Spring 2015 Stadium Operations Intern - BBVA Compass Stadium (Dynamo Stadium) (Houston, TX)

This position is under the supervision of the Assistant Operations Manager of BBVA Compass Stadium. It assists with day to day stadium operations and conversions.

Essential Functions:
• Assist with day to day operations, set ups, and conversions
• Report irregularities, discrepancies, damages or loss of property or any other safety concerns to Operations Manager
• Assist the Event Services department with the event preparation and execution
• Assist in keeping inventory of building tools, machinery, cleaning supplies, and building equipment
• Assist in maintaining security and services of patrons and employees during all stadium events
• Use of a dolly and pallet jack as necessary
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
• Must be able to work irregular hours and weekends if needed
• Attend all home games depending on school availability
• Knowledge of facility management and or event operations preferred
• Knowledge of safety practices and all applicable safety standards for public facilities preferred
• Knowledge of current First Aid and safety procedures preferred
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, building tenants, and the public

Spring 2015 Marketing Intern - BBVA Compass Stadium (Dynamo Stadium) (Houston, TX)

The BBVA Compass Stadium Marketing, PR & Booking department is seeking intern candidates. This exciting position offers the selected individuals the opportunity to experience communications and operations aspects of a professional sports and entertainment organization. Candidates will gain valuable experience in the fast-paced world of sports and entertainment through the execution of a variety of public and private events.

Qualified applicants should be pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations or sport management. Previous experience with a professional sports team, agency or event marketing is a plus. The ability to work nights/weekends, game days and holidays is imperative.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Assist with the development & execution of marketing, PR & social media campaigns for all events.
• Assist with on-site event & media management for event/game days.
• Develop and maintain sports & entertainment media databases.
• Manage & grow social media program and networks.
• Research & organize sales/booking opportunities.
• Aid in the development and management of new creative outreach opportunities.
• Aid in community outreach development & grassroots marketing efforts.
• Coordinate & manage social media & website tracking reports.
• Assist other stadium departments as needed.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & ABILITY:

Graphic Designer Intern

Reports To:
Senior Manager of Creative Services

EXPECTATIONS:
The Intern Designer position for the Chicago Fire Soccer Club is responsible for any and all creative undertakings by the club across a variety of media including web, print, promotional items and stadium installation/environment. The intern will service all departments with any creative or design needs, from initial concepts to final production, execution and/or distribution. The Intern Designer is responsible for maintaining the visual integrity of the club as perceived by the market, and for strengthening brand presence within that market. He or she must demonstrate the ability to supply creative solutions on a daily basis to a variety of requested projects while remaining organized and on task. Internships are unpaid (except for $100/month transportation stipend) and available only to persons who will receive college or graduate level credit for their work. The Fire accepts a limited number of internships to ensure that interns gain valuable work experience.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design
• Organize and manage multiple projects in various stages of progress
• Formulate design concepts, presentations, templates, layouts, merchandise, installations and other collateral from initial idea to final execution
• Create advertising campaigns that are followed across a variety of collateral
• Develop understanding of target audience and market for specifically aimed marketing pieces
• Present or pitch ideas, briefs, and concepts to various parties, in and out of house
• Prioritize and filter work load coming from all departments through a design request form system
• Design advertisements, print materials, still digital imaging and web graphics
• Meet all advertising and print deadlines
• Contribute to the invention and implementation of marketing/communications initiatives

The Chicago Fire Soccer Club is seeking a motivated individual to assist with daily media relations duties and game day media operations. This position is for an individual with exceptional written and verbal communications skills. The individual should possess strong time management skills and the ability to multitask.

Applicants should have a strong understanding of the Chicago Fire and Major League Soccer. 

This is an unpaid internship and is for college credit only. Proof that you are receiving credit is required. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Compilation of daily Fire coverage
  • Assist in managing Social Media results
  • Management of Fire media distribution lists
  • Research for and write press releases and other Communications projects
  • Produce Fire related content for press releases and website
  • Participate in Communications department meetings and events
  • Assisting in all aspects of press box operations on game days including press box setup, managing Media Will Call, transcribing quotes and additional duties.

This internship has frequent interaction with Crew SC’s management and players, along with team staff from other MLS clubs. Professionalism and attention to detail are critical attributes for this opportunity.

Internships are available for students actively pursuing education or recently graduates and academic credit may be available. The internship requires participation in most Crew SC home matches and Crew Stadium events. Columbus Crew SC is looking for outgoing and engaging college students to serve as Match Operations Interns for the 2015 MLS season. This internship provides a variety of sports-marketing related learning experiences, specifically in event production, fan development and promotions.

Match Operations Interns report to the Grassroots Marketing Manager and academic credit may be available.

