Spring 2015 Marketing Intern - BBVA Compass Stadium (Dynamo Stadium) (Houston, TX)

The BBVA Compass Stadium Marketing, PR & Booking department is seeking intern candidates. This exciting position offers the selected individuals the opportunity to experience communications and operations aspects of a professional sports and entertainment organization. Candidates will gain valuable experience in the fast-paced world of sports and entertainment through the execution of a variety of public and private events.

Qualified applicants should be pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations or sport management. Previous experience with a professional sports team, agency or event marketing is a plus. The ability to work nights/weekends, game days and holidays is imperative.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Assist with the development & execution of marketing, PR & social media campaigns for all events.
• Assist with on-site event & media management for event/game days.
• Develop and maintain sports & entertainment media databases.
• Manage & grow social media program and networks.
• Research & organize sales/booking opportunities.
• Aid in the development and management of new creative outreach opportunities.
• Aid in community outreach development & grassroots marketing efforts.
• Coordinate & manage social media & website tracking reports.
• Assist other stadium departments as needed.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & ABILITY:

Internship - Information Technology - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview, IL)

The Information Technology Intern will report directly to the Information Technology Manager.  This position is responsible for assisting with the daily upkeep of the Chicago Fire/Toyota Park data and telecom networks with a specific focus on providing support to the venue on event days.  The Information Technology Intern will also be charged with setting up and maintaining computer hardware and software.  Listed below are the responsibilities and qualifications expected of this position.

 Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in setting up telecom and data connections for Chicago Fire

  • Assist with troubleshooting server, network, desktop hardware, printer and software issues

  • Assist with event execution; responsibilities include but are not limited to:

      • Pre-event set-up (technology needs, broadcast  and internet connections, etc.)

      • Assist with technology needs and issues during the event

      • Audio/Visual assistance

      • Post-event tear-down and cleanup

EXPECTATIONS:
A fantastic opportunity for a Motion Graphics Intern to assist the Chicago Fire Soccer Club Creative Services department.

The role entails in the assistance of creation of in-game graphics and other animations. Candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to juggle several projects at any one time; capable of working on tight deadlines and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Internships are unpaid (except for $100/month transportation stipend) and available only to persons who will receive college or graduate level credit for their work. The Fire accepts a limited number of internships to ensure that interns gain valuable work experience.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Proficient knowledge of After Effects, Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign(a plus)
• Strong skills in design, typography and 2D motion design
• Able to integrate creative video and audio for storytelling purposes

2015 FC Dallas Spring Internship Opportunities - Operations and related areas - FC Dallas (Frisco, TX)

FC Dallas and Toyota Stadium have created a unique hands on experience for students looking to gain Operational experience in the Sports, Venue and Entertainment industry. Many different operations opportunities are available across our organization.
We are looking for bright, passionate, hard-working students to be a part of our team through our internship program.
Toyota Stadium and Soccer Center is a first-of-its-kind facility located in Frisco, Texas. The complex features two major components: a 20,000 seat, state-of-the-art pro stadium immediately adjacent to a sports park with 17 championship-quality sports/soccer fields. Toyota Soccer Center is in use over 300 days per year, showcasing a wide variety of local, regional, national and international events.


All internships for FC Dallas and Toyota Stadium & Soccer Center are unpaid internships, and must be used to receive college credit from an accredited university. The internships allow the individual to gain valuable experience with a professional organization for their future in the sports, entertainment and marketing industry. Hours can be flexible to accommodate with your school or work schedule. Some nights and weekends will be required.

Grounds: The intern will be responsible for assisting the FC Dallas Grounds department in all aspects of operation and facility management of Toyota Stadium, 17 field Soccer Complex, and surrounding landscape. This position will offer a great opportunity to work with a professional sports organization with a multi-use facility. Interns will gain valuable hands on experience in game operations, field maintenance cultural practices, and landscape techniques. Qualified applicants must be pursuing a degree in a related field of study. Availability to work nights/weekends and game days are required.

Job Duties:

  • Work directly with Grounds department to ensure all game preparations, field maintenance, and landscaping is completed as scheduled.
  • Assist with a variety of field setups and breakdowns (benches, goals, bleachers, banners, a-frames, sideline tarps, football uprights, turf blankets, concert floor, etc.)
  • Assist with mowing, edging, weed-eating, tree trimming, plant beds, field layout and painting, field set up, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualification:

  • Candidates must receive college credit and provide proof of school enrollment and internship credit to participate.
  • Must be proactive, reliable, and punctual.
  • Must be able to stand and work for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to endure heat/cold for long periods of time.
  • Ability to bend, stoop and reach in all directions.

