Chicago Fire Foundation-Community Relations Intern - (Spring/Summer 2018) - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview, IL)

Expectations:  Is it your dream to work in the sports industry? If so an internship with the Chicago Fire Soccer Club can be the first mile of your marathon!  As an Intern with the Chicago Fire Soccer Club, you will aid the club in continuing to strive to be a premier club on and off of the pitch, you will play a large role in the achievement of this goal by executing projects and by being a part of the day to day activities of the Club.  We are seeking interns that will take steps on their own to grow and hone their craft.  As an Intern you will be expected to give maximum effort every day you come to work. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in coordination of game day 50-50 raffle program
  • Coordinate scheduling game-day volunteer corps with Coordinator
  • Assist with charity section of website, FB and other social media for Foundation
  • Assist with donation requests including data collection and fulfillment
  • Assist with development and execution of organization wide volunteer opportunities and programs
  • Assist in development and execution of Foundation and Community Relations programming with  partners (Ex: City Year, LTS tournament, Practice in the Community, etc)
  • Chicago Fire Foundation special events including annual luncheon, auctions, marathon, etc.
  • Assist with administrative tasks and grant writing
  • Assist in coordination of player appearances

  • Other duties as assigned by Manager

Qualifications:

  • Previous community service experience or heart to serve others
  • Communications/marketing or related course of study

Marketing Internship (Spring/Summer 2018) - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview, IL)

DESCRIPTION:

The Chicago Fire Soccer Club is seeking an undergraduate or graduate student who is interested in gaining experience in marketing and brand strategy, matchday production, and event & entertainment marketing. Students must be available at least 20-25 hours per week. Students MUST RECEIVE ACADEMIC CREDIT to qualify for this internship. 

POSITION PURPOSE: 

The primary responsibility is to provide weekday and matchday assistance to the Marketing Department. The intern will be expected to: 

- Assist in marketing plan development and execution, including matchday 
- Operate Chicago Fire Junior Supporters Club 
- Assist in design and distribution of marketing collateral 
- Assist in planning and execution of grassroots marketing efforts, including managing lead collection, distribution of promotional items, and creating staff information sheets 
- Assist with strategic partnership fulfillment and agreements 
- Assist with TV/Radio ad management 
- Research regarding further marketing opportunities for the Chicago Fire
- Matchday operations responsibilities (*may require some heavy lifting), which includes working all weekend and weeknight games. Matchday duties may also include working on promotions, customer service, stadium set-up and teardown 
- Some responsibilities will include clerical work, such as filing, data entry, inventory, copying and correspondence

REQUIREMENTS: 

- Understanding of key marketing concepts 
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing 
- Proficiency in all Microsoft applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word 
- Goal-oriented, ambitious, honest individuals sought with strong work ethic, dedication and desire to learn and contribute

Fan Experience Internship (Spring/Summer 2018) - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview, IL)

Expectation: Chicago Fire is seeking a smart, service passionate individual who is interested in joining the Fire in the Fan Experience/Customer Service department as an intern. This department focuses on improving the overall gameday experience for our fans through building vendor relationships, tracking feedback and executing the Chicago Fire CHAMPS service and recognition program. This position will be expected to work some nights and weekends (about 20-25 hours a week), including 100% attendance for Chicago Fire home games. 

Instructions for candidates:

Graphic Designer Intern (Spring/Summer 2018) - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview/Chicago, Il)

Expectations: The Intern Designer position for the Chicago Fire Soccer Club is responsible for any and all creative undertakings by the club across a variety of media including web, print, promotional items and stadium installation/environment. The intern will service all departments with any creative or design needs, from initial concepts to final production, execution and/or distribution. The Intern Designer is responsible for maintaining the visual integrity of the club as perceived by the market, and for strengthening brand presence within that market. He or she must demonstrate the ability to supply creative solutions on a daily basis to a variety of requested projects while remaining organized and on task.

Internships are unpaid (except for $100/month transportation stipend) and available only to persons who will receive college or graduate level credit for their work. The Fire accepts a limited number of internships to ensure that interns gain valuable work experience.

Responsibilites:

  • Organize and manage multiple projects in various stages of progress
  • Formulate design concepts, presentations, templates, layouts, merchandise, installations and other collateral from initial idea to final execution
  • Create advertising campaigns that are followed across a variety of collateral
  • Develop understanding of target audience and market for specifically aimed marketing pieces
  • Present or pitch ideas, briefs, and concepts to various parties, in and out of house
  • Prioritize and filter work load coming from all departments through a design request form system
  • Design advertisements, print materials, still digital imaging and web graphics
  • Meet all advertising and print deadlines
  • Contribute to the invention and implementation of marketing/communications initiatives

Requirements

  • Applicants MUST receive college credit for the internship
  • Practice a professional attitude when working with outside sources (ie. publications, print partners, creative agencies, vendors)
  • Develop good rapport with other members of the Marketing Department
  • Maintain an approachable persona as well as organized and respectful communication with all other departments

Video Production Intern - The PrivateBank Fire Pitch - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Chicago, IL)

The PrivateBank Fire Pitch is looking for a creative, hard working, individual who is interested in joining the Chicago Fire family. The Fire Pitch is the premier soccer-first facility in Chicago.

