Chicago Fire Foundation-Community Relations Intern - Winter 2016/2017 - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview, IL)

Expectations:  Is it your dream to work in the sports industry? If so an internship with the Chicago Fire Soccer Club can be the first mile of your marathon!  As an Intern with the Chicago Fire Soccer Club, you will aid the club in continuing to strive to be a premier club on and off of the pitch, you will play a large role in the achievement of this goal by executing projects and by being a part of the day to day activities of the Club.  We are seeking interns that will take steps on their own to grow and hone their craft.  As an Intern you will be expected to give maximum effort every day you come to work. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in coordination of game day 50-50 raffle program
  • Coordinate scheduling game-day volunteer corps with Coordinator
  • Assist with charity section of website, FB and other social media for Foundation
  • Assist with donation requests including data collection and fulfillment
  • Assist with development and executition of organization wide volunteer opportunities and programs
  • Assist in development and execution of Foundation and Community Relations programming with  partners (Ex: City Year, LTS tournament, Practice in the Community, etc)
  • Chicago Fire Foundation special events including annual luncheon, auctions, marathon, etc.
  • Assist with administrative tasks and grant writing
  • Assist in coordination of player appearances

  • Other duties as assigned by Manager

Qualifications:  

  • Must receive college credit
  • Previous community service experience or heart to serve others
  • Communications/marketing or related course of study
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledgeable of Chicagoland Area

Communications Internship - Winter/Spring 2017 - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview, IL)

The Chicago Fire Soccer Club is seeking a motivated individual to assist with daily media relations duties and game day media operations. This position is for an individual with exceptional written and verbal communications skills. The individual should possess strong time management skills and the ability to multitask.

Applicants should have a strong understanding of the Chicago Fire and Major League Soccer. 

This is an unpaid internship and is for college credit only. Proof that you are receiving credit is required. 



Primary Responsibilities

  • Compilation of daily Fire coverage
  • Assist in managing Social Media results
  • Management of Fire media distribution lists
  • Research for and write press releases and other Communications projects
  • Produce Fire related content for press releases and website
  • Participate in Communications department meetings and events
  • Assisting in all aspects of press box operations on game days including press box setup, managing Media Will Call, transcribing quotes and additional duties.

Community Ambassador Intern - Soccer In The Community (SITC) - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview, IL)

Title:  Community Ambassador Intern
Reports To:  Manager of Soccer In The Community


Expectations:

  • Community Ambassador intern will be responsible for the successful delivery of Community Ambassador School Programs taking place over a 16-week period.
  • The Community Ambassador School Program provides schools with wider opportunities to participate in structured, afterschool soccer activities in association with the Chicago Fire Soccer Club.
  • To be a brand ambassador for the Chicago Fire Soccer Club within the community.

Responsibilities:

  • School Liaison; Build strong relationships and systems of support for schools, ensuring each school has the necessary resources required to run a successful program
  • Coach Liaison; Build strong relationships and systems of support for the schools’ coaches, ensuring each coach has the necessary resources to be a successful coach
  • Oversee activity delivery; Weekly training visits to schools to oversee implementation of the program
  • Event coordinating; Plan and coordinate community soccer events
  • Data collecting; collate key information on the progress of the program
  • Reporting; Weekly reports on program activities

Qualifications:

  • Internship must be for college credit
  • Working towards degree in sports and/or business

Expectations: We are looking for a smart, driven and reliable individual to join our team as a Corporate Partnership intern in order to assist us in providing the highest level of service to all of our Partners.   As an Intern with the Chicago Fire Soccer Club, you will aid the club in continuing to strive to be a premier club on and off of the pitch, you will play a large role in the achievement of this goal by executing projects and by being a part of the day to day activities of the Club.  We are seeking interns that will take steps on their own to grow and hone their craft. Responsibilities:

  • Assist Partnership Marketing Account Executives with delivering superior Activation:  coordinate/execute all partnership elements/assets for each assigned partner.  This includes but is not limited to (1) game-day activation and events at Toyota Park, and (2) non-game day events and promotions, including but not limited to clinics, tournaments, player appearances, special promotions, and sweepstakes execution, and (3) partner-related hospitality activities.  May require local travel and nontraditional hours.
  • Assist with Corporate Partnership department projects, including, but not limited to: pre-season action plans, post-season recaps, department events, premium item coordination, tracking social media promotions, organizing matchday and event photos.
  • Research activation concepts for partners as needed. 
  • Support Fire operations necessary to execute partner activation plans.
  • Regularly support Corporate Sales team with communications and ideas/solutions for assigned partners and future partners.
  • Regularly provide Research/Market Awareness to keep up-to-date with current partner news
  • Coordinate any sponsor-related projects as assigned by Director of Partnership Marketing or Vice President of Corporate Partnerships.

Qualifications:

Chicago Fire Rec Soccer (CFRS) is looking for a creative, hard working, individual who is interested in joining the Fire family. CFRS runs adult recreational soccer leagues for coed and men's teams. The intern will be expected to work some nights and weekends (15-25 hours/week).

Description:

The Chicago Fire Soccer Club is seeking a Video Production intern to assist with day-to-day video productions within the Team Website, Home TV Broadcasts, and In-Stadium presentations. Applicant must have a strong work ethic, good time management skills, and the desire to expand their knowledge.

Prerequisites:

-       Basic understanding of video camera functionality, lighting, and production techniques.

-       Knowledge of DSLR and Broadcast quality Cameras and Lenses

-       Skills in Non-Linear Editing on Adobe Premier and After Effects on Apple Computers

-       Knowledge of Video Editing Codecs

-       Understanding of the game of Soccer and familiarity with MLS, and U.S. Soccer

Event Operations Intern - Winter 2016/2017 - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview, IL)

The Chicago Fire is looking for students who are interested in gaining experience in operations and how a professional soccer club operates. Students who are available from January through May are preferred, hwoever those able to work from January through the late March/Early April may apply. The Fire accepts a limited number of internships to ensure that interns gain valuable work experience. All Chicago Fire Internships are unpaid and must receive school credit.


Responsibilities: 

  • The primary responsibility is to provide event and game day assistance to gain experience in the Operations Department. This includes:
  • Credential preparation and management
  •  Pre-game preparation
  • Game day operation responsibilities which includes assistance in managing our pre-game festival area - Fire Fest
  • Grassroots marketing efforts
  • Coordination and interface with Fire players, coaches and mascots at community  appearances, autograph signings and events
  • Front office maintenance projects, maintenance of company vehicles, facility upkeep, equipment storage and inventory
  • Occasional First Team operational needs
  • Interns will be expected to work select weekend and weeknight events along with ALL games. Game day duties may include working on promotions, customer service, stadium set-up and teardown. 
  • Candidates should be very comfortable performing physical labor duties on a daily basis. Previous experience in Event Operations is ideal and a strong leadership background is a plus.
  • Candidates available from Jan - April are preferred; candidates available from Jan - May are  are strongly preferred.

Additional Duties: 

  • May be required to assist other departments with various projects
  • Inter-Department Training Program for Ticket Sales, Marketing, Communications and Corporate partnerships will be provided.

Qualifications:

  • Must be eligible to receive course credit for Internship   
  • Students should be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Graduate degree from an accredited university
  • Available for 3 – 4 weekdays per week
  • Students should be well organized and demonstrate an ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision
  • Students should possess strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively work in a collaborative work environment
  • Must be able to work 20-30 hours per week
  • Must be able to work nights weekends & holidays

Fan Experience Intern - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview, IL)

Expectation: Chicago Fire is seeking a smart, service passionate individual who is interested in joining the Fire in the Fan Experience/Customer Service department as an intern. This department focuses on improving the overall gameday experience for our fans through building vendor relationships, tracking feedback and executing the Chicago Fire CHAMPS service and recognition program. This position will be expected to work some nights and weekends (about 25 hours a week), including 100% attendance for Chicago Fire home games.

