Position Summary

The Atlanta United communications intern will be joining a two-person staff and will be heavily involved in the day-to-day operations of a professional sports communications department. Typical duties will involve compiling club press clippings, assist in writing of official club communication and helping prepare upcoming 2017 media guides.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Compile press clips:  conduct regular media monitoring for coverage of Atlanta United and log press clips electronically of United stories from local and national publications.
  • Media relations:  research, write and edit media communications (as necessary), including upcoming 2017 media guides.
  • Media services:  provide onsite support at club events for interviews requests.
  • Database Maintenance:  maintain database of media contacts for press outreach and knowledge of media contact research engines.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in (or currently studying) Journalism, Public Relations or related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with prior PR/communications experience, specifically PR tactics and general strategies.
  • Working knowledge of MLS and U.S. Soccer.
  • Strong written and oral communication.

Required Skills

  • Must be able to handle pressure and take initiative.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills required.

At the conclusion of this internship, interns will have a deeper understanding of video production for a sports club, composing shots, using Photoshop and Illustrator with After Effects, and many more useful skills.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist shooting, lighting, and editing video pieces for Atlanta United’s digital channels including behind the scenes content.

  • Assist Digital Video Producer and Manager of Digital and Social Media with various social projects and help with day-to-day data management.

  • Assist set up of press conferences and interviews with Atlanta United players and staff

  • Produce motion graphics, lower thirds, etc. to ensure high quality content

  • Monitor video analytics on all digital channels to assess what content works best on a specific channel and resonates with Atlanta United fans       

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or working towards Bachelor’s Degree

 

Required Skills

The Chicago Fire Soccer Club is seeking a motivated individual to assist with daily media relations duties and game day media operations. This position is for an individual with exceptional written and verbal communications skills. The individual should possess strong time management skills and the ability to multitask.

Primary Responsibilities

Graphic Designer Intern - Fall 2016 - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview/Chicago, Il)

Expectations: The Intern Designer position for the Chicago Fire Soccer Club is responsible for any and all creative undertakings by the club across a variety of media including web, print, promotional items and stadium installation/environment. The intern will service all departments with any creative or design needs, from initial concepts to final production, execution and/or distribution. The Intern Designer is responsible for maintaining the visual integrity of the club as perceived by the market, and for strengthening brand presence within that market. He or she must demonstrate the ability to supply creative solutions on a daily basis to a variety of requested projects while remaining organized and on task. Internships are unpaid (except for $100/month transportation stipend) and available only to persons who will receive college or graduate level credit for their work. The Fire accepts a limited number of internships to ensure that interns gain valuable work experience.

Responsibilites:

  • Organize and manage multiple projects in various stages of progress
  • Formulate design concepts, presentations, templates, layouts, merchandise, installations and other collateral from initial idea to final execution
  • Create advertising campaigns that are followed across a variety of collateral
  • Develop understanding of target audience and market for specifically aimed marketing pieces
  • Present or pitch ideas, briefs, and concepts to various parties, in and out of house

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in coordination of game day 50-50 raffle program
  • Coordinate scheduling game-day volunteer corps with Coordinator
  • Assist with charity section of website, FB and other social media for Foundation
  • Assist with donation requests including data collection and fulfillment
  • Assist with development and executition of organization wide volunteer opportunities and programs
  • Assist in development and execution of Foundation and Community Relations programming with  partners (Ex: City Year, LTS tournament, Practice in the Community, etc)

Columbus Crew SC (Soccer Club) is the first club in Major League Soccer and in 2015, Crew SC was crowned MLS Eastern Conference Champions in the organization’s 20th season. Owned and operated by Precourt Sports Ventures (PSV), it won its first MLS Cup championship in 2008 and also won the 2002 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup as well as MLS Supporters’ Shield titles in 2004, 2008 and 2009. The 2016 campaign is the Black & Gold’s 18th season at historic MAPFRE Stadium -- the first soccer-specific stadium in the United States – where the club set single-season sellout records and hosted the 2015 MLS Cup. D.C. United - Spring Operations Internship - D.C. United (Washington, DC)

Description

 
D.C. United Operations interns will report directly to the Operations Coordinator.  They will also function in a support role to the Director and Manager. Specific tasks will include various event management duties, set-up/breakdown of all D.C. United home matches, office maintenance, and other event/facility operations needs.


