Spring 2015 Marketing Intern - BBVA Compass Stadium (Dynamo Stadium) (Houston, TX)

The BBVA Compass Stadium Marketing, PR & Booking department is seeking intern candidates. This exciting position offers the selected individuals the opportunity to experience communications and operations aspects of a professional sports and entertainment organization. Candidates will gain valuable experience in the fast-paced world of sports and entertainment through the execution of a variety of public and private events.

Qualified applicants should be pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations or sport management. Previous experience with a professional sports team, agency or event marketing is a plus. The ability to work nights/weekends, game days and holidays is imperative.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Assist with the development & execution of marketing, PR & social media campaigns for all events.
• Assist with on-site event & media management for event/game days.
• Develop and maintain sports & entertainment media databases.
• Manage & grow social media program and networks.
• Research & organize sales/booking opportunities.
• Aid in the development and management of new creative outreach opportunities.
• Aid in community outreach development & grassroots marketing efforts.
• Coordinate & manage social media & website tracking reports.
• Assist other stadium departments as needed.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & ABILITY:

Graphic Designer Intern

Reports To:
Senior Manager of Creative Services

EXPECTATIONS:
The Intern Designer position for the Chicago Fire Soccer Club is responsible for any and all creative undertakings by the club across a variety of media including web, print, promotional items and stadium installation/environment. The intern will service all departments with any creative or design needs, from initial concepts to final production, execution and/or distribution. The Intern Designer is responsible for maintaining the visual integrity of the club as perceived by the market, and for strengthening brand presence within that market. He or she must demonstrate the ability to supply creative solutions on a daily basis to a variety of requested projects while remaining organized and on task. Internships are unpaid (except for $100/month transportation stipend) and available only to persons who will receive college or graduate level credit for their work. The Fire accepts a limited number of internships to ensure that interns gain valuable work experience.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design
• Organize and manage multiple projects in various stages of progress
• Formulate design concepts, presentations, templates, layouts, merchandise, installations and other collateral from initial idea to final execution
• Create advertising campaigns that are followed across a variety of collateral
• Develop understanding of target audience and market for specifically aimed marketing pieces
• Present or pitch ideas, briefs, and concepts to various parties, in and out of house
• Prioritize and filter work load coming from all departments through a design request form system
• Design advertisements, print materials, still digital imaging and web graphics
• Meet all advertising and print deadlines
• Contribute to the invention and implementation of marketing/communications initiatives

The Chicago Fire Soccer Club is seeking an undergraduate or graduate student who is interested in gaining experience in marketing and brand strategy, matchday production, and event & entertainment marketing. POSITION PURPOSE:

Ticket Operations Internship

This is a full-time seasonal position which will begin in January and end at the conclusion of the 2015 season.  The candidate will be paid hourly and work 25-30 hours a week. Interns will be asked to work some nights and weekends. Applicants should be familiar with Microsoft Office and possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Ticket operations intern will be responsible for assisting the box office in day-to-day operations as well as front office operations and games and events support.

Job Responsibilities:

• Sell tickets to walk-up customers at the TOYOTA Park Box Office
• Learn the Archtics ticketing system
• Prepare the box office for game day and event on-sales
• Provide a high level of customer service at Fire home games and other TOYOTA Park events
• Create and distribute Archtics reports as necessary
• Print and pay all tickets within the Chicago Fire/Toyota Park box office
• Balance all income received from ticket sales/single event daily
• Issue and track all local and national sponsor ticket and all complimentary ticket requests

The Chicago Fire Soccer Club is seeking a motivated individual to assist with daily media relations duties and game day media operations. The Information Technology Intern will report directly to the Information Technology Manager.  This position is responsible for assisting with the daily upkeep of the Chicago Fire/Toyota Park data and telecom networks with a specific focus on providing support to the venue on event days.  The Information Technology Intern will also be charged with setting up and maintaining computer hardware and software.  Listed below are the responsibilities and qualifications expected of this position.

 Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in setting up telecom and data connections for Chicago Fire

  • Assist with troubleshooting server, network, desktop hardware, printer and software issues

  • Assist with event execution; responsibilities include but are not limited to:

      • Pre-event set-up (technology needs, broadcast  and internet connections, etc.)

