Academy Goalkeeping Coach - New York Red Bulls (Harrison, NJ)

COMPANY INFORMATION:

The New York Red Bulls are one of 22 teams in Major League Soccer (MLS). They are one of the ten charter clubs of MLS, having competed in the league since its founding in 1996.   They currently play their home matches at Red Bull Arena (RBA) in Harrison, New Jersey. RBA, a state-of-the-art 25,000-seat stadium, is widely regarded as the top soccer-specific stadium in North America. The club is owned by the Austrian beverage company Red Bull for which the team is named. The first team features 2016 MLS Golden Boot Winner Bradley Wright-Phillips, U.S. international Sacha Kljestan, and several players with USMNT experience.  The New York Red Bulls offer one of the nation's premier youth soccer development programs, from local soccer partnerships across New York and New Jersey to Regional Development Schools and the Red Bulls Academy teams.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Goalkeeper Coach will be responsible for working with goalkeepers within the academy and support the 1st team goalkeeper coach and Red Bulls 2 goalkeeper coach. This position will report to the Academy Director and First Team Goalkeeping Coach.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Required to perform the job)

       Support the development all academy goalkeepers

       Create specific development plans for all academy goalkeepers

       Create technical and tactical profiles of all academy goalkeepers

       Responsible for all goalkeeper academy team trainings and games

       Responsible for all Academy Goalkeepers

       Create a scouting network for all potential goalkeepers for the academy

       Link between Red Bulls first team, reserve team and academy

       Main link between New York Red Bulls and Red Bull Salzburg soccer clubs

       Create video analysis sessions for all academy goalkeepers
 

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities

       Minimum of five (5) years’ experience within coaching a professional sports organization.

       Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working within US youth soccer groups. 

       Strong communicator.

       Excellent presentation and written skills.

       Proficiency with all Microsoft Suite applications.

       Impeccable integrity and professional maturity: excellent business judgment.

       Collaborative management style – advocate of team concepts.

       Positive influencer, comfortable with leading dynamic change.

       Must be able to work long hours, weekends and some holidays.

 

EDUCATION: 

Desirable qualifications: Goalkeeping License

                                            A/B License USSF or equivalent

POSITION SUMMARY:

The New York Red Bulls have a Design Intern available. Will assist the NY Red Bulls Marketing team with the development and design of all advertising and design needs for overall marketing support including Tickets, Partners, Merchandise, Promotions, Community Relations, Field Marketing, etc. As a member of the design team, the Intern will be involved with the development and design of all needs as they relate to their accounts; including collateral design, apparel design, logo development, print advertising, outdoor, display, packaging, web development and more. 

Will posses effective time management, solid oral and written communication and interpersonal skills in order to develop strong working relationships.  Proficiency in MAC and other related graphic/creative software such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop. After Effects, Motion Design experience is a plus but not needed. 

This is an unpaid, for credit internship (proof that you will receive credit is required).

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

o    Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) growth

o    Learn how to work within a fast Marketing Dept, turning around projects quickly and efficiently.

o    Learn post-production

 

 

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

      Bachelor’s degree in the field of graphic design.

     Illustration/ Drawing experience is a plus but not needed.

     Adobe After Effects, and Motion Design experience a plus but not needed.

     HAVE ONLINE LINK OR PDF PORTFOLIO

      Proven solution-based thinking with the ability to multi-task, follow up, exhibit creativity and have the ability to act and design independently.

POSITION PURPOSE

The Event Marketing Staff position is designed to provide experience for individuals serious about pursuing a career in special events and event marketing.  The goal of the marketing department is to provide Event Marketing Staff with hands on experience in event management at the premier soccer club in North America.  The Event Marketing Staff schedule is driven primarily by the New York Red Bulls event schedule and remains flexible.  However, regular and consistent commitment to events throughout the regular MLS season is expected.

      Event Marketing Staff work directly with Event Marketing Coordinators during all events.  They also work closely with different New York Red Bulls and Red Bull Arena staff, particularly Event Operations Staff, during the course of each event.  They are directly involved in event preparation and activation, engagement with fans, overall event presentation, and enhancing the fan experience for all New York Red Bulls marketing activations and events. Event Marketing Staff are the face of the team and the club during all activations.   

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

-          Execute in-arena event marketing activations including but not limited to The BULLevard pre-match activation space, on-field match presentations, group sales activations, halftime presentations, special awareness and title night activations, and other major marketing initiatives on match-day at Red Bull Arena.

-          Serve as an essential club-to-fan representative for all New York Red Bulls marketing activations at events. 

-          Fully engage fans and inspire them while participating in all activations. 

-          Assist New York Red Bulls marketing team with all aspects of event management. 

-          Coordinate with other New York Red Bulls departments to ensure successful event planning and execution (Event Operations, Partnerships, Premium Services, Sales, Ticketing, Fan Services, Communications, Community Relations, Academy/Training Programs, and First Team Operations). 

-          Assist operations staff when support is required is setting up and breaking down events and equipment. 

-          Consistent season long event attendance is mandatory. 

-          Attendance at marquee club events and MLS Cup Playoff matches is mandatory.    

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

-          Individuals pursuing a career in Sport Management, special events and event marketing are preferred.

-          Must be able to multi-task and follow strict timelines.

-          Possess a strong work ethic, take a leadership approach, and is a self-starter.

-          Experienced in high stress, fast paced environments.

-          Succeed in a competitive team atmosphere. 

-          Able to lift 30lbs, without strain.

-          Comfortable being active for extended periods of time.   

-          Must be able to commit to a significant portion of the New York Red Bulls event schedule. 

Candidates who are able to engage easily with sports fans, who are detail oriented, and who take pride in event presentation are preferred.  A passion for soccer is a plus.

Description:

The New York Red Bulls are looking for a motivated and organized college student that will support the Company’s Finance department.  This internship is a great opportunity for those interested in pursuing a finance career, particularly in the sports industry.  As a Finance Intern, you will have the opportunity to shadow the Finance Director in his day-to-day responsibilities overseeing and managing all financial analysis, statistical reporting, and business planning for the Company. There will be a focus and emphasis on data gathering, financial modeling and analysis, and process management. 

We will accommodate your class schedule and coordinate with you to determine weekly working hours. Candidates will have the opportunity to attend Red Bulls regular season and playoff home.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

 

o    Learn about Financial Planning, Reporting and Analysis while working across department

o    Budget Support: Design and build tools to aide functional budget managers in forecast development and revenue/expense tracking

o    Analyze consumer and market data to develop insights while utilizing Red Bull’s mapping tools

o    Legal Contracts and Financial Deal Memos: coordinate with the legal and marketing/sales departments with new sponsorships, partnerships and agreements.

College credit is required for this position

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • This will be a fast-paced internship in which you will learn how to monitor and manage the financial operations of a professional sports team and venue. This will include:
  • Practically applying basic corporate finance and accounting principles in a real-world, sports industry setting
  • Employing best practices with respect to financial reporting and analysis
  • Thinking critically and “outside of the box” in developing ad-hoc strategic analyses to support business decisions
  • Communicating effectively and working cross-functionally across all business units within the Company
  • Becoming an Excel wizard!


SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

  • Proficiency with the rest of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and Adobe Acrobat is preferred.
  • Passion for sports industry and soccer is a plus!
