POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

• The Columbus Crew is seeking a Communications Intern to support the Crew’s Communications Department with its daily media relations and ditigal content duties. The Crew is a charter member of Major League Soccer, and has won one MLS Cup, three Supporters’ Shields and the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, making the club one of the most prestigious professional soccer franchises in North America. The Communications Intern plays a role in all departmental activities, including: day-to-day media relations, player communications, match day press functions and content development for all digital platforms. This position has frequent interaction with the Crew’s management and players, along with team staff from other MLS clubs, and as a result professionalism and attention to detail are critical attributes for this role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist Communications Department with match day media relations responsibilities, including press box management, media credentialing, digital content and post-game quotes
• Create multiple pieces of written content, such as press releases, media advisories, game notes and articles for TheCrew.com (opportunity for published byline)
• Assist with media and internal content needs at team training sessions
• Aggregate and assist with layout of club’s annual media guide
• Maintain club’s current media distribution list, and assist in developing segmented lists, along with research of new potential media outlets and blogs to foster relationships
• Archive and track ongoing media coverage by putting together daily media clips packs
• Other duties and projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong understanding of digital and social media platforms
• Maintain highest level of professionalism within a pro team environment and in media work zones

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• Undergraduate (junior or senior) or Graduate Student with an emphasis in journalism, communications or related field
• Knowledge of global soccer, the Crew and Major League Soccer is preferred
• Must be detail-oriented
• Flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays is required
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Knowledge of Adobe products (InDesign, Photoshop) a plus

Crew Soccer Foundation Charitable Team - Columbus Crew (Columbus, OH)

 

The Crew Soccer Foundation is looking for high-energy, motivated team members to assist us with our 50/50 raffle for the 2014 season. As a Charitable Team Member, you have the opportunity to be an ambassador for the Foundation and educate our fans on the great things we are doing in the community! Team Members will have the following responsibilities:

 

 

• Approach fans pre-game and in-game to explain the 50/50 raffle program and sell tickets.
• Handle the sale and distribution of raffle tickets via electronic hand held device and/or PC.
• Answer questions fans may have about the program and Foundation.
• Turn in all cash and tickets to the Charitable Team Manager at the close of the shift.
• Understand the mission of the Crew Soccer Foundation.
• Hours: team members will be required to report to the stadium three hours before kickoff and work until the 75th minute of the second half.
• Snacks will be provided
• Team Members must be 18 or older unless accompanied by an adult.

 INTERNSHIP PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
• The Columbus Crew is seeking a Creative Services Design Intern to assist the club’s Creative Services Department. The Creative Services Department is an in-house full service design group responsible for all of the team’s marketing and brand collateral. Creative Services Design Intern will report to Director of Creative Services. The Crew is a charter member of Major League Soccer, and has won one MLS Cup, three Supporters’ Shields and the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, making the club one of the most prestigious professional soccer franchises in North America. This is the perfect internship to gain real world experience in the graphics design and creative services field.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist with creative based on the 2014 Brand Platform
•Examples include: web graphics, flyers, email graphics and signage
• Organize photo database
• Help with stadium and match graphics for video board
• Assist with print buying and quoting


QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
• Undergraduate student with emphasis in visual communications
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign)
• Experience in After Effects is a plus
• Strong organizational and time management skills

Database Marketing Manager - Columbus Crew (Columbus, OH)

 

The Database Marketing Coordinator is responsible for the management of the overall strategy of the Columbus Crew database. This position will report to the Vice President of Ticket Sales.

This person will aggressively support the Ticket Sales and Marketing Departments to help drive sales strategies for Crew games and Crew Stadium events.


Responsibilities and Duties:
• Delivering Database Marketing solutions that improve marketing and sales effectiveness.
• Managing the sales and marketing database, along with researching and implementing strategies to improve existing database and Crew Soccer Nation Fan Club.
• Setting up, designing, managing and executing database marketing campaigns and email communications.
• Developing and implementing strategy for targeted marketing campaigns, and tracking/evaluating effectiveness of marketing campaigns to determine ROI.
• Researching, recommending, purchasing and importing additional lists and supplemental data.
• Developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure integrity and accuracy of the database.
• Overseeing compliance with email and direct marketing regulations.
• Implementing and streamlining processes and policies related to marketing campaigns and lead management.
• Working closely with Marketing Department on developing and implementing a variety of research projects, as well as conducts analysis of findings and strategic recommendations.

