Columbus Crew SC Overview

Columbus Crew SC (Soccer Club) is the first club in Major League Soccer and in 2015, Crew SC was crowned MLS Eastern Conference Champions in the organization’s 20th season. Owned and operated by Precourt Sports Ventures (PSV), it won its first MLS Cup championship in 2008 and also won the 2002 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup as well as MLS Supporters’ Shield titles in 2004, 2008 and 2009. The 2018 campaign is the Black & Gold’s 20th season at historic MAPFRE Stadium -- the first soccer-specific stadium in the United States – where the club set single-season sellout records and hosted the 2015 MLS Cup. The club was purchased by PSV on July 29, 2013 as part of the privately held investment and management firm’s sports and entertainment business enterprise.

Columbus Crew SC offers a variety of internship opportunities throughout the season designed to allow exposure to multiple Crew SC departments and a wide range of experiences in a professional sports environment. To learn more, visit

All internships are primarily based at MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus, Ohio and have flexible hours to allow the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals while balancing a course schedule simultaneously. Academic credit for internships may also be available.

Communications - the Communications Intern plays a role in all departmental activities, including day-to-day media relations, player communications, Matchday press functions and content development.

Community Relations & Foundation Supporting Crew SC’s Community Relations & Foundation Department., this internship offers the opportunity to learn and develop skills in donation requests, organization wide volunteer programs, player appearances and Columbus Crew SC Foundation events.

Corporate Partnerships – Gain experience in the management, activation and service of Crew SC Corporate Partnerships.

Database & Analytics – Develop experience reviewing and analyzing data within our Sales & Marketing Department.

Digital Communications - Learn and develop skills in digital content maintenance and analysis on and related social media platforms.

Digital Content – This internship offers the opportunity to learn and develop skills in digital content creation on our website and social media platforms.

Digital and Social Media - Gain experience in digital and social media in a professional sports environment.

Facilities – Designed for students excited to learn more about Matchday and event operations as well as day-to-day stadium operations.

Grassroots Marketing – Assist with development of Crew SC grassroots initiatives and extending the Columbus Crew SC brand within the state of Ohio by contributing to key events, building relationships with event stakeholders and researching new techniques, approaches and set-ups.

Grounds - Responsible for the upkeep of the Stadium pitch, Stadium landscape and the EAS Training Facility. The Grounds Internship provides students with hands-on experience with professional sports turf management.

Human Resources - The HR internship offers an introduction to the role of an HR generalist as well as exposure to basic Human Resources practices and procedures.

Information Technology (IT) – Gain practical experience in desktop support and troubleshooting, network and server management as well as event set-up and maintenance.

Marketing - Experience and assist with the day-to-day Club marketing activations and responsibilities. The Marketing Intern focuses on expansion of the Crew SC brand in the broader market as well as Crew SC Matches.

Match Activation – Involvement in a variety of sports marketing related experiences, specifically in event production, supporter engagement and promotions.

Matchday Communications – Involvement in all departmental activities on Crew SC Matchdays, including, but not limited to media credentialing, check-in, photo marshal assistance, statistical creation and distribution as well as post-match quote transcription.

Matchday Facilities Students will gain exposure to matchday and event operations as well as day-to-day stadium operations

Matchday Digital Communications Interns will learn and develop skills in digital content creation specific to event and matchdays.

Matchday Digital and Social Media Students will gain experience in digital and social media platforms specific to event and matchdays.

Media Asset Management - This internship will work closely with the Video Content Producer and Video Production Manager to log, organize and archive digital media assets.

Motion Graphic Designer – Interns will assist the creative services and brand development departments with marketing and brand collateral.

Photography - Assist the Club’s creative services in cataloguing and managing photo databases as well as photographing matches and other Crew SC events.

Player Development - Experience the day-to-day operation of the Player Development system and Crew SC Camp Programming. The Player Development internship is a great way to interact and collaborate across the Club.

Sales & Service - Gain valuable experience a professional sales setting while learning from current sales leaders and engaging with supporters.

Stadium Operations - With a focus on day-to-day operations and event day setup and preparation, this internship offers practical experience in ensuring supporters and guests’ positive experience at MAPFRE Stadium.

Supporter Service – Assist in ensuring a positive and welcoming supporter experience while gaining exposure in a professional front office environment.

Ticket Operations – This internship offers exposure to basic ticketing practices and operating systems as well as development of customer service and communication skills.

Video Production - Collaborate closely with the Video Production Team and as well as with Digital and Creative Services to assist in creation and implementation of content on digital and broadcast platforms.
