Director of Partnership Sales - New York Red Bulls (Harrison, NJ)

COMPANY INFORMATION:

The New York Red Bulls are one of 20 teams in Major League Soccer (MLS). They are one of the ten charter clubs of MLS, having competed in the league since its founding in 1996.   They currently play their home matches at Red Bull Arena (RBA) in Harrison, New Jersey. RBA, a state-of-the-art 25,000-seat stadium, is widely regarded as the top soccer-specific stadium in North America. The club is owned by the Austrian beverage company Red Bull for which the team is named. The first team features 2015 Goalkeeper of the Year Luis Robles, 2014 MLS Golden Boot Winner Bradley Wright-Phillips, U.S. international Sacha Kljestan, and several players with USMNT experience.  The New York Red Bulls offer one of the nation's premier youth soccer development programs, from local soccer partnerships across New York and New Jersey to Regional Development Schools and the Red Bulls Academy teams. 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:
 

The Director for Partnership Sales will be primarily responsible for the following: generating potential partner and premium leads via networking and research, developing new business proposals, conducting presentations, managing fulfillment costs, negotiating contracts and securing new business to meet and exceed annual revenue goals.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Required to perform the job)

 

      Act as a leader and key stakeholder in NYRB’s commercial sales process.

      Define new business development vision and articulate a 3-5 year double digit revenue performance plan for the Corporate Partnership department.

      Work with new business development team to manage key category development and platform ideation for new partners.

      Regularly conduct cold calls to secure appointments to sell to new prospects among local and national brands

      Demonstrate superior communication skills including in-person presentations (one on one and large group format), phone and email along with additional social platforms

      Collaborate with partnership marketing and other organizational departments to continuously create and implement innovative platforms and assets that will provide incremental revenue opportunities for NYRB.

      Work with business development team to design high level vision decks and interactive practice pitch meetings.  Regularly identify and pursue opportunities that deliver mutual growth for new partners and NYRB organization

      Develop and maintain accurate reporting processes, procedures and partner database management.

      Provide support/direction to Partnership Marketing lead on each assigned account, including effective account handoffs and communication management

      Develop and track new individual revenue pipeline to present to senior leadership and ownership on a weekly/monthly basis.

      Provide career growth platforms, associate retention programs and continuing education opportunities to business development staff on a regular basis. Additionally, provide market research to keep up-to-date with current partner news.  Understand industry trends and competitive landscapes to enable effective positioning of partnership opportunities

      Serve as point of contact with MSG Networks and additional rights holders
 

      Provide weekly Director Report indicating status on all business development and department administrative action items.

      Coordinate any sponsor related projects as assigned by Senior Director of Partnership Sales or Chief Commercial Officer

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities

       Sales orientation, a "can do" spirit, and a team-first attitude

       Self-motivated, organized & focused sales professional

       Ability to work flexible hours, including but not limited to evenings, weekends and holiday’s

       Excellent verbal and written communication skills

       Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

       Knowledge & passion for Major League Soccer is a major plus

 

 

EDUCATION:

       College degree required

       Master’s degree preferred

 

EXPERIENCE:

       6-8 years of professional sales experience

      Experience in day to day management, specific to growing associates/peers.

      Expert time management skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines on numerous concurrent projects.

      Excellent spelling, grammar, proofreading skills, and a strong ability to communicate ideas both orally and in writing. Proficient in all Microsoft Office products and a myriad of third party research.  

       Experience in a sports marketing agency or property in the areas of sponsor sales or partnership       management preferred

Due to the cyclical nature of the entertainment industry, the employee may be required to work varying

This is a fantastic opportunity for those candidates who are interested in breaking into the Strength and Conditioning field. THIS INTERNSHIP IS UNPAID AND FOR CREDIT ONLY. PROOF THAT YOU ARE RECEIVING CREDIT IS REQUIRED. Working hours during the week are flexible (25-30).
