Director, Corporate Partnerships - Philadelphia Union (Chester, PA)

OVERVIEW:

The Director, Corporate Partnerships is primarily responsible for generating new business revenue with local, regional and national companies through the sale of integrated sponsorship packages of Philadelphia Union assets. The Director, Corporate Partnerships will sell fully integrated marketing, media and promotional programs that include marketing rights, on premise signage, game sponsorships, promotions, event marketing and digital assets.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prospect and close new corporate sponsorships and media partnerships.

  • Establish strong working relationships with local, regional and national companies to understand individual marketing and business goals and initiatives.

  • Identify key open categories and new categories as prospective new business leads.

  • Develop unique and individualized proposals and sales presentations for individual new business prospects.

  • Negotiate sponsor contracts pending final approval by the Senior Vice President of Corporate Partnerships.

  • Renew and grow existing corporate sponsorship and media partnerships through continued outstanding service and up selling of additional sponsorship assets into current partnership agreement.

  • Work closely with other members of the Philadelphia Union to achieve property goals while meeting personal sales and account management objectives.

  • Create individualized sponsorship packages and activation programs through existing or created Philadelphia Union assets to address prospective sponsor marketing/business goals and to extend internal company goals.

  • Work game days, weekends, and special events to entertain existing partners and new business prospects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Minimum three to five (3-5) years of extensive and proven integrated sales experience with demonstrated success in the media, sport sponsorship or entertainment fields.

  • Outstanding communication skills are essential for interactions with clients, operational leaders and other senior executives.

  • Demonstrated professional sales presentation skills.

OVERVIEW:

Interns will be responsible for assisting the box office in day-to-day operations as well as front office operations and games and events support.  Internships with the Philadelphia Union will provide qualified interns with an assortment of valuable learning experiences.  Box office experience is a plus but is not required for this position. Interns will be trained on the Paciolan ticketing system and be exposed to various forms of fan services.  Interns will be asked to work some nights and weekends.  Applicants should be familiar with Microsoft Office and possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sell tickets to walk-up customers at the Talen Energy Stadium Box Office

Fall 2016 - Event Operations Intern - Philadelphia Union (Chester, PA)

The Event Operations intern will be responsible for executing Philadelphia Union events including but not limited to: grassroots marketing events, corporate sponsor events, soccer schools and all Union home games. The ideal candidate is a confident, hard-working, and innovative college or graduate- level student who is interested in an opportunity to earn course credits toward the completion of their degree, while obtaining practical experience in the world of professional sports.  We have redesigned our internship program to provide valued learning opportunities, hands-on experience, and the chance to have a direct impact on professional soccer here in Philadelphia. We are looking for candidates interested in the area of Game-Day and Event Operations.  Through this internship, the intern will be introduced to the behind-the-scenes operations of PPL Park prior to and during Philadelphia Union home games and other events, such as The U on Tour.

SUMMARY:                       

This position is responsible for assisting in all community outreach efforts and Philadelphia Union Foundation (PUF) projects.  Additionally, interns will be asked to work all home games and other Union events as assigned.  Some nights and weekends will be required.  Qualified candidates for this position will have a passion for serving the community as well as the ability to work in a fast paced environment.  Applicants should be able to communicate with external entities with ease and be familiar with Microsoft Office and possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

Fall 2016 - Ticket Sales & Fan Services Intern - Philadelphia Union (Chester, PA)

Interns will be responsible for assisting the ticket sales and fan services staff front office in day-to-day operations.  Interns will be exposed to front office operations and general marketing operations as well. Internships with Philadelphia Union will provide qualified interns with an assortment of valuable learning experiences and exposure to all facets of a professional soccer team’s front office.  Interns will be asked to work some nights and weekends.  Applicants should be familiar with Microsoft Office and possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct Market Research to develop sales leads for the department
  • Assist in Pre-Season preparations in Sales Department and Box Office
  • Assist in Gameday preparation and execution
  • Aid in execution of local Youth Soccer Partnerships
  • Aid in execution of local Pub Partnerships
  • Work with the Supporters Club in Gameday preparation and operations
  • Provide friendly customer service at Union home games and other Union events

THE X’S AND O’S

We’ll expect you to have a basic understanding of ticket sales coming in.  We’ll also expect you to be able to further your ticket sales craft during your time at the Union prior to making your next career jump.

You'll be making phone calls, emailing, and meeting face to face with Union group prospects to sell them group outings. You’ll develop and manage relationships while providing exemplary customer service. The majority of your time will be spent in the office but you may work various community and in-stadium events along with all of our 18+ Union home games.

 

MAIN DUTIES

1. Make 50+ phone calls per day to group prospects with a focus on generating group ticket sales
2. Manage relationships of a small existing book of business while prospecting for new sales
3. Be available to work up 18+ home games
4. Other duties as assigned

Player Operations: Player Personnel/Scout
Sports Scientist - YSC Sports, Affiliate of Philadelphia Union (Wayne, PA)

OVERVIEW:

Responsible for providing, with directive from the Academy Director and Director of Performance, effective sport science support and services to all Union Youth Development’s teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and provide, in consultation with the Academy Director and Director of Performance, sport science support for Union Youth Development in accordance with our vision, values and philosophy.
  • Implement the curriculum and technical methodology programming for the Academy teams of the Union Youth Development program as directed by the Academy Director and/or the Director of Performance.
  • Compile daily, weekly and monthly data on games and training.
  • Assist in the implementation of on-field and off-field injury prevention strategies
  • Provide detailed feedback to the Union Academy coaches, players, Academy Director and ADT department on performance and progress
  • Design, supervise and carry out individual and group exercise programs as part of the Sports Science team
  • Assist in match preparation of the YSC/Union youth teams
  • Assisting with other YSC programs, including, but not limited to, YSC’s player development program and/or other soccer programs organized by the Club, as directed by the Philadelphia Union Academy Director and/or the Director of Performance

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Extensive knowledge of sport science technology and trends in data collection.
  • Previous work experience as a sports scientist in a professional soccer club or experience working in an interdisciplinary sports science with elite youth athletes.
  • Understanding of fitness/performance enhancement trends.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of Catapult and/or similar GPS programs.
  • Understanding of long term athletic development and how to support it through the use of data and technology.
