Bethlehem Steel FC is looking for passionate and dedicated game day volunteers for the upcoming 2017 season. As part of Bethlehem Steel’s game day volunteers, you will get hands-on experience of how a professional soccer game runs and operates. This is also a great way to network with executives in the Sport Management industry! These volunteer hours can be counted towards school Industry Hours, community service hours, networking opportunities or sign up just for the love of game!

Interns will be responsible for assisting the box office in day-to-day operations as well as front office operations and games and events support.  Internships with the Philadelphia Union will provide qualified interns with an assortment of valuable learning experiences.  Box office experience is a plus but is not required for this position. Sales & Marketing: Promotions
CTO, Chief Tattoo Officer - Philadelphia Union (Chester, PA)

Tattoos are a vital part of sport, fan and supporter culture.  Just as tattoos are for life, fans choose a club to passionately support for life.  As our club grows, players and staff are joining the Union from geographies outside of Philadelphia.  Given their love for tattoos and unfamiliarity with their new city, they often look for guidance in seeking a new, local artist. 

As a result, The Philadelphia Union are seeking their first resident tattoo artist (or full shop of artists).  Our CTO, Chief Tattoo Officer, will be responsible for providing services to players and front office staff.  Occasionally, fan events will also be held with the CTO for the most loyal fans who want a tattoo to represent their passion for their favorite soccer club, the Union.

REQUIREMENTS:

Location-

  • Must operate at a permanent shop of residency in the PA/NJ/DE market

  • If an individual artist, must have endorsement of shop owner to serve this role

  • If a full shop, must disclose participating artists (if not all artists will be part of program)

  • Due to player schedules, work may occasionally occur off-site at Philadelphia Union facilities

Skillset-

  • Minimum 5 years experience (post-apprenticeship)

  • Diverse skillset as needed by clientele  including American Traditional, Realism, Japanese and more

  • Must enjoy tattooing snake designs (after all, we have a snake in our crest)

Marketing-

  • Serve as a team ambassador, support the Union

  • Respond to press/media requests to talk about the CTO experience with the Union

As the Philadelphia Union Digital Content Intern, you will support the Digital Department. This internship offers the opportunity to learn and develop skills in digital communication and website maintenance on PhiladelphiaUnion.com and other MLS social media platforms. This internship reports directly to the Digital Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Produce 3-5 written content pieces a week
  • Contribute to the overall digital content strategy for the Club
  • Post Union related League content from MLSsoccer.com
  • Help create, manage, and execute digital content calendar
  • Assist in the maintenance & creation of ticket, partnership, community and fan web pages
  • Analyze digital performance data on PhiladelphiaUnion.com and social media platforms

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Event Operations intern will be responsible for executing Philadelphia Union events including but not limited to: grassroots marketing events, corporate sponsor events, soccer schools and all Union home games. The ideal candidate is a confident, hard-working, and innovative college or graduate- level student who is interested in an opportunity to earn course credits toward the completion of their degree, while obtaining practical experience in the world of professional sports.  We have redesigned our internship program to provide valued learning opportunities, hands-on experience, and the chance to have a direct impact on professional soccer here in Philadelphia. The Foundation/Community Relations Intern is responsible for assisting in all community outreach efforts and Philadelphia Union Foundation (PUF) projects. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: fundraising support, administration, project management, marketing and promotion, and research. Whether you are a top goalkeeper in the MLS like Andre Blake or you work in our Ticket Sales Department, the Union believe in constant improvement. We believe in training, training and more training! You’ll be coached by a leadership team that has a combined 40+ years of sports sales and management experience. They will be conducting your training and teaching you everything you need to know to perform at a championship level.

THE PITCH

This is a great launching point to begin your career in sports ticket sales. You'll be making phone calls, scheduling meetings, and attending events with qualified Union ticket prospects to sell them ticket packages. You’ll develop and manage relationships while providing exemplary customer service. The majority of your time will be spent in the office but you may work various community and in-stadium events along with all of our 18+ home games. We don’t expect you to already understand how to sell tickets. We’ll provide you with first class training and support to help you be successful.

