Chicago Fire Foundation-Community Relations Intern - Winter 2016/2017 - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview, IL)

Expectations:  Is it your dream to work in the sports industry? If so an internship with the Chicago Fire Soccer Club can be the first mile of your marathon!  As an Intern with the Chicago Fire Soccer Club, you will aid the club in continuing to strive to be a premier club on and off of the pitch, you will play a large role in the achievement of this goal by executing projects and by being a part of the day to day activities of the Club.  We are seeking interns that will take steps on their own to grow and hone their craft.  As an Intern you will be expected to give maximum effort every day you come to work. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in coordination of game day 50-50 raffle program
  • Coordinate scheduling game-day volunteer corps with Coordinator
  • Assist with charity section of website, FB and other social media for Foundation
  • Assist with donation requests including data collection and fulfillment
  • Assist with development and executition of organization wide volunteer opportunities and programs
  • Assist in development and execution of Foundation and Community Relations programming with  partners (Ex: City Year, LTS tournament, Practice in the Community, etc)
  • Chicago Fire Foundation special events including annual luncheon, auctions, marathon, etc.
  • Assist with administrative tasks and grant writing
  • Assist in coordination of player appearances

  • Other duties as assigned by Manager

Qualifications:  

  • Must receive college credit
  • Previous community service experience or heart to serve others
  • Communications/marketing or related course of study
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledgeable of Chicagoland Area

Facility Operations/Security: Facility/Venue Management
Event Operations Team Member - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview, IL)

The Chicago Fire Soccer Club is seeking qualified individuals to participate behind the scenes on match days and during special events. The candidate will be an essential part of the Event Operations team by providing material and operational support to the Front Office and First Team. This position will provide a broad and extensive resume-building experience for individuals interested in event or sports management fields.

 Responsibilities:

- Organize, manage and transport operations equipment for Chicago Fire home matches and special events

- Coordinate event logistics, including development and execution of—floor plans, collateral placement, crowd management and emergency safety measures

- Set-up and dress activation areas according to Marketing and Corporate Partnership contract obligations

- Assist on-field activities on match days by setting up team benches and locker rooms, managing ball kids, sitting stretcher crew and leading kids in pre-game/half-time ceremonies

- Load and transport equipment and manage activations at all grassroots Marketing events

- Represent the Chicago Fire Soccer Club and its respective partners/sponsors with pride and passion

- Additional duties assigned by direct supervisor

Qualifications:

• Manage time effectively, with the ability to perform well with strict deadlines
• Be comfortable multi-tasking and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment
• Perform strenuous physical duties, including carrying heavy boxes and equipment
• Maintain an effective working relationship with coworkers, fans, vendors and sponsors
• Follow all policies, procedures and safety precautions established by the Chicago Fire Soccer Club
• Demonstrate a flexible schedule and show willingness to work a minimum of 20-30 hours monthly during peak season (Feb-Nov), including extended and irregular shifts
• Access to a car, a clean driving record, proof of auto insurance and a valid driver’s license
• Knowledge of the Chicago Fire Soccer Club and Major League Soccer is preferred but not necessary

Front Desk - The PrivateBank Fire Pitch - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Chicago, IL)

The Chicago Fire is seeking energetic, outgoing, and soccer-passionate individuals to represent the club at our brand new soccer facility on the Northside of Chicago - The PrivateBank Fire Pitch. These candidates will be an integral part of the team, setting the tone for all customers (soccer players young and old, parents, fans, etc.) who walk through our doors. This part-time, paid position aims to provide those seeking future sports employment with the opportunity to interact within the world of sports in Chicago.  Please Note:  Candidates must be willing to work most weekends.

RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but not limited to):

  • Represent the Chicago Fire at our facility, while interacting with adult players, children and parents
  • Welcome our guests with a friendly smile, and proactively help with any enquiries
  • Assist with inventory and restocking of merchandise and food items sold at the facility
  • Proactively trouble shoot any issues and help to solve them going forward
  • Be knowledgable about the rules of the facility and help to enforce them
  • Take incoming calls or deliveries with a professional attitude and direct their needs to the proper person on staff
  • Handle complaints with professionalism, and aim to turn any negative interaction into a positive one
  • Assist with facility operations such as set up, tear down, cleaning and organization
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues at all times to solve challenges

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently pursuing or already completed a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Marketing, Sports Management, Hospitality or related field
  • Ability to work a minimum of 15 hours per week, including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Candidates must live in the Chicagoland area
  • Outstanding communication skills and a positive, energetic personality
  • Ability to respond to any situation quickly and professionally
  • Comfort with public interactions and sharing knowledge of the Chicago Fire
  • Ability to communicate with internal and external staff in addition to clients in a respectable, professional and enthusiastic manner

Graphic Designer Intern - Fall 2016 - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview/Chicago, Il)

Expectations: The Intern Designer position for the Chicago Fire Soccer Club is responsible for any and all creative undertakings by the club across a variety of media including web, print, promotional items and stadium installation/environment. The intern will service all departments with any creative or design needs, from initial concepts to final production, execution and/or distribution. The Intern Designer is responsible for maintaining the visual integrity of the club as perceived by the market, and for strengthening brand presence within that market. He or she must demonstrate the ability to supply creative solutions on a daily basis to a variety of requested projects while remaining organized and on task. Internships are unpaid (except for $100/month transportation stipend) and available only to persons who will receive college or graduate level credit for their work. The Fire accepts a limited number of internships to ensure that interns gain valuable work experience.

Responsibilites:

  • Organize and manage multiple projects in various stages of progress
  • Formulate design concepts, presentations, templates, layouts, merchandise, installations and other collateral from initial idea to final execution
  • Create advertising campaigns that are followed across a variety of collateral
  • Develop understanding of target audience and market for specifically aimed marketing pieces
  • Present or pitch ideas, briefs, and concepts to various parties, in and out of house
  • Prioritize and filter work load coming from all departments through a design request form system
  • Design advertisements, print materials, still digital imaging and web graphics
  • Meet all advertising and print deadlines
  • Contribute to the invention and implementation of marketing/communications initiatives

Requirements

  • Applicants MUST receive college credit for the internship
  • Practice a professional attitude when working with outside sources (ie. publications, print partners, creative agencies, vendors)
  • Develop good rapport with other members of the Marketing Department
  • Maintain an approachable persona as well as organized and respectful communication with all other departments
  • Work closely with the Graphic Designer to ensure a cohesive message and look across all design projects and materials
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Programs, HTML a plus
  • Strong understanding of soccer culture and market preferred

Mascot - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview, IL)

The Chicago Fire Soccer Club is seeking athletic, energetic, creative and highly motivated individuals with a desire to work on a part-time basis as Sparky, the team’s official mascot. Sparky represents the Chicago Fire by performing various duties at home games and community events such as youth soccer tournaments, parades, festivals and charity functions. All duties include but are not limited to crowd interaction, greeting fans, assisting with in-game promotions and photo/autograph sessions.

RESPONSIBLITIES (Include but not limited to):

·         Responsible for performing at Chicago Fire home games and events such as youth soccer tournaments, festivals, picnics, parades and community events throughout the Chicagoland area year round.

·         Perform mascot duties in a manner deemed acceptable according to the Chicago Fire standards.

·         Represent the Chicago Fire and its respective partners/sponsors with enthusiasm, energy, pride, passion and professionalism.

·         Comfortable performing and interacting with large crowds

·         Excellent listening skills and the ability to work well with others.

·         Ability to respond to any situation quickly and professionally.

·         Reliable, punctual and courteous.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

·         Available to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays. 

·         Ability to perform in costume.

·         Previous mascot experience on the collegiate or professional level preferred. 

·         Applicants must be 18 years or older.

·         Must have regular access to a car, a clean driving record, proof of auto insurance and a valid driver’s license.
