Events & Operations Intern (SPRING) - Chicago Fire Rec Soccer (Chicago, Il)

Chicago Fire Rec Soccer (CFRS) is looking for a smart, service orientated, customer facing passionate individual who is interested in joining the Fire family. Our department organizes and coordinates adult recreational soccer leagues for coed and men's teams. The intern will be expected to work some nights and weekends (about 25 hours/week).

CFRS is the largest adult rec soccer provider in Chicago. Our home - The PrivateBank Fire Pitch - is the premier soccer facility in the city. As we grow, we're looking for driven young professionals to join our team. Let us know if that sounds like you!

Instructions for candidates:

Responsibilites/Duties may include:

  • Running adult rec soccer leagues and pickup games; including customer service, recording scores, checking in players, taking payments, managing referees, and more
  • League management - creating schedules, emailing captains, recruiting new teams, and more
  • Actively selling, promoting and representing all CFRS products and services
  • Working with our team during office hours on:
    • Data entry and reports
    • Research projects
    • Social media
  • Events - assist with trips to Fire games and team parties
  • Interns will have substantial interaction with customers, Fire employees, and Fire fans - so we expect a high level of professionalism and customer service
  • This position may be required to assist other departments with various projects. Interaction with other departments is highly encouraged as we aim to provide the most comprehensive learning experience for interns.

  • Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Graphic Designer Intern - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview/Chicago, Il)

Title:Graphic Designer Intern

Reports To:Senior Manager of Creative Services

Expectations: The Intern Designer position for the Chicago Fire Soccer Club is responsible for any and all creative undertakings by the club across a variety of media including web, print, promotional items and stadium installation/environment. The intern will service all departments with any creative or design needs, from initial concepts to final production, execution and/or distribution. The Intern Designer is responsible for maintaining the visual integrity of the club as perceived by the market, and for strengthening brand presence within that market. He or she must demonstrate the ability to supply creative solutions on a daily basis to a variety of requested projects while remaining organized and on task. Internships are unpaid (except for $100/month transportation stipend) and available only to persons who will receive college or graduate level credit for their work. The Fire accepts a limited number of internships to ensure that interns gain valuable work experience.

Position Responsibilites:

  • Organize and manage multiple projects in various stages of progress
  • Formulate design concepts, presentations, templates, layouts, merchandise, installations and other collateral from initial idea to final execution
  • Create advertising campaigns that are followed across a variety of collateral
  • Develop understanding of target audience and market for specifically aimed marketing pieces
  • Present or pitch ideas, briefs, and concepts to various parties, in and out of house
  • Prioritize and filter work load coming from all departments through a design request form system
  • Design advertisements, print materials, still digital imaging and web graphics
  • Meet all advertising and print deadlines
  • Contribute to the invention and implementation of marketing/communications initiatives


  • Practice a professional attitude when working with outside sources (ie. publications, print partners, creative agencies, vendors)
  • Develop good rapport with other members of the Marketing Department
  • Maintain an approachable persona as well as organized and respectful communication with all other departments
  • Work closely with the Graphic Designer to ensure a cohesive message and look across all design projects and materials
  • Applicants must receive college credit for the internship
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Programs, HTML a plus
  • Strong understanding of soccer culture and market preferred
  • Must have reliable transportation

Player Development Admin & Operations Intern - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview, IL)

Title: Player Development Admin and Operations Intern

Reports To: Academy Coordinator


  •  Organize registration files, paperwork and other Soccer department administrative needs
  •  Support Technical Staff with any administrative needs
  •  Assist in securing traveling plans for Fire Academy and PDL teams
  •  Arrange logistics during team travel and implement on the road
    •    Expected to travel with academy teams on away trips
  •  Manage equipment for trainings and games
  •  Wash uniforms during home and away travel
  •  Provide necessary paperwork to coaches and administrative staff


  •  This is an unpaid internship, for college credit only
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  •  Knowledge of global soccer, the Fire and Major League Soccer is preferred
  •  Must be detail-oriented
  •  Flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays is required

Visual Effects & Motion Graphics Coordinator - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview, IL)

Title: Visual Effects & Motion Graphics Coordinator

Reports To:  Sr. Manager, Creative Services

Expectations:  A Visual Effects & Motion Graphics Coordinator will create graphics, animations and live video content for a diverse array of media, including smartphones, handheld electronic devices, the web, television and in stadium among other platforms. They will be tasked with coordinating and creating visual effects that excite, explain, and entertain viewers. Visual Effects & Motion Graphics Coordinator will build on their skills and abilities as a graphic designer by combining graphic design with animations to create computer based animations and presentations.


  • Coordinates, designs, plans, concepts and layouts for Visual Effects & Motion Graphics projects
  • Creates and delivers Visual Effects & Motion Graphics in various media including web, mobile, television, etc.
  • Works collaboratively with the creative team to understand scope and objectives
  • Works in partnership with editors, and other designers to resolve technical and/or design issues
  • Creates and prepares template graphic packages for editors
  • Edits raw video footage and adds effects/elements to enhance motion graphics
  • Creates player-branded images for in-stadium display: player headshots, fan prompt animations, LED ribbon fascia animations (both sponsor and team-oriented), matrix animated signatures, and other matrix crowd prompt animations.  Also creates graphical look for game open videos, broadcast opens, show production opens and commercial graphics and templates
  • Responsible for coordinating and running LED system on all matchdays
  • Stays ahead of best Visual Effects & Motion Graphics design techniques and solutions by continually conducting research  
  • Assists in designing and creating storyboards, pitches, collateral etc. ensuring all graphics work is on brand
  • Maintain and follow best-practice for versioning control, naming convention and organization of graphic files
  • Participates in brainstorming sessions to share new design perspectives and ideas with the Marketing & Digital Content team
  • Ensure compliance with company brand and design standards
  • Assists in posting to and upkeep of via Drupal-based content management system


  • Completion of a high school diploma, Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a related field
  • 3D/4D Knowledge and Video Editing a Plus
  • Strong communications skills and strategic thinking skills; able to analyze a situation; identify objectives and desired outcomes to determine best course of action to affect positive results
  • Ability to work in a team/collaborative work environment is required along with strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical and planning skills
  • A positive attitude; incorporating integrity, confidentiality and discretion
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