MAIN DUTIES

1. Make 90+ phone calls per day to qualified prospects with a focus of generating full season and partial season ticket sales
2. Manage relationships of both ticket package accounts you sell as well as inherited accounts
3. Be available to work up to 18+ home games
4. Other duties as assigned

Technical Services: Audio/Video Editing and Production
Motion Graphics Designer - Philadelphia Union (Chester, PA)

OVERVIEW:

The Motion Graphics Designer will be responsible for all content creation, design, and animation for the video board and LED ribbons at Talen Energy Stadium, digital, broadcast, and Bethlehem Steel FC.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Write, produce and edit original content
  • Create storyboards for video and graphical work
  • Create animations for video displays at Talen Energy Stadium
  • Design new graphics for all video outlets
  • Maintain video archive
  • Shoot video & edit content for features, highlight videos and future use
  • Assist in the execution of the gameday production for all events at Talen Energy Stadium
  • Work closely with other internal departments (marketing, sponsorship, communications, etc.) to fulfill video and animated graphical needs
  • Research current events, trends, music, pop culture, tying those ideas intro our production workflow
  • Create animations for Bethlehem Steel FC for use on their social platforms

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience preferred
  • Experience with a professional sports team is a plus
  • Advanced knowledge of non-linear editing (Adobe Premiere Pro preferred)
  • Advanced use of Adobe After Effects
  • Cinema 4D proficiency
  • Graphic design skills required (Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator)
  • Prior experience wirh Chyron and other control room software is a plus
  • Experience with DSLR and Cinema-style cameras
  • Lighting and set design is a plus
  • Audio and sound design is a plus
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at a time with tight deadlines

The Partnership Marketing Intern will be responsible for assisting with fulfillment of partnership elements such as promotions, grassroots programs, tickets, VIP events, and autograph requests as well as the front office day-to-day operations. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Player Operations: Coach
Philadelphia Union Youth Coach (U8-U11) - Philadelphia Union Youth Development (Wayne, PA)

Union Youth Coaches support the Union Youth Director and Union Youth Head Coaches in conduction of Union Juniors Academy (U8-U11) training at YSC Sports, and assist with Union Youth Training Programs. Union Youth Coaches are assigned team(s) to coach during competition in their age group.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The primary goal for all Union Youth staff is to develop, prepare, and identify players for the Union Academy while implementing an environment that develops sustained love of the game for all participants.
  • Union Youth Coaches are responsible for helping coach teams in one of the U8-U11 in accordance with Union Youth Development’s vision, values and philosophy.
  • Union Youth U9-U11 Coaches will assist in training three times weekly during the fall and spring, and twice in the winter (one of those nights featuring multisport activity). Teams will compete once on the weekend, participate in two tournaments, and participate in friendly competition versus MLS clubs and other regional teams.  The U8 age group will train twice weekly in the fall and spring.  The season extends 36 weeks.
  • Union Youth Coaches are responsible for supporting the execution of the training program for their assigned Union Pre-Academy age group as advised by the Union Youth Director and their age group’s Head Coach.
  • Union Youth Coaches will implement the curriculum and technical methodology program of Philadelphia Union Youth for their age group as directed by the Union Youth Director, Academy Director, and/or the Philadelphia Union Sporting Director.
  • Union Youth Coaches will support as Union scouting via assignment at Union Pre- Academy tryout or Talent I.D. sessions.
  • Attend scheduled meetings as requested by the Union Youth or Union Academy Directors.
  • Over the course of the Union Pre-Academy season, coaching and/or assisting with other Union programs, including, but not limited to, the Union’s player development programs and/or other soccer programs organized by the Club, as directed by the Philadelphia Union Academy Director and/or the Philadelphia Union Sporting Director.

PROVISIONS

  • Union Youth Coaches will be provided additional income opportunities through camps, Union training programs, and scouting assignments.
  • All Union Youth Coaches will be provided Union coaching kit.
  • Union Youth Coaches will be provided coaching development and education opportunities throughout the season.
  • Union Youth Coaches will be provided Union methodology and curriculum to implement with their assigned age group.

REQUIREMENTS
