Finance: Accounting/Finance other
Accounting Coordinator - Philadelphia Union (Chester, PA)

OVERVIEW:

This position is responsible for overseeing the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable process of the Company in addition to providing support in other areas of the department.  The ideal candidate is familiar with all aspects of accounting and have a strong desire to learn and grow within the department.  The candidate should be self-motivated, possess excellent communication skills and have the ability to operate in a fast paced environment both independently and as a member of a team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee Accounts Payable functions including review of invoices and expense reports and entry into accounting system

  • Maintain invoice records and accounts payable vendor files

  • Print, distribute and manage invoice payment process on a weekly basis

  • Manage vendor relationships

    • Review and resolve invoice discrepancies

  • Track and reconcile monthly corporate card expenses

  • Oversee the process and reconciliation of monthly use tax payments

  • Prepare and review 1099’s and W2G’s

  • Oversee Accounts Receivable functions including invoicing and payment processing

  • Maintain balance sheet and fixes asset schedules

  • Review general ledger accounts and perform variance analysis to assist in monthly reporting process

  • Lead preparation of game day flash reporting and create additional ad hoc reporting as needed

  • Assist in the annual external audit process

  • Assist with other accounting and administrative functions as directed by management

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting/ finance
  • One to two years of prior accounting work experience is preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
  • Strong work ethic, team-oriented attitude, and enthusiastic about contributing to the success of the organization and department
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Sales & Marketing: Sponsorship Services/Activation
Assistant, Partnership Marketing - Philadelphia Union (Chester, PA)

OVERVIEW:

The Assistant, Partnership Marketing is a year long position (January to December) which oversees all partner related activities including activation and execution of all contractually obligated sponsorship elements. This person will build strong relationships with current partners to aid in the renewal and retention of sponsors and work to continuously increase the level of service and support offered by the sponsorship department to corporate partners. 

The ideal candidate should be organized, personable, professional, mature and committed to the sports industry with a strong analytical background.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for organizing, maintaining, and fulfilling corporate sponsor agreements and their outlined contractual obligations
  • Will be assigned partnership accounts to fully manage, handle special requests and execute marketing strategies and initiatives of the client
  • Responsible for working with sponsors and/or outside agencies to fulfill all corporate partnerships elements
  • Responsible for coordinating and maintaining all inventory management including merchandise
  • Create action plans and end of year season recaps for clients and assist in the renewal process
  • Research new opportunities to help grow the business of each corporate partner by keeping current with goals, objectives and the competitive corporate landscape in the market
  • Assist sales team with all sales presentations for prospecting partners
  • Responsible for working and attending team events, promotions, and venue events along with planning and managing partner events

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Needing work apprenticeship/ experience to graduate with an undergraduate degree in relate field
  • Show core principal knowledge of business analytics
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and detailed orientated; strong communication skills
  • Willingness to work beyond normal business hours, including nights, weekends and holidays as required
  • Competency in social media, grassroots marketing and general marketing

Player Operations: Player Personnel/Scout
Director of Talent Identification - YSC Sports, Affiliate of Philadelphia Union (Wayne, PA)

OVERVIEW:

The Director of Talent Identification will manage the Philadelphia Union Academy recruitment process with the ultimate goal of drawing the most talented players into the Philadelphia Union player pool.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop a scouting network, procedures, and guidelines with the Academy Director and in accordance with the Philadelphia Union’s values and philosophy
  • Develop a local recruiting program, establishing a network of trusted local scouts with available resources
  • Consistently observe Academy training and matches
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, such as U.S. Soccer scouts, club coaches and directors
  • Organize trials for potential prospects and all necessary logistics and meetings, including but not limited to YSC Academy tours and enrollment requests
  • In conjunction with the Academy Director, manage an Academy wide database to ensure regular reports on player progress (physical, psychological, etc.)
  • Manage and track retentions, releases, and vacant spots for the forthcoming season
  • Communicate with parents and coaches of potential prospects in a professional and timely manner befitting a representative of the Philadelphia Union organization

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of (3) years of experience in youth or professional soccer
  • Possess an eye for talent and an engaging personality necessary in recruitment
  • Technologically proficient (Microsoft Suite, Scout 7, etc.)
  • Highly organized and self motivated
  • Able to clearly articulate the Philadelphia Union philosophy – style of play, player characteristics, etc.
  • Knowledge of MLS and US Soccer recruitment regulations

Sales & Marketing: Corporate Sponsorship Sales
Director, Corporate Partnerships - Philadelphia Union (Chester, PA)

OVERVIEW:

The Director, Corporate Partnerships is primarily responsible for generating new business revenue with local, regional and national companies through the sale of integrated sponsorship packages of Philadelphia Union assets. The Director, Corporate Partnerships will sell fully integrated marketing, media and promotional programs that include marketing rights, on premise signage, game sponsorships, promotions, event marketing and digital assets.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prospect and close new corporate sponsorships and media partnerships.

  • Establish strong working relationships with local, regional and national companies to understand individual marketing and business goals and initiatives.

  • Identify key open categories and new categories as prospective new business leads.

  • Develop unique and individualized proposals and sales presentations for individual new business prospects.

  • Negotiate sponsor contracts pending final approval by the Senior Vice President of Corporate Partnerships.

  • Renew and grow existing corporate sponsorship and media partnerships through continued outstanding service and up selling of additional sponsorship assets into current partnership agreement.

  • Work closely with other members of the Philadelphia Union to achieve property goals while meeting personal sales and account management objectives.

  • Create individualized sponsorship packages and activation programs through existing or created Philadelphia Union assets to address prospective sponsor marketing/business goals and to extend internal company goals.