Hospitality Management Internship: The Food and Beverage Company, Legends Hospitality, LLC, for FC Dallas and Toyota Stadium are looking for a dependable, well organized and trustworthy intern. The Hospitality intern will play a supportive role to the F&B department for the soccer club and stadium, and will receive exposure to all facets of the Hospitality Industry in a Stadium setting. All internships with FC Dallas and Toyota Stadium are unpaid and must be used to receive college credit.

Job Duties Include:

  • Assist the General Manager of Legends at Toyota Stadium and his team in the planning, organizing, logistics and operations of all events hosted at FC Dallas Stadium.
  • Administrative duties including but not limited to filing, scanning documents, special projects and data entry.
  • Assisting in the coordination Non Profit volunteer concessions activities and scheduling.
  • Greeting and assisting Employment/Food and Beverage office visitors, clients, vendors and applicants.
  • Champion our service excellence philosophy throughout all operations.
  • Assist in enforcement of all Health and Safety Standards.
  • Help to ensures compliance with all local and state liquor laws and Legends Alcohol Service Standards.

Human Resources Internship: The HR department for FC Dallas and Toyota Stadium is looking for a dependable, well organized and trustworthy intern. The HR intern will play a supportive role to the Human Resources department for the soccer club and stadium, and will receive exposure to all facets of the Human Relations Department in a Generalist Capacity. All internships with FC Dallas and Toyota Stadium are unpaid and must be used to receive college credit.

Job Duties to include:

  • Assisting with and coordinates recruitment efforts, which may include attending job fairs
  • Administrative duties including but not limited to filing, scanning documents, special projects and data entry
  • Conducting pre-screening interviews for applicants, maintain applicant log
  • Source on-line applications
  • Set up orientation for new interns
  • Coordinating and assisting with team building and employee activities
  • Assisting with college internship program, maintain current postings at universities
  • Greeting and assisting Employment office visitors, clients and applicants

Stadium and Complex Operations Internship: FC Dallas is seeking a Stadium Operations/Complex Operations intern who will work directly with the Stadium Operations and Complex Management Departments to assist with scheduling, organizing and coordinating of all events at Toyota Stadium and Soccer Center, with an emphasis on event day logistics. Event day logistics include locker room set-up, table and chair set-up, and pre-game operations. This internship is designed to give students an overall view of the daily operations of a Major League Soccer Stadium and Complex that is in use over 300 days a year.

Job Duties include:

  • Assist the Stadium Operations Department with game day operations to include set up, tear down and event management.
  • Assist with coordination among other departments to ensure that all day of game set-up, giveaways, signage, etc. are met effectively.
  • Help coordinate, plan, and oversee soccer events, concerts, tournaments & other special events at Toyota Stadium and Soccer Center.
  • Facilitate any visiting team’s needs; oversee all specific requests, working with various departments to facilitate those requests.
  • Facilitate requests made by front office staff, vendors, League officials and others as needed.
  • Developing timelines, itineraries, and checklists prior to events.
  • Assist with compliance in accreditation and parking for Staff and Volunteers.
  • Coordinate pre-game events on the field in accordance with MLS rules and regulations.
  • Resolve customer service issues or work with supervisors if unable to do so alone.

Team Administration: The purpose of this internship is to assist the Director of Soccer Operations & Equipment Managers with the daily duties involved with the Major League Soccer team FC Dallas and their U-18 & U-16 Academy Teams.

Duties:

  • Perform necessary & required Laundry duties pertinent to the Professional Program, Academy Teams, Coaches, & Staff needs (Gear, Uniforms, towels etc.)
  • Ensure all necessary & required equipment is available for all FCD Home and Away Games for the 1st Team, Reserves and Academy sides
  • Ensure that all MLS requirements & protocols are followed for all games that FCD Teams are involved
  • Assist the Equipment managers with ordering, inventorying, preparation, & distribution of all equipment for the FCD Professional & Academy Programs, coaches & staff.
  • Assist the Equipment managers in the necessary & timely preparation for all professional team practices (Field & Equipment)
  • Assisting with the set-up of daily team practice – daily distribution of practice gear for 28 players, 5 Coaches, 4 staff members and all guest players
  • Assisting with the logistics of team travel – Visa requests, team itineraries, per diem request and distribution, in-city transportation, follow-up communication with travel agents and hotels.
  • Receiving, cataloging and distribution of all new incoming team gear. Preserving and cataloging all archived team gear.

