Columbus Crew SC (Soccer Club) is the first club in Major League Soccer and in 2015, Crew SC was crowned MLS Eastern Conference Champions in the organization’s 20th season. Owned and operated by Precourt Sports Ventures (PSV), it won its first MLS Cup championship in 2008 and also won the 2002 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup as well as MLS Supporters’ Shield titles in 2004, 2008 and 2009. MAPFRE Stadium is seeking part-time seasonal Experience Team Members for the 2017 season. Experience Team Members serve in an important capacity including Ushers, Greeters and Ticket Takers among other guest service roles.

The Experience Team plays a vital role when it comes to creating a clean, safe, and enjoyable experience for our fans and guests. As the first point of contact for guest requests and needs, courteous hospitality must be exhibited at all times. Experience Team Members are encouraged to be proactive in every area while demonstrating a professional manner.

All Experience Team Members are responsible for providing exceptional customer service at MAPFRE Stadium by making every effort to ensure a positive guest experience. The Experience Team serves an essential function by hosting guests visiting the stadium and by utilizing an ever-growing knowledge of our facility and events.

The hours for Experience Team Member positions are highly variable and dependent on the Crew SC and MAPFRE Stadium event schedule. Experience Team Members are required to work events in their entirety including pre- and post-event responsibilities as well as at least 80% of Crew SC home matches and MAPFRE Stadium events.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide highest level of customer service to ensure guests’ expectations are met or exceeded and their overall experience at MAPFRE Stadium is positive and memorable
  • Create a welcoming experience for guests
  • Facilitate all guest-related matters in a professional and courteous manner through creative problem-solving
  • Scan tickets for entry with a smile and friendly greeting
  • Check tickets and direct guests to appropriate seats in all areas of MAPFRE Stadium
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the venue policies, procedures and event information
  • Enforce policies during an event to assure the safety and security of all guests
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with all patrons and fellow staff members

Required skills, experience & abilities

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and must be legally eligible for employment in the United States (proof of eligibility will be required prior to beginning work)
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 80% of all scheduled MAPFRE Stadium events. The Major League Soccer (MLS) season begins in March and generally ends in November
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population, including strong verbal communication skills. Second language a plus
  • Ability to maintain friendly demeanor and professional behavior with guests, supporters and staff in pressure-filled situations
  • Ability to take on any role within the Experience Team (and switch roles as necessary) depending on event requirements
  • Previous customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and may include walking long distances and climbing stairs
  • Punctuality and reliability are essential for success
  • Ability to stay alert and observant during Crew SC home Matches and MAPFRE Stadium Events to ensure patron safety
  • Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions that includes the extreme heat, cold , rain, sleet, snow and direct sunlight
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays

Columbus Crew SC is seeking an Information Technology Intern to support Crew SC’s IT Department. The internship offers the opportunity to learn and develop skills in IT and also experience in a professional sports environment.

The IT Internship requires 15-20 hours per week and offers a balance between hours in the office and Matchday participation.  This internship has flexible hours to allow the opportunity to learn from experienced IT professionals while balancing a course schedule simultaneously. The internship reports directly to the IT Manager and is based at MAPFRE Stadium.

Opportunities & Responsibilities

  • Assist with Windows desktop support including practical experience in configuration, set-up and troubleshooting.
  • Assist in Windows Server management including Active Directory, File and print server, DNS and DHCP management
  • VMware server environment management including use of end user virtual desktops.
  • Assist in Cisco network and phone system management including experience with Cisco Unity.
  • Collaborate with IT Manager with end user support with Windows 7, 8, 10 and MAC OS as well as email set-up on mobile devices.
  • Participate in event management including set-up of additional connection points for vendors as well as Crew SC staff while monitoring connectivity needs throughout major MAPFRE Stadium events.
  • Researching new technology in order to improve infrastructure and productivity.
  • Special requests & reporting as needed.

Required skills, experience & abilities

  • Actively enrolled in a college, university or technical  program or recent graduate in IT or related field
  • Basic knowledge of CISCO switches, routers, wireless access points, andwireless LAN controllers.
  • Knowledge of both PC and Mac technologies.
  • Knowledge of Cloud Technologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population.
  • Able to work some evenings, weekends and holidays

Columbus Crew SC is offering opportunities to join our Sales Development Program. The primary purpose of the Sales Development Program is to build practical experience and learn skills that develop participants’ ability to tailor ticket packages to potential clients.

The Sales Development Program offers an intimate knowledge of the Crew SC brand, products, and services as well as the techniques and processes needed to effectively sell to customers. Participants will also receive top-of-the-line sales training from current Crew SC professionals during the ten week program.

The Sales Development Program is strictly a training program to develop sales techniques and there is no fee to participate. Participants will be able to put these techniques into practice by selling Crew SC products and are eligible for commission on successful sales.

The Sales Development Program is a great option for a business professional or college student looking to break into the sports industry, and gain the necessary sales experience needed for an entry level sales position.  Talented professionals looking for career growth are also welcome to apply. Top performers may earn the opportunity to join the Columbus Crew SC’s Outside Sales staff in a full time capacity.  Many current Crew SC professionals have started in this role and moved up throughout the organization.

Columbus Crew SC is seeking a Staff Accountant to be responsible for working with each department for the Team, Stadium and Crew Youth entities.  This position will be responsible for assisting with management of General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable functions.

The position is based in Columbus, Ohio and reports to the Director of Finance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage and control payables for 3 companies
  • Monthly bank reconciliations
  • Input and reconcile General Ledger activity
  • Assist with monthly reporting
  • Assist with daily banking and cash needs
  • Prepare documentation for external auditors
  • Other duties as assigned, including day of match responsibilities

Required skills, experience & abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Accounting or Finance major preferred
  • At least one year of experience in accounting environment
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office programs
  • Experience with Microsoft Great Plains preferred