Primary Responsibilities:

Duties will include assisting with event management, set-up/breakdown for all D.C. United home matches, office maintenance projects, and various other operations responsibilities. Other responsibilities will include assisting in the maintenance of company vehicles, facility repair requests, equipment storage and inventory, as well as supporting the management of the D.C. United volunteer team consisting of 50 volunteers.  Interns will also assist with accreditation of matchday personnel, occasional first team operational needs, and management of other event staff.

Supportive functions include the planning, logistics, and execution of employee training programs. Interns can also expect to complete various physical labor tasks related to overall daily operation of the club, including event setup/breakdown and other logistical needs related to D.C. United events at RFK Stadium, as well as other nearby venues.


Requirements:

  • Candidates must be available to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Applicants available to commit full time are preferred, but part time candidates will also be considered.
  • Candidates should be very comfortable performing physical labor duties on a daily basis.
  • Previous experience in event management is ideal and a strong leadership background is a plus.
  • Candidates should be comfortable dealing with customers, possess a strong professional attitude, and be extremely detail oriented. Prior experience with customer service and people/event management is a plus.

Youth Soccer Coach & Operations Intern - D.C. United (Washington, DC)

JOB TITLE: Youth Soccer Coach & Operations Intern

DEPARTMENT: Youth Development

REPORTS TO: Academy Staff/ Manager, Camps & Training Programs
 

SUMMARY:  The 2016 Fall & Winter Coaching & Operations Internship Program is an opportunity for an individual excited about youth soccer development, coaching and operations to immerse themselves into D.C. United’s Youth Academy teams as well as training programs and Winter Camps at RFK Stadium. This program, which will run through the Fall and into the Winter (see dates below), will allow the individual to work closely with the Academy staff, specifically the Manager of Camps & Training Programs. The primary role will be assisting the Academy staff on the field with the training programs, observing and potentially assisting in Academy sessions, preparing equipment as well as additional duties listed below. The individual will also be responsible for some administrative work related to the training programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coaching
• Help lead coach as well as providing coaching and positive feedback to youth players
• Understand the topic for each session and be prepared to provide coaching based on coaching points

Operations/Administrative
• Assist lead coach in setting up and putting away equipment after each session
• Help with registration for new programs
• Help organize session (cones, balls, pinnies, etc.) for lead coaches
• Assist with promotion of training programs and Winter camps


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Youth coaching experience
• High School or College playing experience preferred but not required
• Minimum “E” Coaching License or equivalent preferred but not required
• Experience in childcare preferred but not required
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred

Digital Video Animation Production: D.C. United are looking for a video animation intern to assist the Digital Media and Communications department. The video animation intern will report to the Video Producers and assist with the day to day objectives of the Digital Media and Communications Department.

Job Duties:

  • Assist in animation for video content
  • Use Adobe After Effects and Photoshop, and various types of audio and digital video equipment to edit videos
  • Create videos for TV broadcast, web and social media
  • Assist video producers and social media producers in creation of content
  • Other duties and projects as assigned
     

Qualifications:

  • Applicants should be working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree in computer animation (or comparable training)
  • Ability to make creative and energetic hype videos
  • Proficiency using Adobe After Effects for motion design, tracking, compositing, and encoding. 
  • Proficiency using Adobe Premiere for video editing. 
  • Strong awareness of relevant trends in web video and social media content