North Texas Soccer Tour: FC Dallas and North Texas State Soccer Association in conjunction with a few key sponsors have developed a mobile marketing tour that travels throughout DFW and north Texas area. We are currently looking for a students interested in participating in the execution of the tour. The tour visits approximately 50-60 events per calendar year which include soccer tournaments, league play, and various sponsor events. The tour consists of a company SUV that pulls a 24-foot trailer, a 10x10 tent and interactive inflatables. The North Texas Soccer Tour Internship will serve as an integral part of the FC Dallas strategic marketing efforts.

Members of this team will act as ambassadors for FC Dallas interacting with fans during scheduled 17 home games and at various special events including (but not limited to); player appearances, community events, media functions, nightlife appearances, and team driven events in the DFW area.


Team members will be expected to have a dynamic personality with the ability to engage the target audience in lively conversation and be able to sell FC Dallas tickets and merchandise. Summary


This fully bilingual (English and Spanish) position, in sports public relations, is for an individual seeking a hands-on experience in sports public relations and communications. Major League Soccer (MLS) and Soccer United Marketing (SUM) seek strong candidates to continue to publicize the League and the sport across domestic and international media as well as executing media operations and publicity for major international soccer events. 

The position is based in New York, NY and may require some travel.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist with proactive pitching and generating media coverage of MLS and SUM among U.S. Hispanic and international media, including:

    • Compilation of daily MLS and SUM online media coverage

    • Production of press releases, original content and material for MLS and SUM

  • Assist with fielding media requests from U.S.-based and international media outlets, as well as internal requests

  • Assist social media functions related to MLS' Spanish-language platforms, including Twitter

  • Assist with upkeep of MLS and SUM media distribution lists

  • Research for a variety of departmental projects

  • Compile and distribute media coverage clip packets for the Board of Governors and executive staff

Other Roles and Functions:

  • Participate in Communications department meetings and events

  • Media operations at special eventsAssist Coordinator and Senior Director of International Communications to support all objectives of the department

Required skills:

  • Fully bilingual (English and Spanish – reading, writing and speaking)

Reporting to the Social Media Manager, the Social Media intern will work to achieve the league’s online and social media goals. The focus of this internship is to manage and optimize the league’s social media sites and aide in the production of a comprehensive social media campaign.

Responsibilities


• Manage, monitor and optimize MLS activities on all social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Foursquare, MySpace, etc.
• Write, publish and update content on MLSsoccer.com including articles, blogs, videos and more.
• Coordinate user-generated content collected via social media promotions and sweepstakes.

Orlando City SC seeks bright, industrious and motivated college or graduate-level students interested in an opportunity to earn course credits toward the completion of their degree, with a focus towards the goal of specializing in operations for a professional soccer club.

Through this internship, you will be introduced to the behind-the-scenes operations of the club. Interns will work closely with the Senior Director of Operations and Operations Manager on specific tasks that will include operational support with the following (but not limited to): MLS/U23/Pro Academy Game Days, MLS/U23 Preseason, MLS/U23 Open Tryouts, International Club Hosting, Special Events, Training Grounds, Tournaments, Youth Camp and our Youth Club. In short, this internship will provide you with a strong educational base you can use to build your career.

Foundation / Community Relations Intern:

Interns are responsible for assisting in coordinating community outreach efforts and projects for the Philadelphia Union and the Philadelphia Union Foundation. Assistance with Foundation fundraising and administration is also required. Specific responsibilities of this position include handling donation requests and contributions reporting, preparing community related presentations, assisting in planning fundraising and community engagement events, and promoting the efforts of the Philadelphia Union Foundation, which works to assist the continued development of Chester City United, as well as the Soccer for Success program with the US Soccer Foundation.

Union Academy Operations Intern:

• Responsibilities include operational planning, set-up, and management for Philadelphia Union Youth Academy Events
• Coordinate operational staffing needs and serve as liaison to all game day operational entities including, but not limited to visiting team, officials, police, EMS, ticket takers, ushers, guest services, grounds, housekeeping, facilities management, emergency management, technical services, information technology, disability management, and parking and traffic

Soccer Development Intern:

Interns will be responsible for assisting with youth developmental programs. They will report directly to the Graphic Designer.

 Primary Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Graphic Designer to produce necessary assets for Season Tickets

• Prep, structure and deliver final files to print vendors

• Work within the brand standards to deliver effective visual communications material

Basic Qualifications?

• Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Cloud, especially; Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
