  • Assist with administrative tasks and grant writing
  • Assist in Chicago Fire Foundation special events
  • Other duties as assigned by Director

Communications Internship - 2015 Season - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview, IL)

The Chicago Fire Soccer Club is seeking a motivated individual to assist with daily media relations duties and game day media operations. This position is for an individual with exceptional written and verbal communications skills. The individual should possess strong time management skills and the ability to multitask.

Applicants should have a strong understanding of the Chicago Fire and Major League Soccer. 

This is an unpaid internship and is for college credit only. Proof that you are receiving credit is required. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Compilation of daily Fire coverage
  • Assist in managing Social Media results
  • Management of Fire media distribution lists
  • Research for and write press releases and other Communications projects
  • Produce Fire related content for press releases and website
  • Participate in Communications department meetings and events
  • Assisting in all aspects of press box operations on game days including press box setup, managing Media Will Call, transcribing quotes and additional duties.

Event Operations Team - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview, IL)

Description: The Chicago Fire Soccer Club is seeking qualified individuals to participate behind the scenes on match days and during special events. The candidate will be an essential part of the Event Operations team by providing material and operational support to the Front Office and First Team. This position will provide a broad and extensive resume-building experience for individuals interested in event or sports management fields.

 Responsibilities:

- Organize, manage and transport operations equipment for Chicago Fire home matches and special events

- Coordinate event logistics, including development and execution of—floor plans, collateral placement, crowd management and emergency safety measures

- Set-up and dress activation areas according to Marketing and Sponsorship contract obligations

- Assist on-field activities on match days by setting up team benches and locker rooms, managing ball kids, sitting stretcher crew and leading kids in pre-game/half-time ceremonies

- Load and transport equipment and manage activations at all grassroots marketing events

- Represent the Chicago Fire Soccer Club and its respective partners/sponsors with pride and passion

- Additional duties assigned by direct supervisor

Qualifications:

• Manage time effectively, with the ability to perform well with strict deadlines

Graphic Design Intern - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview, IL)

Graphic Designer Intern

Reports To:
Senior Manager of Creative Services

EXPECTATIONS:
The Intern Designer position for the Chicago Fire Soccer Club is responsible for any and all creative undertakings by the club across a variety of media including web, print, promotional items and stadium installation/environment. The intern will service all departments with any creative or design needs, from initial concepts to final production, execution and/or distribution. The Intern Designer is responsible for maintaining the visual integrity of the club as perceived by the market, and for strengthening brand presence within that market. He or she must demonstrate the ability to supply creative solutions on a daily basis to a variety of requested projects while remaining organized and on task. Internships are unpaid (except for $100/month transportation stipend) and available only to persons who will receive college or graduate level credit for their work. The Fire accepts a limited number of internships to ensure that interns gain valuable work experience.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design
• Organize and manage multiple projects in various stages of progress
• Formulate design concepts, presentations, templates, layouts, merchandise, installations and other collateral from initial idea to final execution
• Create advertising campaigns that are followed across a variety of collateral
• Develop understanding of target audience and market for specifically aimed marketing pieces
• Present or pitch ideas, briefs, and concepts to various parties, in and out of house
• Prioritize and filter work load coming from all departments through a design request form system
• Design advertisements, print materials, still digital imaging and web graphics
• Meet all advertising and print deadlines
• Contribute to the invention and implementation of marketing/communications initiatives

Demeanor
• Practice a professional attitude when working with outside sources (ie. publications, print partners, creative agencies, vendors)

Internship - Information Technology - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview, IL)

The Information Technology Intern will report directly to the Information Technology Manager.  This position is responsible for assisting with the daily upkeep of the Chicago Fire/Toyota Park data and telecom networks with a specific focus on providing support to the venue on event days.  The Information Technology Intern will also be charged with setting up and maintaining computer hardware and software.  Listed below are the responsibilities and qualifications expected of this position.

 Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in setting up telecom and data connections for Chicago Fire

  • Assist with troubleshooting server, network, desktop hardware, printer and software issues

  • Assist with event execution; responsibilities include but are not limited to:

      • Pre-event set-up (technology needs, broadcast  and internet connections, etc.)

      • Assist with technology needs and issues during the event

      • Audio/Visual assistance

      • Post-event tear-down and cleanup

  • Assist with setting up workstation and telecom needs for all employees

  • Assist with the completion of projects supporting the execution plan of the IT Department

  • Implement facility rules, regulations, policies, and procedures

  • Handle additional administrative duties related to the IT Department as assigned by the IT Manager to include such items as research and development of new IT initiatives

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must be eligible to receive course credit for internship.  Student will receive monthly stipend and school credit only.

  • Students should be pursuing experience in information technology, communications, sports management or a related field.

DESCRIPTION:

The Chicago Fire Soccer Club is seeking an undergraduate or graduate student who is interested in gaining experience in marketing and brand strategy, matchday production, and event & entertainment marketing. Students must be available at least 25 hours per week. Students MUST RECEIVE ACADEMIC CREDIT to qualify for this internship. Date to start: February 2014

POSITION PURPOSE: 

The primary responsibility is to provide weekday and matchday assistance to the Marketing Department. The intern will be expected to: 

- Assist in marketing plan development and execution, including matchday 
- Operate Chicago Fire Junior Supporters Club 
- Assist in design and distribution of marketing collateral 
- Assist in planning and execution of grassroots marketing efforts, including managing lead collection, distribution of promotional items, and creating staff information sheets 
- Assist with strategic partnership fulfillment and agreements 
- Assist with TV/Radio ad management and spot trafficking 
- Research regarding further marketing opportunities for the Chicago Fire and TOYOTA PARK

REQUIREMENTS:

The Chicago Fire is seeking energetic, outgoing, and soccer-passionate individuals to represent the club at home game and events throughout the Chicagoland community. These candidates will be an integral part of all grassroots marketing efforts via brand building and driving ticket sales throughout the Chicagoland area. This part-time, paid promotional position aims to provide those seeking future sports employment with excellent resume-building grassroots marketing and events experience with a professional team.

RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but not limited to):

  • Represent the Chicago Fire at soccer and non-soccer related events such as youth soccer tournaments, festivals, picnics and community events throughout the Chicagoland area year round
  • Raise brand awareness and sell tickets at grassroots events
  • Serve as an knowledgeable source on club news and happenings in the community
  • Set up and transport various interactive elements of the Chicago Fire (truck, interactive activities, tables, tents, etc.) for area events and Chicago Fire home matches

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ticket Operations Internship

This is a full-time seasonal position which will begin in January and end at the conclusion of the 2015 season.  The candidate will be paid hourly and work 25-30 hours a week. Interns will be asked to work some nights and weekends. Applicants should be familiar with Microsoft Office and possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Ticket operations intern will be responsible for assisting the box office in day-to-day operations as well as front office operations and games and events support.

• Sell tickets to walk-up customers at the TOYOTA Park Box Office
• Learn the Archtics ticketing system
• Prepare the box office for game day and event on-sales

• Print and pay all tickets within the Chicago Fire/Toyota Park box office
• Balance all income received from ticket sales/single event daily
• Issue and track all local and national sponsor ticket and all complimentary ticket requests

• Manage main box office on day of events- customer service window