The Fire Pitch is located on the north-side of Chicago, just two miles west of Wrigley Field. The facility features two full-sized soccer fields, a state-of-the-art fitness center, bar/restaurant, events space, and an outdoor patio. The intern will work with full-time staff members to shoot/edit videos to promote all aspects of the facility through social media. Examples here. The intern will be expected to work some nights and weekends (15-25 hours/week).

Chicago Fire Rec Soccer (CFRS) is looking for a smart, service-orientated, passionate individual who is interested in joining the Fire family. Our department organizes and coordinates adult recreational soccer leagues for coed and men's teams. The intern will be expected to work some nights and weekends (about 15-25 hours/week).

As an Intern, you will be expected to give maximum effort every day you come to work. 

Responsibilities: 

Emerging Talent Program

  • Issue invites to club and collate player acceptances for tournaments;
  • Responsible for providing updates on player registration;
  • Be the point of contact for all communication and questions from club personnel and families;
  • Be the point of contact for all hotels and other space used during the events;
  • Devise an operations plan during the events that includes all items related to travel, hotel, transportation, meals, training’s, free time and game days;
  • Collect paperwork from players and coaches and upload to the online registration system;
  • Create player passes for each team;
  • Update social media outlets and;
  • Collect player profiles and put together team profiles for college coaches.

·         Create and manage the online player registration’s by providing daily registration updates and taking a lead on all customer service related issues;

2017 Team Toyota Stadium - Game day Grounds crew - FC Dallas (Frisco, TX)

FC Dallas and Toyota stadium are looking for individuals to work on an as needed basis during the 2017 FC Dallas Soccer season.  The Game day Grounds  team will be responsible for the set-up and tear down of the field equipment  for events held at Toyota Stadium, mostly FC Dallas Home games.

Qualifications:

Position Overview: This internship will work within the FC Dallas Marketing Department and will report directly to the department head Senior Director of Marketing and Event Presentation. The Database and Research Marketing Intern will assist with data accumulation optimization, key fan and overall organizational research, as well as insights into all consumers that interact with the FC Dallas/Toyota Stadium/Brand New US Soccer Hall of Fame products. Candidates must be able to work extended hours during FC Dallas, Toyota Stadium events.  Candidates must also be willing to do general office work and be willing to assist other organization’s departments as needed.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Building survey/research platforms and analyzing data
  • Putting together and analyzing fan demographic information.
  • Assisting in database optimization, cleansing and normalization
  • Research and monitor industry trends in sports and overall marketing industries
  • Interact professionally with both clients and fans

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to receive college credit (graduate or undergraduate) for the internship.
  • MBA/graduate level candidates a plus but not required.  
  • General understanding of statistics, consumer research, and data.  SAS product suite and mapping software familiarity a plus but not required.

Position Overview: FC Dallas Medical Staff and Texas Health Resources are looking for an athletic training intern. The position will last from the beginning of the season in January and finish during the month of May when the student needs to return back to school, or when the chosen candidate’s spring semester ends. The athletic training intern will take an active role in all aspects of the athletic training program, and assist the sports medicine staff with the daily operations of the department.  The position will require a commitment to a schedule ranging from 7am-5pm Monday through Saturday and up to 30 hours per week. Schedule may vary based on team needs and schedule.

The student must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities to qualify for the internship.  The student must also be able to explain and demonstrate the he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Job Duties:

  • Assist the head and assistant ATC’s with pre training and pre game set up of training room and fields.
  • Assist with the post training and post-game cleanup. 
  • Assist the head and assistant ATC with treatments and rehab of athletes pre and post-practice. 
  • Ensure that the athletes are hydrated during training sessions. 
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and organized training room. 
  • Assist in maintaining training room medical supply inventory and Advocare product inventory. 
  • Assist with the FC Dallas Academy teams 
    • Daily hydration set-up/break down & taping
  • Assist medical staff with small tasks needed on daily basis, such as pharmacy trips, taking athletes to doctor appointments, etc. 
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal skills required to work effectively with players, coaches, and other staff members.  Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and working relationships with players and personnel at all times.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays based on team needs and event schedules.
  • All other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

The internship gives preference to juniors, seniors, and grad students in athletic training curricula. Position Overview: The FC Dallas Ticket Operations Internship was designed to give college students the opportunity to develop valuable skills and gain firsthand experience in the professional sports industry. The intern will learn all aspects of the coordination and administration of Ticket Operations, Box Office, and Game Day Operations. This internship is designed for college students who are interested in pursuing a ticket or event operations career in the sports industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with daily correspondence to FC Dallas and Toyota Stadium guests
  • Assisting in any ticketed concerts, special events, and promotions held at Toyota Stadium
  • Assisting in order processing and fulfillment of all FC Dallas and Toyota Stadium Events
  • Assisting with game and event ticket reports
  • Administrative office duties including filing, organizing, data entry and mailing
  • Assisting in planning and implementing special marketing events and promotions
  • Working closely with fan relations and sales staff to fulfill orders
  • Assisting with ticket sales activities and events
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Background in sales, marketing, business, customer service or communications is encouraged
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Publisher, Word, Etc.) is encouraged

