Description

Columbus Crew SC is seeking a full-time Academy Head Coach, starting in the 2017-18 Academy season. The Academy Head Coach is responsible for the development of professional players according to the Crew SC style of play, methodology and player first culture.

The Academy Head Coach reports to the Director of Methodology and Academy General Manager and closely collaborates with the other Academy head coaches and the First Team Coaching Staff.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop prospective professional players for Columbus Crew SC by implementing the Crew SC methodology and player first culture
  • Design and execute daily training sessions (minimum of 3 training sessions per week)
  • Responsible for coaching, organization and supervision of players and support staff during team’s Academy games
  • Create and manage individual development plans for high potential players
  • Perform video analysis for individual and team performance
  • Assist in the talent identification process for the Academy
  • Attend, assist and support other Crew SC Academy teams as requested by Director of Methodology and Academy General Manager
  • Attend all Academy staff meetings and First Team training sessions as determined by Director of Methodology and Academy General Manager
  • Comply with all MLS homegrown rules and adhere to all U.S. Soccer Developmental Academy guidelines

Required skills, experience & abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred or equivalent experience
  • U.S. Soccer A License or foreign equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years coaching experience at Academy/Professional level
  • Coaching philosophy and style consistent with Crew SC methodology and environment (emphasis on development both as a player and as a person)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population, including strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Unwavering commitment to develop professional soccer players
  • Demonstrate professionalism
  • Able to work independently and with a team within a high-performance environment
  • Must be available to travel when necessary and work some evenings, weekends and holidays with some irregular hours
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including PowerPoint, Word and Excel
  • Fluency in English and Spanish strongly preferred

The Columbus Crew SC Corporate Partnerships department is offering an internship for an individual to gain valuable experience in the management, activation and service of Crew SC Corporate Partnerships. The Partnership Marketing Intern will work closely with various members of the Corporate Partnerships Team.

Internships are available for students actively pursuing education and academic credit may also be available. The internship requires participation in most Crew SC home matches other events as well as approximately 20-30 hours per week. We can offer some flexibility around school schedules.

Opportunities & Responsibilities

  • Assist in Corporate Partnerships research including developing comprehensive reports on specific sponsorship categories and industry trends, other MLS teams’ sponsors, Columbus & Ohio based sports franchises’ sponsors among others
  • Assist in the creation of partnership proposals and in development of recap presentations for current partners
  • Assist in activation of all Corporate Partner elements during Crew SC home matches, international exhibitions and ancillary events including signage, in-game promotions, premium item give away and mascot appearances
  • Assist in fulfilling all corporate partner commitments including matchday elements, grassroots marketing campaigns, interactive/electronic media and hospitality among others

Required skills, experience & abilities

  • Must be an active college student
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite including PowerPoint, Word and Excel
  • Experience with marketing and/or partner activation preferred

MAPFRE Stadium is seeking part-time seasonal Experience Team Members for the 2017 season. Experience Team Members serve in an important capacity including Ushers, Greeters and Ticket Takers among other guest service roles.

The Experience Team plays a vital role when it comes to creating a clean, safe, and enjoyable experience for our fans and guests. As the first point of contact for guest requests and needs, courteous hospitality must be exhibited at all times. Experience Team Members are encouraged to be proactive in every area while demonstrating a professional manner.

All Experience Team Members are responsible for providing exceptional customer service at MAPFRE Stadium by making every effort to ensure a positive guest experience. The Experience Team serves an essential function by hosting guests visiting the stadium and by utilizing an ever-growing knowledge of our facility and events.

The hours for Experience Team Member positions are highly variable and dependent on the Crew SC and MAPFRE Stadium event schedule. Experience Team Members are required to work events in their entirety including pre- and post-event responsibilities as well as at least 80% of Crew SC home matches and MAPFRE Stadium events.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide highest level of customer service to ensure guests’ expectations are met or exceeded and their overall experience at MAPFRE Stadium is positive and memorable
  • Create a welcoming experience for guests
  • Facilitate all guest-related matters in a professional and courteous manner through creative problem-solving
  • Scan tickets for entry with a smile and friendly greeting
  • Check tickets and direct guests to appropriate seats in all areas of MAPFRE Stadium
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the venue policies, procedures and event information
  • Enforce policies during an event to assure the safety and security of all guests
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with all patrons and fellow staff members

Required skills, experience & abilities

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and must be legally eligible for employment in the United States (proof of eligibility will be required prior to beginning work)
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 80% of all scheduled MAPFRE Stadium events. The Major League Soccer (MLS) season begins in March and generally ends in November
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population, including strong verbal communication skills. Second language a plus
  • Ability to maintain friendly demeanor and professional behavior with guests, supporters and staff in pressure-filled situations
  • Ability to take on any role within the Experience Team (and switch roles as necessary) depending on event requirements
  • Previous customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and may include walking long distances and climbing stairs
  • Punctuality and reliability are essential for success
  • Ability to stay alert and observant during Crew SC home Matches and MAPFRE Stadium Events to ensure patron safety
  • Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions that includes the extreme heat, cold , rain, sleet, snow and direct sunlight

2017 internships are available for students actively pursuing education and academic credit may be available. The internship requires 10-15 hours per week in the office as well as all home matches.

Office Responsibilities

  • Log, organize and archive video footage using CatDV archiving system
  • Sort tagged footage into video library
  • Assist video production team by gathering and exporting footage from archive to various digital platforms

  • Assist the digital and social media team by creating match highlights for in-match distribution