Graphic Designer Intern - Fall 2016 - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview/Chicago, Il)

Expectations: The Intern Designer position for the Chicago Fire Soccer Club is responsible for any and all creative undertakings by the club across a variety of media including web, print, promotional items and stadium installation/environment. The intern will service all departments with any creative or design needs, from initial concepts to final production, execution and/or distribution. The Intern Designer is responsible for maintaining the visual integrity of the club as perceived by the market, and for strengthening brand presence within that market. He or she must demonstrate the ability to supply creative solutions on a daily basis to a variety of requested projects while remaining organized and on task. Internships are unpaid (except for $100/month transportation stipend) and available only to persons who will receive college or graduate level credit for their work. The Fire accepts a limited number of internships to ensure that interns gain valuable work experience.

Responsibilites:

  • Organize and manage multiple projects in various stages of progress
  • Formulate design concepts, presentations, templates, layouts, merchandise, installations and other collateral from initial idea to final execution
  • Create advertising campaigns that are followed across a variety of collateral
  • Develop understanding of target audience and market for specifically aimed marketing pieces
  • Present or pitch ideas, briefs, and concepts to various parties, in and out of house
  • Prioritize and filter work load coming from all departments through a design request form system
  • Design advertisements, print materials, still digital imaging and web graphics
  • Meet all advertising and print deadlines
  • Contribute to the invention and implementation of marketing/communications initiatives

Requirements

GUEST SERVICE AMBASSADOR : Looking for Customer Service passionate individuals.  The game-day Guest Service Ambassador will work Chicago Fire soccer events at TOYOTA PARK. He/She is primarily responsible for providing each fan with a comfortable and enjoyable environment to view soccer matches. This is accomplished through superior knowledge of guest services and the layout of the facility, while ensuring that all policies and procedures are followed. RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

• Usher- Direct fans around facility (bathrooms, seating, concessions, etc… check tickets, greet fans with a smile & positive attitude, answer questions and ensure all fan needs are met, ensure safety of staff and fans, keep area clean, handle complaints and collect feedback, provide assistance fans with special needs and support other event day staff.

• Guest Relations- provide wheelchair escorts, assist with lost and found, re-unite separated parties, wipe down seats, distribute giveaways, direct fans around facility, greet fans with a smile & positive attitude, answer questions and ensure all fan needs are met, ensure safety of staff and fans, handle complaints and collect feedback and support other event day staff.

• Monitor seating areas, elevators and concourse

QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least 18 years of age

 (up to 4 or more hours) and walk upstairs.

Title:  Soccer In The Community Operations Intern
Reports To:  Manager of Soccer In The Community

Expectations:

  • Operations intern will be assisting with all operational aspects involved in seasonal programming ran by Chicago Fire Soccer In The Community.
  • In this position the candidate will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience working in a dynamic team environment, supporting the execution of the club’s professional, youth soccer outreach initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Order equipment for upcoming programs
  • Prepare ‘camp captain’s packs’ for all camps
  • Collate week of camp invoices for camp manager
  • Manage family housing for international coaching staff
  • Assist with operational plan for staffing and logistics
  • Assist with ‘Graduation Day ceremonies’ at Toyota Park
  • Assist with SITC activation on Chicago Fire game days
  • To be a brand ambassador for the Chicago Fire Soccer Club

Qualifications:

  • Internship must be for college credit
  • Working towards degree in sports and/or business
  • Ability to work in a team/collaborative work environment is required along with strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical and planning skills
  • Valid driver’s license and transportation
  • Experience working within the soccer and/or sport preferred

Video Production Intern (WINTER) - Chicago Fire Rec Soccer (Chicago, IL)

Chicago Fire Rec Soccer (CFRS) is looking for a creative, hard working, individual who is interested in joining the Fire family. CFRS runs adult recreational soccer leagues for coed and men's teams. The intern will be expected to work some nights and weekends (15-25 hours/week).

CFRS is the largest adult rec soccer provider in Chicago. Our home, The PrivateBank Fire Pitch, is the premier soccer facility in the city. As we grow, we're looking for driven young professionals to join our team. Let us know if that sounds like you!

Instructions for candidates:

Qualifications:

The individual should possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency using video editing software (Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premier, etc...) necessary.
  • Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or Dreamweaver a major plus.
  • Goal-oriented, ambitious, honest individuals sought with strong work ethic, dedication and strong desire to learn about the sports industry.
