Columbus Crew SC (Soccer Club) is the first club in Major League Soccer and in 2015, Crew SC was crowned MLS Eastern Conference Champions in the organization’s 20th season. Owned and operated by Precourt Sports Ventures (PSV), it won its first MLS Cup championship in 2008 and also won the 2002 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup as well as MLS Supporters’ Shield titles in 2004, 2008 and 2009. The 2017 campaign is the Black & Gold’s 19th season at historic MAPFRE Stadium -- the first soccer-specific stadium in the United States – where the club set single-season sellout records and hosted the 2015 MLS Cup. The club was purchased by PSV on July 29, 2013 as part of the privately held investment and management firm’s sports and entertainment business enterprise.

Columbus Crew SC is offering a Database and Analytics Internship designed to offer experience in reviewing and analyzing data within our Sales & Marketing Department.

The 2017 Database and Analytics Internship is available for students actively pursuing education and academic credit may be available. The internship requires approximately 15-20 hours per week at MAPFRE Stadium and collaborates closely with the Manager of CRM & Analytics.

Opportunities & Responsibilities

  • Assist the Sales department with lead generation and tracking
  • Gain experience with SalesForce including creation and execution of reports
  • Assist with email marketing efforts throughout the organization including weekly email marketing performance reports, audience analysis among others
  • Assist in support in the areas of email marketing, database marketing, database management, market research, website analytics and sales analytics
  • Support market research efforts through survey creation, analysis and presentation of findings

Required skills, experience & abilities

  • Undergraduate (junior or senior) or recent graduate with an emphasis in analytics or related field
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Basic understanding of direct marketing and sales including direct mail, outbound telemarketing and email marketing
  • Strong analytic, quantitative and data interpretation skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Able to work independently and take initiative
  • Familiarity with HTML a plus

Columbus Crew SC is seeking a Sales Manager with an ability to create a culture of driving new season memberships and generating revenue with a passion for growing careers. This position is responsible for training and developing members of the inside sales staff with an emphasis on generating revenue through full season equivalents.

The ideal candidate will be a highly-motivated, competitive, experienced sales professional who is career driven and has leadership qualities. The candidate must also cultivate an environment in which opportunities are created for their staff to succeed. The position is based in Columbus, Ohio and reports to the Senior Manager, Ticket Sales.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor the Inside Sales staff, including being a resource for training and continued development of the staff.
  • Responsible for driving new memberships and revenue for the organization.
  • Conduct weekly sales trainings for Inside Sales department.
  • Responsible for recruiting staff for Inside Sales departments, including working closely with Sr. Sales Management in executing Crew SC Sales Training & Job Forum.
  • Generate and manage the distribution of leads utilizing CRM system for entire staff.
  • Create and devise campaigns to drive B2B and B2C membership acquisition opportunities.
  • Meet established revenue goals via the inside sales staff.

Required skills, experience & abilities

  • Undergraduate degree required
  • Minimum of 2 year of Sports sales’ experience required
  • Sales Management experience preferred
  • Ability to lead a young sales staff
  • Ability to cultivate sales talents, identify strengths and weakness and provide disciplined approach to business
  • Committed to success of individuals personally and professionally.
  • High level of organization, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment while meeting deadlines.
  • High proficiency in written and verbal communication including presentation skills
  • Ability to identify opportunities, develop strategies and determine creative solutions which result in successful revenue generation.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Archtics and Salesforce experience a plus.
  • Ability to work some evenings, weekends and holidays.

Columbus Crew SC is seeking a Director of Coaching in our Player Development Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for the collaborative creation and implementation of the age group programming in line with the Crew SC Player Development philosophy and methodology.

The candidate will have primary oversight of the competitive program including curriculum & program development and implementation, seasonal and periodization calendars, management of coaching staff, daily session plans for players and coaches, as well as oversight of the formation of teams in the program. The Director of Coaching must understand and adhere to the high expectations and degree of professionalism associated in working with a professional sports team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain the integrity of the club at all times
  • Follow & Implement the club’s player development and training philosophy
  • Further develop and implement a comprehensive player development curriculum and coach development program
  • Identify, hire and manage coaches
  • Create and implement daily coaching sessions
  • Cultivate a “Love for the game”
  • Organize and run tryouts
  • Ensure coach, player and parent code of conduct is enforced
  • Attend program games and organization/department events
  • Provide consistency within the club
  • Execute coaching education clinics and training sessions for the program, partners and affiliates
  • Identify needs to progress the development of top talent
  • Manage the planning, development and execution of programming
  • Collaborate with marketing, promotions, tickets sales, tickets services, public relations, community relations and other departments to maximize opportunities, share new ideas and fulfill programs
  • Coordinate special events including game presentations, coach and player appearances, speaking engagements, corporate outings, community outreach initiatives and recreational tournaments
  • Review status, challenges, opportunities, new programs and promotions regularly. 
  • Promote Columbus Crew SC through representation in community activities and civic organizations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required skills, experience & abilities

  • Bachelor degree in Sports Management, Education or related field – Masters Preferred
  • U.S.S.F A or B license
  • Skill leader with inclusive leadership style
  • Ability to think and plan strategically and practically to convert visions to reality
  • 2-3 years’ experience in Player Development
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and high attention to detail
  • Excellent IT and Presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Manage administrative & competitive programs with the club
  • High ability to take initiative as well as anticipate and solve problems
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • High proficiency in managing administrative processes and programs
  • Demonstrated professionalism with both internal and external audiences
  • Able to work independently and with a team
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours including weekends and holidays as necessary
