Accounting Manager - Columbus Crew (Columbus, OH)

The Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to accounting functions including the general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and inventory.  This position will be responsible for daily, weekly and monthly accounting tasks and activities.  The Accounting Manager will report directly to the Vice President of Finance & Business Planning and supervises one staff accountant.  This is a professional position that will interface with each department for the Team and Stadium entities. This position must meet tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation and financial reporting.




·                     Apply a thorough understanding of financial reporting and general ledger structure

·                     Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close

·                     Assist with financial statement presentation and supporting schedules

·                     Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities

·                     Work with the retained CPA firm to ensure clean and timely year end audits

·                     Manage and control accounts payables, accounts receivable, payroll and inventory

·                     Coordinate invoicing with Corporate Sponsorship department

·                     Monthly bank reconciliations

·                     Input and reconcile general ledger activity

·                     Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources                         while maintaining a high level of accuracy

·                     Provide training to new and existing staff as needed

·                     Work with direct report to establish performance goals and objectives for each year and monitor                           and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff

·                     Other duties as assigned




·                     Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university (Accounting or Finance degree preferred)

·                     CPA or Master’s degree preferred

·                     A minimum of three (3) years of accounting and managerial experience

·                     Excellent skills in Microsoft Office programs

·                     Experience with Great Plains accounting software preferred

·                     Excellent oral and written communication skills

·                     Ability to work well within a team environment

·                     Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision

·                     Positive attitude and strong work ethic

·                     Detail-oriented and organized approach

·                     Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks on a daily basis

·                     Some weekend work required

Grassroots Marketing Internship Program - Columbus Crew (Columbus, OH)


Are you outgoing, energetic, and innovative? The Columbus Crew is searching for individuals to serve as ambassadors for the Crew’s Street Team and grassroots marketing initiatives. Street Team ambassadors will be responsible for facilitating the Crew’s grassroots marketing efforts throughout Ohio. This position provides a variety of sports-marketing related learning experiences, specifically in lead generation, event production, ticket sales and promotions, and fan development.


Reports to: Fan Development Coordinator and Outside Sales Manager, and also works directly with the Sr. Marketing and Advertising Manager, Sr. Director of Marketing and Promotions.


Grassroots Responsibilities:
• Serve as the Crew ambassador at events throughout Ohio
• Help educate event goers on the Columbus Crew organization, their ticket offers and the promotional opportunities the Crew provides
• Aid in the growth of the Crew database by capturing data on event goers
• Provide a fun, entertaining, and positive experience by interacting and engaging with event goers
• Research new opportunities allowing the organization to further integrate the Crew brand throughout Ohio


Match-Day Responsibilities:

• Assist the Crew front office staff in providing guests with an exceptional experience while visiting Crew Stadium

• Assist in the set-up and tear down of Scotts Field seats before and after the match
• Interact with Crew Stadium guests and aid in the Crew’s data capture efforts in order to build the Crew database
• Work with the sales department to provide a positive atmosphere for large group outings, and educate guests on various upcoming Columbus Crew matches and offers


Qualifications Required:
• Flexible schedule with the expectation of working nights, weekends and holidays throughout the remainder of 2014 MLS season (August-November)
• Must be detail-oriented and able to complete tasks without direct supervision
• Must be able to provide his/her own transportation to and from Crew matches, and some events
• Knowledge of the Columbus Crew and Major League Soccer preferred but not required.

Merchandise Department Internship - Columbus Crew (Columbus, OH)


The Columbus Crew is currently recruiting an intern for our Merchandise and Retail Department. This internship will work closely with the Merchandise Manager and Merchandise Coordinator in all areas of the Merchandise Department.  Applicants should have strong time management skills and the ability to multi-task. This position will be based within the Merchandise Department, but will also interact with all other departments within the organization.


Reports To:  Merchandise Manager



·         Assist with inventory management and planning of Crew branded merchandise

·         Assist with all pre-event and event operations within the department

·         Learn and execute the match-day set up of merchandise selling locations

·         Expereince all aspects of managing the Crew Gear store incliding customer service, display of product and inventory management

·         Learn the POS register/inventory system to be able to troubleshoot issues and assist with maintaining product database

·         Assist with development and execution of marketing plan for merchandise department

·         Assist with fulfillment of Crew Youth Development Program uniform orders

·         Develop clerical skills including data entry, copying, filing and reporting



·         Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university

·         Proactive and able to work independently

·         Strong customer service skills, detailed oriented and outgoing personality

·         Able to multi-task and prioritize

·         Computer skills with proficiency using MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

·         Flexible and adaptable to various environments and situations

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills

·         Merchandising or retail experience a plus but not required

Facility Operations/Security: Custodial/Housekeeping
Part-Time Housekeeper - Columbus Crew, Columbus Crew Stadium (Columbus, OH)

 Reports to: Facility Coordinator

The employee will be primarily responsible for daily housekeeping and some facility management duties for Crew Stadium in Columbus and the Columbus Crew Training Facility in Obetz. This position will require working 20-30 hours weekly, including transportation between facilities and will include evening hours working with limited supervision. In addition to normal scheduled hours, event day availability may be required.

Essential Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist in changeovers and conversions required for event set-up
- Actively record maintenance and cleanliness issues; reporting them to superiors
- Perform daily housekeeping and janitorial duties in office, locker rooms, and food-service areas
- Make recommendations to Facility Coordinator for needed supplies, equipment, and repair items and assist the Facility Coordinator in inventories of all janitorial supplies
- Participate in facility preparations for concerts and festivals
- Perform daily recycling and trash collection and removal
- Daily and repetitive wiping, dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping
- Adhere to high standards of cleanliness and attention to detail
- Perform minor maintenance tasks

- Previous experience with janitorial, housekeeping, and/ or custodial duties is required
- Previous experience in the sports/ entertainment industry is preferred
- Must provide own transportation to, between, and from both facilities

Performance Requirements:
- Must be able to safely handle and utilize cleaning products, including liquids and aerosols, and cleaning equipment in compliance with current OSHA standards
- Must be willing to work long, flexible hours including evenings/nights, weekends, and some holidays based on team and event schedules
- May occasionally work on slippery and uneven surfaces
- Must tolerate bending, climbing stairs or equipment, and lifting frequently, as well as long periods of standing or walking
- Must be able to lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds
- Highly organized and skilled with time management of multiple tasks
- Must be able to work independently and without direct supervision
