Videographer/Non-Linear Editor/Producer

This position is responsible for the conceptualization and production of team video and radio projects including: player features, promotional videos, highlight packages, video news releases and commercials.

Duties:
• Work with communications and marketing departments to develop video projects that support team initiatives
• Develop year-long content plan which utilizes multiple windows across all available platforms
• Serve as field producer coordinating shoots and locations
• Develop scripts and/or shooting outlines for projects
• Conduct off camera interviews
• Shoot and log footage
• Edit segments on non-linear editing system
• Create still and motion graphics
• Output finalized projects to DVD, videotape, and the web
• Perform daily tasks necessary for operation of video production department
• Maintain team video library, including full game records and melts
• Tape/ DVD duplication
• Work with team television production and radio partners
• Supervise department intern(s)
• Insure that production and post-production equipment is maintained
Requirements:
• Self-motivated person must be able to work independently
• Minimum 2 years video production and post-production experience in news or sports-related environment (e.g., local cable origination)
• Comprehensive knowledge of soccer and MLS
• College degree in journalism, film or related field preferred
• Multi-lingual, including English and Spanish
• Experience using DV format cameras
• Experience using Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, and After Effects

Public Relations Internship (Non-paid, Spring 2010) - CD Chivas USA (Carson, CA)

Reports To: Manager, Communications

Summary
• Communications Interns assist with all media, information and broadcasting activities for Chivas USA.
• Internships are granted to a limited number of qualified candidates on a semester basis.
• Minimum commitment: 20 hours per week, with preference given to full-time candidates.
• This position is based in Carson (Los Angeles County), California.
Primary Responsibilities
• Serve as contact for media and additional information requests
• Write, edit and translate press releases and other publications
• Assist with media operations, including archives, accreditation, media lists and game day logistics
• Assist with special projects including press conferences, publications, broadcast and special events
• Oversee and maintain Web content
• Formulate and effectively deliver news pitches, as needed

As deemed necessary by Director/Manager, Communications Minimum Requirements

• Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills in Spanish and English
• Background in PR, journalism, marketing, communications, sports administration or related field

Digital Content Manager - CD Chivas USA (Carson, CA)

SUMMARY

Chivas USA is seeking a Digital Content Manager to oversee content and operations across team’s digital products and initiatives.

DESCRIPTION

Digital Content Manager will act as the Editor-in-Chief for Chivas USA’s website(s). They are responsible for defining the tone, pace, look and feel of each team’s content, as well as coordinating all logistics and communications of editorial publication on each team’s web site and other digital platforms.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Be responsible for overseeing the editorial/programming vision of their team’s digital products including corporate site and all auxiliary sites
• Should live and breath team site
• Oversee all logistics of scheduling, staffing, resource management and editorial prioritization
• Ensure editorial delivery is consistent with the team’s overall strategy, time, cost and quality standards
• Creatively find ways to boost the team site’s traffic and increase user activity
• Work with team stakeholders to conceive, design and launch new editorial features
• Be able to quickly write (and assign) time-sensitive post (50 words) as well as a lengthier feature (150 words)
• Be skilled at spotting developing news trends and is a natural networker, building relationships within soccer blogosphere
• Developing and overseeing sports editorial content, including editing, quality assurance and proofreading

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

• Applicant should have a good knowledge of Chivas USA and MLS
• This position is for individuals with strong written and verbal communications skills. The individuals should possess strong time management skills and the ability to multitask
• Must understand web analytics and traffic patterns
• Experience, at a managerial level, in an editorial organization or web site. Prior experience in online media preferred
• Dynamic and inspiring writer (we’ll want to see samples)
• 3+ years experience editing and writing – preferably in web and/or other short form content
• At least intermediate level skills in utilizing Microsoft Office and a strong competency in (or desire to learn) web content management
• Ability to work as part of a team in a multi-media environment
• Bachelors degree required; graduate degree in journalism or related field preferred
• Ability to work well with others including senior management
• Excellent interpersonal verbal/written communication skills
• Team management skills
• Computer savvy – you will be posting content as well as writing it
• Self-motivated, positive and collaborative attitude
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) a strong plus
• Fluency in Microsoft Office, Mac/PC software, and web/new media technology. Familiarity with Photoshop, Flash, HTML a plus
• Be proficient in latest new media trends: Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube

The Chivas USA Marketing department is currently looking for a Creative Services with an ambition to grow and learn with the confines and settings of a professional soccer team. Responsibilities and requirements are posted below:

Responsibilities include:

• Assist the Creative Services Coordinator
• Help Coordinate all outsourced creative with creative agencies