Ideal Candidates Must Possess:
• A minimum of two (2) years of database management experience (preferably in sports)
• A knowledge of Archtics ticketing system

Match-Day Entertainment Internship - Columbus Crew (Columbus, OH)

 

The Columbus Crew is searching for outgoing college students to support the Crew’s match-day activation during all home matches. This internship provides a variety of sports-marketing related learning experiences, specifically in match-day operations, event production, and fan development.

Reports to: Fan Development Coordinator, and works directly with the Sr. Marketing and Advertising Manager and the Sr. Director of Marketing and Promotions.

Match-Day Responsibilities:
• Assist in the set-up, execution and tear down of match-day elements, including but not limited to plaza and on-field activations, in-match entertainment, and post-match events
• Aid the Crew Sales department with various elements; including but not limited to group activations, on-field recognitions and data capture
• Serve in a variety of operational and production roles ranging from on-field promotions, sponsorship activation and distribution of match-day credentials
• Help educate guests on the Columbus Crew organization, their ticket offers and the promotional opportunities the Crew provides
• Provide a fun, entertaining, and positive experience by interacting and engaging with Crew Stadium guests


Qualifications Required:
• Enrolled college student working toward an undergraduate or graduate degree
• Flexible schedule with the expectation of working nights, weekends and holidays throughout the 2014 Crew season (March-November)
• Must be detail-oriented and able to complete tasks without direct supervision
• Must be able to provide his/her own transportation to and from Crew matches
• Knowledge of the Columbus Crew and Major League Soccer preferred but not required

The primary responsibility of the Night Time Sales Associate is to tailor ticket packages to potential clients. This will be done by understanding needs, then customizing recommendations to meet and exceed those needs. JOB DESCRIPTION / REQUIREMENTS:

• Prospect and promote full and partial Season ticket packages for the Columbus Crew.
• Responsible for creatively building and managing a pipeline.
• Aggressively build new relationships through cold calling, networking, and stadium tours.

• Maintain high level of customer service.
• Involvement in game-day activities, promotions for the Columbus Crew and outside functions including luncheons, business shows, conventions, etc.

Key Functions:
• Responsible for all Crew Gear Store operations including opening/closing registers, assisting customers, restocking inventory and merchandising/display
• Maintaining/updating E-commerce site including product inventories as well product images and descriptions
• Fulfillment of E-commerce orders
• Maintaining a clean store and coordinate with facilities staff for cleaning before each match
• Assist with receiving and processing all product deliveries
• Oversee and assist with quarterly inventory
• Oversee all game day set up needs for team store and other locations
• Responsible for restocking all locations after each game day based on sales to be ready for business for next game day
• Be able to troubleshoot POS system
• Assist with resolving customer issues/concerns
• Responsible for monitoring and re-stocking all locations during matches
• Oversee actions of game day intern(s) from stand set up to inventory restocking and stand breakdown at the end of the match
• Other duties as assigned including assisting with fulfillment of Crew Juniors youth program uniform orders

Qualifications:
• Knowledge of shopping carts and e-commerce operations required
• College graduate
• Merchandising or retail experience a plus but not required
• Proactive and ability to work independently
• Customer service and detail-oriented with strong follow-up skills
• Able to multi-task and prioritize
• Computer skills with proficiency using MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); knowledge of POS systems preferred

 The Columbus Crew Client Services/Ticket Sales internship is designed to give college students the opportunity to develop valuable skills and gain firsthand experience in the professional sports industry. The intern will learn all aspects of the coordination and administration of Ticket Sales, Fan Service, Ticket Operations, Grassroots Event Operations and Game Day Operations. This internship is designed for college students who require an internship to receive college credit.