      • Assist with technology needs and issues during the event

      • Audio/Visual assistance

      • Post-event tear-down and cleanup

  • Assist with setting up workstation and telecom needs for all employees

  • Assist with the completion of projects supporting the execution plan of the IT Department

  • Implement facility rules, regulations, policies, and procedures

Qualifications:

Owned and operated by Precourt Sports Ventures (PSV), and the League's first club, it won its first MLS Cup championship in 2008, and has also won the 2002 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and MLS Supporters’ Shield titles in 2004, 2008 and 2009. 2014 is the Crew’s 16th season at first-of-its-kind Crew Stadium, the first topflight soccer-specific facility built in the United States. Description

Columbus Crew SC is looking for a Team Operations Intern. This three-month internship is an excellent avenue to gain experience in team operations. The Team Operations intern will work closely with the Director of Team Operations, Equipment Manager and the First Team. The internship offers a stipend and can also be for academic credit.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

-         Assist in managing all administrative functions of the First Team

D.C. United is seeking an individual to assist with all aspects of the club’s video and multimedia production.

Candidates must possess technical knowledge and skill in the following:

  • Operating and handling DV & HD camera equipment
  • Final Cut Pro, Avid Express or other non-linear editing program
  • MAC & FTP savvy
  • Owning HD camera gear a plus
  • Knowledge of Video Compression, After Effects, Motion Graphics a plus
  • Knowledge of Major League Soccer a plus

The internship places large responsibility upon the individual, allowing him or her to handle numerous aspects of the club’s behind-the-scenes video pieces about the team.  Under the direction of the Communications Department, the individual will also have a hand in generating and executing ideas.

The individual will also have the opportunity to shoot games from the sideline, interview players in the locker room and cover players outside of their soccer lives.   The internship then allows the individual the opportunity to gain valuable experience in editing software including Final Cut Pro, After Effects, Live Type, Motion, DVD Studio Pro and Soundtrack/Sonicfire Pro.

The ideal candidate should be a self-starter, an independent worker, trustworthy and organized with strong communication skills. Candidates should also have a full time commitment on days available and a flexible schedule.  This position requires work on evenings and weekends based on the teams schedule.

FC Dallas Athletic Training Graduate Internship - FC Dallas (Frisco, TX)

FC Dallas Medical staff and Texas Health Resources training staff are looking for an Athletic Training Graduate intern.  This internship is unpaid and must be used to receive college credit from an accredited university.  The Athletic Training Graduate Intern will support the entire FC Dallas medical staff and would have responsibilities to both the 1st team and the Development Academy.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performance of athletic training duties
  • Operates under the supervision and direction of the FC Dallas Medical Staff and Team Physician
  • Assist with pre-season/new player entrance physicals, including baseline FMS/Movement Efficiency screens
  • Assist with set-up/break-down prior to and following all training sessions and matches
  • Assist in providing medical coverage for training sessions and matches
  • Data tracking and analysis of athletic training room/nutrition center inventory and restocking when necessary
  • Assist with various administrative duties such as organization/managing/filing paperwork
  • Assist in the implementation of Emergency Action Plans for all FC Dallas facilities including Toyota stadium, adjacent fields, weight room and athletic training rooms
  • Assist in designing/implementation/supervision of rehab & maintenance programs for injured athletes
  • Assist with injury evaluations and daily treatment sessions as needed
  • Assist with the supervision of undergraduate athletic training interns in the prevention, care and rehabilitation of FC Dallas players and Development Academy teams

Requirements

2015 Spring Internship - Creative Design - FC Dallas (Frisco, TX)

FC Dallas of Major League Soccer and Toyota Stadium are looking for a student intern to work with the Creative Team in the creation and design of print and online/digital content. We have created a unique hands on experience for students looking to gain experience in the Sports and Entertainment industry. We are looking for bright, passionate, hard-working students to be a part of our team through our internship program. 

Toyota stadium & Soccer Center is a first-of-its-kind facility located in Frisco, Texas. The complex features two major components: a 20,000 seat, state-of-the-art pro stadium immediately adjacent to a sports park with 17 championship-quality sports/soccer fields. Toyota Stadium and Soccer Center is in use over 300 days per year, showcasing a wide variety of local, regional, national and international events.

