Account Executive - Group Sales - D.C. United (Washington, DC)

The AE, Group Sales individual will develop a career in sports sales by selling group ticket packages and experiences.  The ideal candidate is motivated, competitive and driven to pursue a career in sales.  This position focuses on maximizing revenue with a primary focus on the youth sports market.

An ambitious schedule of ten appointments per week with local group decision makers and the execution of 300 outbound calls per week to support and follow up will be essential.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Retain existing and generate new group sales through cold calling, outside appointments and stadium tours
  • Create, build and execute a group sales business plan
  • Self prospect new leads within primary market segments
  • Set meetings with key decision makers with a goal of developing a win-win situation for the organization and D.C. United
  • Develop professional relationships with current clients for group outing renewals and referral leads.
  • Proactively seek new business through referrals and current clients
  • Generate new prospects by attending a minimum of two outside events per week (Ex. Networking events, conventions, etc)
  • Meet or exceed expectations on a weekly basis for sales activity
  • Meet or exceed assigned sales revenue goals.

Account Specialist, Member Relations - D.C. United (Washington, DC)

The Season Ticket Member Retention team is responsible for the day to day management of full season and premium ticket accounts. The STM retention team will focus on building relationships, servicing, and renewing their book of business.  The duties include, but are not limited to, outbound and inbound calls, emails, face-to face appointments, as well as managing ticket transfers, re-prints, attendance rewards, and much more.  The STM retention team will also assist the ticket sales department in generating maximum revenue through the sale of new premium, full season, partial season and group ticket plans.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Manage a database of Full season accounts
  • Build strong relationships with account base through proactive communication including face-to-face appointments, seat visits, touch points, phone calls, emails and other communication channels.  A minimum of one touch point per month with full season ticket accounts is the expectation
  • Acquire knowledge and understanding of the fans, their changing preferences, needs, wants and demographics
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and effectively and enthusiastically communicates all team happenings, events, Season Ticket Member benefits and stadium details
  • Provide timely communication with Season Ticket Members in regard to game date changes, invoices, payment plans, parking, renewal deadlines, and match information
  • Provide a dedicated effort to renewal campaign
  • Handle a high level of sales activity, including a minimum of 40 outbound calls per day
  • Handle inbound calls and emails from current season ticket holders
  • Oversee execution and fulfillment of ticket sales programs including, but not limited to Attendance Rewards Program, additional ticket requests from season ticket holders and sales events
  • Generate new ticket sales revenue focusing on D.C. United Season Tickets, Partial packages, and Group tickets through referrals and current client development
  • Meet or exceed new business and renewal goals as assigned by the Director of Ticket Sales
  • Maintain a detailed customer database of all clients and prospects. This includes, but is not limited to: referral follow-ups, existing client programs, new solicitation and other programs as developed

The Database Assistant position is entry level, where the primary focus is assisting the Ticket Operations Manager with managing and growing the sales database, developing and running reports, and ensuring the box office is running smoothly on game days.  This position is highly analytical and technology-based, but requires business development sense and an entrepreneurial spirit as well.

Director of Marketing - D.C. United (Washington, DC)

The Director of Marketing will be responsible for all D.C. United brand activities including development and execution of season-long marketing campaigns supported by multi-channel brand marketing, advertising and promotional programs.

This position is responsible for increasing target consumer awareness of the DCU brand via development of digital, social, traditional and grassroots marketing platforms. The Director will oversee the activity of the team’s internal creative department. The director will also play an advisory role in developing the branding and look & feel of D.C. United digital platforms including dcunited.com, Facebook and Twitter. This position will also be responsible for the continued education and socialization of the brands throughout the organization, especially working with groups that bring the brand to life in event presentation, fan development partnerships, merchandise, consumer experience and online.