  • Work game days, weekends, and special events to entertain existing partners and new business prospects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Minimum three to five (3-5) years of extensive and proven integrated sales experience with demonstrated success in the media, sport sponsorship or entertainment fields.

  • Outstanding communication skills are essential for interactions with clients, operational leaders and other senior executives.

  • Demonstrated professional sales presentation skills.

WE’RE TALKING ABOUT SELLOUTS!

The Philadelphia Union view their Group Sales team as an integral part of selling out games.  Next season, the Union will be attacking from all angles, including off the field, in which we’ll be looking to do the same.  In this position, you’ll be calling on companies, schools, youth soccer, and much more.

 

THE X’S AND O’S

We’ll expect you to have a basic understanding of ticket sales coming in.  We’ll also expect you to be able to further your ticket sales craft during your time at the Union prior to making your next career jump.

You'll be making phone calls, emailing, and meeting face to face with Union group prospects to sell them group outings. You’ll develop and manage relationships while providing exemplary customer service. The majority of your time will be spent in the office but you may work various community and in-stadium events along with all of our 18+ Union home games.

 

MAIN DUTIES

1. Make 50+ phone calls per day to group prospects with a focus on generating group ticket sales
2. Manage relationships of a small existing book of business while prospecting for new sales
3. Be available to work up 18+ home games
4. Other duties as assigned

Sales & Marketing: Database Marketing/Analytics
Marketing Analytics Coordinator - Philadelphia Union (Chester, PA)

OVERVIEW:

The marketing analytics coordinator will be expected to use data analysis skills to help grow the Union’s revenue base and fan base.  Projects will focus on marketing data analysis and marketing automation projects. This position will be expected to help grow revenues generated through marketing campaigns, increase the size of our fan base, and increase general brand awareness.  This position will report into the Senior Director of Business Analytics.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Primary analytics contact for the marketing department

  • Support other departments/projects alongside analytics staff

  • Build and execute email marketing campaigns with a focus on increasing revenue and fan engagement (knowledge of HTML programming is required)

  • Analyze effectiveness of email marketing campaigns

    • Produce campaign performance reports and develop testing plans that will optimize email campaigns

  • Manage marketing automation programs such as cart abandonment and nurturing campaigns

  • Segment customer database and assist with creating personalized marketing campaigns

  • Use web and social analytics tools to better understand customers and purchasing patterns

  • Oversee lead generation campaigns

    • Develop creative campaign ideas as well as implement the technology required to execute these campaigns

  • Help with market research projects

    • Projects will include both primary research (creating and analyzing surveys) as well as secondary research (data provided by Scarborough)

  • Assist with CRM management tasks

    • Lead generation, lead scoring, data hygiene, reporting, training, and uncovering new ways to use CRM more efficiently

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to write HTML code for both websites and emails

  • Adobe Campaign/Neolane or equivalent email marketing/marketing automation platform

  • Formstack or equivalent form/survey platform

  • Google Analytics, Shareablee or other social media analytics platform

  • Strong Microsoft Excel

  • Ability to translate complex analysis projects into easily understood reports

  • Additional skills preferred:

    • Experience with creating and managing relational databases or custom data warehousing solutions

    • Ability to write SQL queries. Familiarity with MS SQL server or equivalent database platform.

    • Assist with advanced statistical modelling projects like lead scoring, retention modelling, ticket price forecasting, ticket demand, etc.

Sports Scientist - YSC Sports, Affiliate of Philadelphia Union (Wayne, PA)

OVERVIEW:

Responsible for providing, with directive from the Academy Director and Director of Performance, effective sport science support and services to all Union Youth Development’s teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and provide, in consultation with the Academy Director and Director of Performance, sport science support for Union Youth Development in accordance with our vision, values and philosophy.
  • Implement the curriculum and technical methodology programming for the Academy teams of the Union Youth Development program as directed by the Academy Director and/or the Director of Performance.
  • Compile daily, weekly and monthly data on games and training.
  • Assist in the implementation of on-field and off-field injury prevention strategies
  • Provide detailed feedback to the Union Academy coaches, players, Academy Director and ADT department on performance and progress
  • Design, supervise and carry out individual and group exercise programs as part of the Sports Science team
  • Assist in match preparation of the YSC/Union youth teams
  • Assisting with other YSC programs, including, but not limited to, YSC’s player development program and/or other soccer programs organized by the Club, as directed by the Philadelphia Union Academy Director and/or the Director of Performance

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Extensive knowledge of sport science technology and trends in data collection.
  • Previous work experience as a sports scientist in a professional soccer club or experience working in an interdisciplinary sports science with elite youth athletes.
  • Understanding of fitness/performance enhancement trends.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of Catapult and/or similar GPS programs.
  • Understanding of long term athletic development and how to support it through the use of data and technology.

SUMMARY:                       

This position is responsible for assisting in all community outreach efforts and Philadelphia Union Foundation (PUF) projects.  Additionally, interns will be asked to work all home games and other Union events as assigned.  Some nights and weekends will be required.  Qualified candidates for this position will have a passion for serving the community as well as the ability to work in a fast paced environment.  Applicants should be able to communicate with external entities with ease and be familiar with Microsoft Office and possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

The Social Media intern will work directly with the Social Media Coordinator and Digital Manager to help develop and execute social strategies for philadelphiaunion.com.  Interns will be responsible for assisting the Marketing and Communications department with day-to-day operations.  Additional job responsibilities could be developed around the candidates’ strengths.  Interns will be asked to work some nights and weekends.