All internships for FC Dallas and Toyota Stadium are unpaid internships, and must be used to receive college credit from an accredited university. The internships allow the individual to gain valuable experience with a professional organization for their future in the sports, entertainment, marketing, and sales industries. Hours can be flexible to accommodate with your school or work schedule. Some nights and weekends will be required.

CREATIVE DESIGN INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and design flyers, posters and other collateral to support the Sales, Partnerships and Marketing departments
  • Assist the Marketing team with the creation and design of online/digital graphics to use on web and social media outlets
  • Assist the Creative Team in photography projects from player photo and video shoots to merchandise product shoots

QUALIFICATIONS:

The PORTLAND TIMBERS have an internship opportunity in the Community Relations Department. As an intern with the Portland Timbers you will have the distinct opportunity to be part of our 2015 MLS Season. Internships are open to current college students or recent college graduates.

Selection for an internship will be made based on applicable skills, experience and area(s) of education. Be sure to clearly demonstrate your skills, experience and area(s) of interest in your application. Start date will be during the month of February. Duration of internships will be based on performance and/or business needs.

The Community Relations Intern will assist with running the Stand Together Brand- including working on community programs, fundraising, executing donations, writing stories/articles, and more. The ideal candidate must have a strong desire to work in the sports industry as well as with the nonprofit sector, with an understanding of sport and social change work. Fundraising or nonprofit experience is a plus.

Required Qualifications:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Comfort with appropriately representing Stand Together, the Portland Thorns FC, and the Portland Timbers onsite and at external events
• The ability to prioritize, multitask and pay close attention to details
• The ability to work effectively independently, with a team and/or with clients
• Availability to attend all Timbers and Thorns matches (including nights and weekend)

Preferred Qualifications:
• Computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office programs
• Must have outstanding follow through and organizational skills
• Fundraising and/or sales experience
• Ability to learn new computer software and troubleshoot electronics

As the league’s 18th team that began competing in MLS in 2011, the Timbers play their home games at Providence Park, an approximately 21,000-seat stadium in downtown Portland. The internship will provide opportunities to learn and develop writing for public/media relations, assist in overseeing PR for club’s development teams (Timbers 2, Timbers U-23s, Timbers Academy) and Portland Thorns FC of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), work with local media members and help facilitate media operations on match days.

Video Operations Internship - Spring & Summer 2015 - Sporting Kansas City (Kansas City, KS)

We are currently looking for Video Operations interns for the 2015 Spring and Summer Semesters.  Video Operations produces the game day television broadcast, in-stadium video board show, and a variety of web content.  In this program, the intern will have the opportunity to participate in all facets of production and improve his or her knowledge of control room and production equipment and software by working day-to-day with staff at the production facility. The internship will also enable the intern to push his or her level of creativity through shooting, editing projects and creating graphics.

The ideal candidate will be a confident self-starter, possess strong attention to detail and take great pride in his/her work. The internship will challenge the applicant’s ability to multitask in a busy environment. The intern will be given every opportunity to learn all aspects of production, so the intern must be focused on broadening his or her video production skillset.

The intern shall intern with Sporting Kansas City for the number of hours required to earn his/her academic credit.  Dates of the internships are negotiable.  The intern must be available for home matches throughout the duration of the internship. The intern will be asked to commit to regularly scheduled office hours during the week and occasional nights and weekends. These hours are also negotiable.  This is an unpaid internship.

REQUIREMENTS

·         At the time of the internship, have completed at least your sophomore year at a four-year accredited college institution or be enrolled in an accredited graduate program.

·         Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (based on 4.0 scale)

·         Available for home matches and other events throughout the internship session (primarily evenings and weekends)

·         Some experience shooting with broadcast-level cameras (Panasonic P2 format) a plus

·         Some experience editing with Final Cut Pro or equivalent a plus (additional experience with Photoshop and/or After Effects also a plus)

·         Passion for telling stories in sports (familiarity with soccer and Sporting Kansas City a plus)