The Director of Marketing will provide strategic recommendation and oversee all day to day marketing activity as it relates to the teams’ ticket sales, specifically season subscription retention and sales programs, and marketing partner activation. The Director will manage the brand, advertising and grassroots marketing budget and is responsible for identifying opportunities to consolidate projects and marketing expenditures to achieve maximum revenue.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Marketing Strategy

  • Oversee all aspects of brand development and management, specifically acting as in-house authority on how best to utilize any/all assets to further brand awareness of the club
  • Creation, management and tracking of the annual budget
  • Maintain understanding of organizational sales and marketing activities, as well as the strategic direction of the market and competitors
  • Development of advertising campaigns and consideration of all potential mediums: broadcast, digital, non-traditional, etc.
  • Responsibilities include development of advertising plans, negotiation of partnerships/buys, advertising creative development, execution, and tracking
  • Work closely with Corporate Partnerships to ensure fulfillment and integration of corporate sponsors into marketing, advertising, and promotional initiatives

  • Act as main liaison for outside agency who assist with club advertising efforts and digital strategies

 In-Market Advertising

  • Oversee the execution of all grassroots marketing initiatives with the goal of driving ticket sales, gaining qualified lead database, creating sponsorship inventory, and strengthening fan connections
  • Execution of annual advertising campaigns, including concept development, negotiation of media partnerships where applicable, approving media buys & ad placements, development of promotional programs, and creation of all marketing and promotional materials
  • Initiate and execute promotional platforms against all paid and unpaid media
  • Lead email marketing efforts on behalf of DCU and ticket sales including approval and creation of copy

 Creative Development

  • Oversee creative and production of all print marketing and promotional materials, including brochures, posters, community reports, and sales collateral across all Front Office departments
  • Development and execution of annual Ticket Sales marketing campaigns including print and digital
  • Development and execution of Season Ticket Member marketing and promotional campaigns

Research & Analytics

  • Oversee all research initiatives including surveys, questionnaires, focus groups, etc. to aid in brand and fan development including those produced by other departments
  • Responsible for reviewing and reporting on League provided analytics for dcunited.com advertising, email marketing efforts and all other digital channels relating to promotions
  • Manage and track all expenses relating to department activities to ensure budget compliance

Player Operations: Coach
Junior Coach - Minnesota United FC (Golden Valley, MN)

The Junior Coach will help run the Minnesota United FC Camps and training sessions around the Twin Cities metro.  This flexible, part time, seasonal position reports to the Lead Coach at each camp and training session, as well as the Director of Camps & Youth Development. Please note that this is part time only.

Lead Coach - Minnesota United FC (Golden Valley, MN)

The Lead Coach will help run the Minnesota United FC Camps and training sessions around the Twin Cities metro.  This flexible, part time, seasonal position reports to the Director of Camps & Youth Development. Please note that this is part time only.

  • Coach camp and training session attendees as age-appropriate.

Join our Loon Squad!  Marketing Assistants help with community efforts, grassroots marketing initiatives, and cultural events during the season, both on game days and during team events and appearances.   As a Marketing Assistant, you will receive a behind-the-scenes look at how to execute a marketing campaign and an event table, and what the most important strategies and results are while marketing a professional sports team in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.  This is a paid, part time, seasonal position and reports to the Events Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with major events in the community, including various festivals, fairs, block parties, and the Minnesota State Fair.
  • Assist with grassroots efforts and street marketing campaigns, including going to local bars and watch parties to pass out information and build excitement for the team.
  • Participate in fan interaction at games, including tailgate parties, as well as pre-game, halftime, and post-game promotions.
  • Assist with other events and promotions as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 18 years of age or older with access to reliable transportation (not all locations are accessible via public transit).
  • Ability to manage an area and staff.
  • Personable, reliable, and outgoing.
  • Flexible schedule – most events will be in the evenings during the week and on the weekends.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Focused on attention to detail, taking initiative, and creating a positive working environment.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, Somali, Oromo, Arabic, Korean, Vietnamese, Karen, or Hmong a plus.

The Partnership Sales Representative will sell Minnesota United sponsorships which include game day, broadcast and Web integration, the Bielenberg Sports Complex in Woodbury, and community outreach and events.  This full time position reports to the Vice President for Business Development, and is base plus commission.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and execute a successful sales plan that meets and exceeds budgets.
  • Generate new business for the team through existing relationships and cold calling.
  • Present, negotiate, and close sponsorship proposals to potential clients through both written and verbal communication.
  • Build sales presentations for client meetings.
  • Provide outstanding service to new and existing clients.
  • Help develop ideas for programs or promotional opportunities that produce revenue.
  • Represent Minnesota United FC in the community and business environment when involved in civic and professional organizations.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years (5 preferred) of experience in a sales or business development role (in the Twin Cities market preferred).
  • Experience selling advertising, sponsorships, digital, promotional programs.
  • Experience generating clients through cold calling.
  • Experience developing a marketing/events strategy for clients and executing against that plan.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Experience developing business in media or sports preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
