Columbus Crew SC (Soccer Club) is the first club in Major League Soccer and 2015 is the organization’s 20th season. Owned and operated by Precourt Sports Ventures (PSV), it won its first MLS Cup championship in 2008, and has also won the 2002 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and MLS Supporters’ Shield titles in 2004, 2008 and 2009. 2015 is Crew SC’s 17th season at historic MAPFRE Stadium, the first soccer-specific stadium in the United States. The club was purchased by PSV on July 29, 2013 as part of the privately held investment and management firm’s sports and entertainment business enterprise.

Description

Columbus Crew SC Academy is seeking a Team Coordinator. This position is responsible for leading and executing Crew SC Academy administration, logistics and operations. This position must understand and respect the high expectations and professionalism associated in working with a professional sports team.  The Team Coordinator supports the Academy technical staff on all team and player operations.

The position is based in Columbus, Ohio and reports to the Academy Director. Night and weekend commitments are required and some travel.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

·         Administration of Crew SC Academy program including, but not limited to communication with players and parents, coordination of times and locations for trainings and games, managing training log and attendance, and managing equipment and apparel needs for games and training

·         Collection and processing of all US Soccer Developmental Academy paperwork

·         Manage and maintain the Academy online database including registration of players and staff

·         Coordinate travel and logistics for away events, including transportation and lodging among others

·         Manage game day operations for home events

·         Liaise with US Soccer on rules and guidelines applicable to US Soccer Developmental Academy

Required skills, experience & abilities

·         Bachelor’s degree in business, sports management or related field

·         Demonstrated understanding of the full soccer landscape

·         2-3 years of experience in the sports industry preferred

·         High ability to take initiative as well as anticipate and solve problems

·         Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment

·         High proficiency in managing administrative processes and programs

·         Demonstrated professionalism with both internal and external audiences

·         Able to work independently and with a team

·         Must be available some evenings and weekends

Description

Columbus Crew SC is offering internships in our Player Development Department. This internship is designed to offer experience in the day-to-day operation of Crew SC Academy, Player Development system and Crew Camp Programming. The Player Development internship is a great way to interact and collaborate across Crew SC.

Internships are available for recent graduates or students actively pursuing education and academic credit may be available. The internship requires approximately 15-20 hours per week at the Stadium and requires some evenings and weekends.

Opportunities & Responsibilities

·         Gain knowledge/understanding of developing business and managing projects

·         Gain knowledge/understanding of developing professional soccer players

·         Assist in the preparation, marketing and execution of Programming

·         Assist in organization, administration and record keeping

·         Interaction with youth players, parents and supporters

·         Assist in all areas of the Player Development Department

Required skills, experience & abilities

·         Must be a minimum of 18 years of age

·         Must be enrolled in a college or university program or recent graduate

·         Looking for candidates who are ambitious, driven and motivated

·         Demonstrated professionalism with both internal and external audiences

·         Able to work independently and with a team

·         Prior work or volunteer experience in similar roles a plus

·         Knowledge of Columbus Crew SC and Major League Soccer preferred

·         Must be available some evenings and weekends