Duties:

  • Ensure all necessary & required equipment is available for all FCD Home and Away Games for the 1st Team, Reserves and Academy sides
  • Ensure that all MLS requirements & protocols are followed for all games that FCD Teams are involved
  • Assist the Equipment managers with ordering, inventorying, preparation, & distribution of all equipment for the FCD Professional & Academy Programs, coaches & staff.
  • Assist the Equipment managers in the necessary & timely preparation for all professional team practices (Field & Equipment)
  • Assisting with the set-up of daily team practice – daily distribution of practice gear for 28 players, 5 Coaches, 4 staff members and all guest players
  • Perform necessary & required Laundry duties pertinent to the Professional Program, Academy Teams, Coaches, & Staff needs (Gear, Uniforms, towels etc.)
  • Receiving, cataloging and distribution of all new incoming team gear. Preserving and cataloging all archived team gear.
  • All other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Must be an active college student
  • Must receive college credit for internship
  • Must have a valid Driver License and clean driving record and access to your own vehicle.
  • Must be flexible to work weekdays, weekends, and Holidays
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferred but not required

Position Overview: FC Dallas is seeking a Stadium Operations/Complex Operations intern who will work directly with the Stadium Operations and Complex Management Departments to assist with scheduling, organizing and coordinating of all events at Toyota Stadium and Soccer Center, with an emphasis on event day logistics. Event day logistics include locker room set-up, table and chair set-up, and pre-game operations. This internship is designed to give students an overall view of the daily operations of a Major League Soccer Stadium and Complex that is in use over 300 days a year.

Job Duties include:

  • Assist the Stadium Operations Department with game day operations to include set up, tear down and event management.
  • Assist with coordination among other departments to ensure that all day of game set-up, giveaways, signage, etc. are met effectively.
  • Help coordinate, plan, and oversee soccer events, concerts, tournaments & other special events at Toyota Stadium and Soccer Center.
  • Facilitate any visiting team’s needs; oversee all specific requests, working with various departments to facilitate those requests.

Gameday Operations Internship (2018) - Orlando City Soccer Club (Orlando, FL)

Background: After winning three USL-Pro regular season championships and two postseason titles over a four-year span, Orlando City SC quickly set the standard for professional soccer clubs both on and off the field and was awarded the 21st Major League Soccer (MLS) franchise on Nov. 19, 2013. Position Summary: Orlando City SC is seeking hardworking, positive and passionate individuals who wish to supplement their classroom instruction with practical experience facilitating key operational tasks associated with the production of professional soccer games. Interns will have a direct role in executing match operations such as presentation, field setup, locker room requests, etc. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to oversee back of house operations including setup/teardown, locker rooms, stadium management, etc. Interns will work under close supervision of the VP of Gameday Operations and Operations Coordinators.YOU MUST BE ABLE TO RECEIVE ACADEMIC CREDIT FOR THIS INTERNSHIP.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with gameday/event management and set-up/breakdown for all MLS, NWSL, USL and Pro-Academy home games as assigned.
  • Arrange visiting team’s requests, working with the venue and other departments to fulfill the team’s needs.
  • Facilitate and assist with match operations, match presentation, teams and officials, etc.
  • Provide support to other events organized by the club at the venue on game days (soccer tournament, clinics, etc.).
  • Maintain all equipment and supplies in a proper working order.
  • Assist with in-office tasks when needed.
  • Execute other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • At the time of the internship, have completed at least your sophomore year at a four-year accredited college institution or be enrolled in an accredited graduate program.
  • Must provide proof that you will receive academic credit through the internship toward the completion of your degree.
  • Available for home matches and other events throughout the internship session (including evenings and weekends).
  • Ability to maintain highest level of professionalism and confidentiality within a pro-team environment is required.
  • Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented and have a strong sense of accountability.
  • Candidates should be very comfortable performing physical labor duties on a daily basis.
  • Interest and experience in competitive sports or event operations is preferred.
  • Must be able to lift 40+ pounds and stand for 4+ hours at a time.

As the Event Operations Intern, you will be responsible for executing Philadelphia Union events including but not limited to:  Grassroots Marketing events, Corporate Sponsorship events, soccer schools and all Union home games.  The ideal candidate is a confident, hard-working, and innovative college or graduate- level student who is interested in an obtaining practical experience in the world of professional sports.  Through this internship, interns will be introduced to the behind-the-scenes operations of Talen Energy Stadium prior to and during Philadelphia Union home games and other events, such as The U on Tour.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

As the Equipment Intern, you will be responsible for assisting the Equipment Managers with day-to-day operations, front office operations, and provide game & event support.

The Sporting Kansas City Finance and Accounting Intern will hold a temporary position within the company, with an emphasis on gaining hands-on experience in sports and finance and accounting.  This individual will assist the Finance and Accounting Department in recording revenue and paying invoices.

  • Process mail daily, including scanning and routing AP invoices to department leaders.
