Columbus Crew SC (Soccer Club) is the first club in Major League Soccer and in 2015, Crew SC was crowned MLS Eastern Conference Champions in the organization’s 20th season. Owned and operated by Precourt Sports Ventures (PSV), it won its first MLS Cup championship in 2008 and also won the 2002 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup as well as MLS Supporters’ Shield titles in 2004, 2008 and 2009. The 2016 campaign is the Black & Gold’s 18th season at historic MAPFRE Stadium -- the first soccer-specific stadium in the United States – where the club set single-season sellout records and hosted the 2015 MLS Cup. The club was purchased by PSV on July 29, 2013 as part of the privately held investment and management firm’s sports and entertainment business enterprise.

Description

Columbus Crew SC is seeking a Business Development Manager in the Corporate Partnerships Department to develop relationships and sell sponsorships to help grow the business. A successful candidate will be passionate and knowledgeable about soccer, familiar with Major League Soccer and can successfully share this effectively with prospective clients in a relatable manner. The position is based in Columbus, Ohio and reports to the VP of Corporate Partnerships.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Generate Crew SC and MAPFRE Stadium sponsorship revenue through sales of signage, electronic and print media, in-stadium events and promotions, community and charitable assets and hospitality elements
  • Lead or assist in prospecting, develop client proposals and negotiate the sale of new sponsorship business
  • Secure new Club corporate partnerships through prospecting of local, regional and national companies
  • Aggressively build new relationships in sponsor categories to meet monthly, quarterly and annual sales goals
  • Actively participate in departmental brainstorm sessions and collaborate with multiple internal departments to facilitate proposals and generate sales revenue.
  • Present business updates, new opportunities and industry-driven initiatives to the ownership team, executive team, departmental management team, and other sales leaders as necessary
  • Create innovative/integrated platforms to attract corporate partners and to separate Crew SC from others in the marketplace
  • Maximize Club relationships through full development and exploration of assigned accounts
  • Maintain high level of customer service and relationship building
  • Utilize Crew SC  partnerships to further develop team’s supporter base and marketing messages


Required skills, experience & abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of sales experience preferably within the sports or entertainment industry
  • Passion for sports with understanding and passion for soccer in particular
  • Ability to identify opportunities, develop strategies and negotiate creative solutions which result in mutually beneficial partnerships
  • High level of organization, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Understanding of social media and digital assets and how to maximize it as a sponsor benefit
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly establish relationship with top level decision makers
  • Demonstrated ability to develop impactful proposals and solicitations
  • High proficiency in written and verbal communication including presentation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel programs. Experience with Salesforce a plus.
  • Ability to work some nights, weekends and holidays

MAPFRE Stadium is seeking part-time seasonal Experience Team Members for the 2016 season.

The Experience Team plays a vital role when it comes to creating a clean, safe, and enjoyable experience for our fans and guests. As the first point of contact for guest requests and needs, courteous hospitality must be exhibited at all times. Experience Team Members are encouraged to be proactive in every area while demonstrating a professional manner.

All Experience Team Members, including Ushers and Greeters, are responsible for providing exceptional customer service at MAPFRE Stadium by making every effort to ensure a positive guest experience. The Experience Team serves an essential function by hosting guests visiting the stadium and by utilizing an ever-growing knowledge of our facility and events.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide highest level of customer service to ensure guests’ expectations are exceeded and their overall experience at MAPFRE Stadium is positive and memorable
  • Create a welcoming experience for guests
  • Facilitate all guest-related matters in a professional and courteous manner through creative problem-solving
  • Scan tickets for entry with a smile and friendly greeting
  • Check tickets and direct guest to appropriate seats in all areas of MAPFRE Stadium
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the venue policies, procedures and event information
  • Enforce policies during an event to assure the safety and security of all guests
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with all patrons and fellow staff members

Required skills, experience & abilities

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and must be legally eligible for employment in the United States (proof of eligibility will be required prior to beginning work)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population, including strong verbal communication skills. Second language a plus
  • Previous customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and may include walking long distances and climbing stairs
  • Punctuality is essential
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 80% of all scheduled MAPFRE Stadium events. The Major League Soccer (MLS) season begins in March and generally ends in November
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions that includes the extreme heat, cold , rain, sleet, snow and direct sunlight
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times

Description

Columbus Crew SC is seeking a Youth Goalkeeper Coach in our Player Development Department. The position is considered an independent contractor and training sessions are in the Greater Columbus area. The annual season begins at end of May and runs through mid-June of the following calendar year.

Player Development Coaches are expected to actively communicate with players and parents, develop players both on and off the field and demonstrate the high expectations and level of professionalism associated in working with a professional sports organization.

Player Development Coaches report to the Zone 1 Coordinator and involve close collaboration with the other coaches and the full Player Development Department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Implement high-level, professional Goalkeeping coaching sessions following the Columbus Crew SC philosophy and curriculum
  • Schedule and lead weekly training sessions each season
  • Serve as a brand ambassador for Columbus Crew SC representing the brand positively at all times and within the community
  • Communicate weekly with Player Development Directors
  • Help conduct, lead and support age group tryouts
  • Attend internal Crew SC Player Development trainings and meetings and pursue continuing education opportunities

 Required skills, experience & abilities

  • Minimum of USSF “D” License & U.S. Soccer or NSCAA Goalkeeping License
  • Minimum of 2 years’ youth soccer Goalkeeping coaching experience
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and high school diploma/GED required, higher education preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population, including strong verbal communication skills. Second language a plus
  • Ability to consistently work evenings and weekends
  • Coaching philosophy and style consistent with club environment (emphasis on development of both as a player and as a person)
  • CPR & AED certified
  • Reliable Transportation
