 
  • Class breakdown: 2/3 years (parent-child), 3/4 years (beginners) and 4/5 years (advanced)
  • Dates are December 19, January 9, 16, 23, 30, February 20 & 27, March 5 &12**
  • Pay rate (per session) will vary based on experience

**Candidates must be able to commit to Saturdays between 8:00-11:00am during these times.


  • Lead and assist classes based on the Sporting Stripes Curriculum

Spring '16 Ticket Sales/Service Internship - Sporting Kansas City (Kansas City, MO)

Sporting Kansas City is looking for energetic interns with a flexible schedule (approximately 15-20 hours a week) who enjoy sports, sales and entertainment. Interns should be available during the Spring (approximately mid-February to early-June).

In order to qualify for the Sporting KC Sales and Service Internship a student must:

(1) Have junior or senior standing and be enrolled in a four-year degree program, or be enrolled in a graduate program and be eligible to receive course credit for the internship.

(2) Have a current cumulative GPA of at least 3.0

(3) Demonstrate high levels of leadership, confidence and innovation as compared to others in their peer group.

Any major is welcome but majors that would best fit the internship include: Sports Marketing and Management, Business or Communications. This internship is not paid, however there is an opportunity to earn class credit and possibly commissions.

Youth Soccer Intern - Spring 2016 - Sporting Kansas City (Kansas City, MO)

Sporting Kansas City is looking for confident, hard-working, and innovative college or graduate- level students who are interested in an opportunity to earn course credits toward the completion of their degree, while obtaining practical experience in the world of professional sports. We have redesigned our internship program to provide valued learning and training opportunities that can be applied throughout the sports industry, hands-on experience, and the chance to be immersed in the culture and brand of Sporting Kansas City.

We are currently looking for candidates interested in an internship with our youth soccer program. The intern will be exposed to the various elements associated with Sporting Kansas City’s youth academy program, athletic partnership program and other youth soccer initiatives, such as soccer clinics and camps. The intern will also be introduced to the behind-the-scenes operations of Sporting Kansas City home games.


  • Support the youth development team by gathering research for potential member organizations in the Sporting Club Network
  • Assist with partner activation and fulfillment on game day and at events
  • Hold coaching and/or administrative roles at SKC’s youth-driven events, including, but not limited to, camps and clinics
  • Assist in youth development department’s communications, online presence, & digital media (i.e. social media, event recaps, & blog writing)
  • Assist in fulfillment of Sporting Club Network and Academy Affiliate partnership program
  • Support the youth development team with the preparation, production and data collection of mid-season & end-of-season recap reports
  • Help organize, promote, and facilitate soccer clinics, camps, coaching education, and other community-driven events

  • At the time of the internship, have completed at least your sophomore year at a four-year accredited college institution or be enrolled in an accredited graduate program
  • Must provide proof that you will receive credit through the internship toward the completion of your degree

  • Available for home matches and other events throughout the internship session (primarily evenings and weekends)
  • Interest and experience in competitive sports is highly preferred