Background: After winning three USL-Pro Championships over a four-year span, Orlando City SC quickly set the standard for professional soccer clubs, both on and off the field, and was awarded the 21st franchise in Major League Soccer (MLS) on Nov. 19, 2013. The Club began MLS play in Central Florida in 2015, setting league attendance records for an expansion side in its first season and has welcomed over 60,000 fans for consecutive season-opening matches in 2015 and 2016. Position Summary: Orlando City SC is looking for motivated Group Sales Intern to assist our Group Ticket Sales Department with day-to-day operations. This person will receive instruction under the Sr. Director of Sales and Group Sales Manager and will have the opportunity to supplement classroom instruction and gain practical experience in group sales for a professional sports team. Position Summary: The Performance Nutrition Intern will work closely with the Team Performance Nutritionist/Dietitian in performing a variety of tasks supporting the MLS, NWSL, USL and Pro Academy teams, as assigned. This person will provide dedicated support on a day-to-day basis and work as an integral part of the nutrition program, from fueling and hydration for performance on training days and game days.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing, purchasing, and stocking food/supplies and supplements for the training table/kitchen, locker room, and game day.
  • Assist with breakfast and lunch meals (prep, serve, clean up and breakdown).
  • Monitor Training Table for quality control and menu adherence.
  • Assist with individual daily nutrition plans; Pre, during and post-workout nutrition prescriptions determined by Team Performance Nutritionist.
  • Maintain equipment, including smoothie machines, refrigerators and microwaves, etc.
  • Work as an interdisciplinary member of the nutrition staff as well as with the sports medicine team, strength and conditioning staff, sport coaches, and team administrators.
  • Assist with hydration and body composition testing.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Team Performance Nutritionist.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants should be working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree with an emphasis in a health related field: Nutrition, Exercise Science, Human Performance, Wellness, etc. Candidates receiving credit for participating in our internship program are strongly preferred.

Position Summary: Orlando City SC is seeking hardworking, positive and passionate individuals who wish to supplement their classroom instruction with practical experience facilitating key operational tasks associated with the production of professional soccer games. Interns will have a direct role in executing match operations such as presentation, field setup, locker room requests, etc. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to oversee back of house operations including setup/teardown, locker rooms, stadium management, etc. Interns will work under close supervision of the VP of Gameday Operations and Operations Coordinators.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with gameday/event management and set-up/breakdown for all MLS, NWSL, USL and Pro-Academy home games as assigned.
  • Arrange visiting team’s requests, working with the venue and other departments to fulfill the team’s needs.
  • Facilitate and assist with match operations, match presentation, teams and officials, etc.
  • Provide support to other events organized by the club at the venue on game days (soccer tournament, clinics, etc.).
  • Maintain all equipment and supplies in a proper working order.
  • Assist with in-office tasks when needed.

Qualifications:

  • At the time of the internship, have completed at least your sophomore year at a four-year accredited college institution or be enrolled in an accredited graduate program.

Youth Soccer Intern - Spring 2017 - Sporting Kansas City (Kansas City, MO)

Sporting Kansas City is looking for confident, hard-working, and innovative college or graduate- level students who are interested in an opportunity to earn course credits toward the completion of their degree, while obtaining practical experience in the world of professional sports. We have redesigned our internship program to provide valued learning and training opportunities that can be applied throughout the sports industry, hands-on experience, and the chance to be immersed in the culture and brand of Sporting Kansas City.

We are currently looking for candidates interested in an internship with our youth soccer program. The intern will be exposed to the various elements associated with Sporting Kansas City’s youth academy program, athletic partnership program and other youth soccer initiatives, such as soccer clinics and camps. The intern will also be introduced to the behind-the-scenes operations of Sporting Kansas City home games.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the youth development team by gathering research for potential member organizations in the Sporting Club Network
  • Assist with partner activation and fulfillment on game day and at events
  • Hold coaching and/or administrative roles at SKC’s youth-driven events, including, but not limited to, camps and clinics
  • Assist in youth development department’s communications, online presence, & digital media (i.e. social media, event recaps, & blog writing)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Learn how professional sports venues operate by collaborating with the Operations Team at Children’s Mercy Park with every hosted event, experiencing as many aspects of operations as possible.
  • Assist in the setup and execution of corporate meetings, weddings, holiday parties, special sporting events (i.e.; college football, U.S. Soccer, rugby, soccer clinics, etc.), large and small scale concerts, or any other applicable event.
  • Learn and participate in the organizational philosophy of a Pristine Stadium for all events.
  • Assist in the setup and execution of special, non-stadium events (not at Children’s Mercy Park), such as video shoots, Swope Park Rangers games, corporate meetings at the Lowe & Campbell building, events at the training facility, etc.