Opportunties & Responsibilities

·         Execute matchday operations including coordinating with on-site vendors, hanging banners, setting up tents, tables and sound systems and running fan engagement stations

·         Assist in executing in-match experiences, halftime contests and pre-match activations

·         Provide a fun, entertaining and positive experience by interacting and angaging with Crew Stadium guests

·         Promoting Crew SC by creating a positive and exciting atmosphere while interacting with guests, sponsors and fans

·         Assist guests with various matchday elements including seat location and in-match experience

Columbus Crew SC is seeking a Community Relations Intern to support Crew SC’s Community Relations Department. The internship offers the opportunity to learn and develop skills in donation requests, organization wide volunteer programs, player appearances and Columbus Crew SC Foundation events.

The Community Relations Internship requires 25-30 hours per week and has flexible hours to accommodate an academic schedule. Candidates must be a recent graduate or actively pursuing education in Communications, Marketing or related field of study. The internship offers a stipend and can also be for academic credit.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

·         Assist in coordination of  matchday 50/50 raffle program

·         Coordinate various  matchday elements including Hometown Hero, American Flag Groups and Honor Guard among others

·         Assist with Community and Foundation websites

·         Assist with donation requests including data collection and fulfillment

·         Assist in development and execution of Columbus Crew SC Foundation and Community Relations programming and special events

·         Assist with the scheduling of the Columbus Crew SC mascot

The video intern will be responsible for assisting with the planning of all elements as it relates to video production. Responsibilities of the production intern will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Responsible for shooting, editing, and creating original content to be displayed on website, in-stadium, and weekly magazine     show
• Design and creation of audio/video content and graphics for in-stadium video board and website.
• Assist in maintaining all video production equipment and control room needs
• Shoot and edit weekly press conferences and player interviews
• Logging and archiving footage.

Paid Seasonal Internship - Equipment Department - Portland Timbers (Portland, OR)

Kick off your sports career with the Portland Timbers.
The PORTLAND TIMBERS have two internship opportunities in the Equipment Department. As an intern with the Portland Timbers you will have the distinct opportunity to be part of our 2015 MLS Season. Internships are open to current college students or recent college graduates.

Selection for an internship will be made based on applicable skills, experience and area(s) of education. Be sure to clearly demonstrate your skills, experience and area(s) of interest in your application. Start date is negotiable – but ideally looking for someone who can start immediately. Duration of internship will be based on performance and/or business needs. There is also some potential for minimal travel with the team.

Equipment Department Interns:
Previous soccer playing or equipment management experience desired, able to work weekends and irregular hours. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting in daily operation of equipment room, inventory management, issuing and fitting apparel and equipment, laundry operations, assisting in daily training sessions, and game day operations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Flexible work hours including nights and weekends (may be required to travel)
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, pay close attention to details & possess strong organizational skills

Video Operations Intern - Summer 2015 - Sporting Kansas City (Kansas City, KS)

Sporting Kansas City is looking for confident, hard-working, and innovative college or graduate- level students who are interested in an opportunity to earn course credits toward the completion of their degree, while obtaining practical experience in the world of professional sports. We have redesigned our internship program to provide valued learning opportunities, hands-on experience, and the chance to have a direct impact on professional soccer here in Kansas City.

We are currently looking for a Video Operations intern for the summer of 2015. Video Operations produces the game day television broadcast, in-stadium video board show, and a variety of web content.  In this program, the intern will have the opportunity to participate in all facets of production and improve his or her knowledge of control room and production equipment and software by working day-to-day with staff at the production facility. The internship will also enable the intern to push his or her level of creativity through shooting, editing projects and creating graphics.

The ideal candidate will be a confident self-starter, possess strong attention to detail and take great pride in his/her work. The internship will challenge the applicant’s ability to multitask in a busy environment. The intern will be given every opportunity to learn all aspects of production, so the intern must be focused on broadening his or her video production skillset.

The intern will intern with Sporting Kansas City for the number of hours required to earn his/her academic credit.  The internship will begin at the conclusion of the 2015 spring semester and conclude before the start of the 2015 fall semester.  Exact dates of the internship are negotiable.  The intern must be available for home matches throughout the duration of the internship. The intern will be asked to commit to regularly scheduled office hours during the week and occasional nights and weekends. These hours are also negotiable.

REQUIREMENTS

·         At the time of the internship, have completed at least your sophomore year at a four-year accredited college institution or be enrolled in an accredited graduate program.

·         Available for home matches and other events throughout the internship session (primarily evenings and weekends)

·         Some experience shooting with broadcast-level cameras (Panasonic P2 format) a plus

·         Some experience editing with Final Cut Pro or equivalent a plus (additional experience with Photoshop and/or After Effects also a plus)

·         Passion for telling stories in sports (familiarity with soccer and Sporting Kansas City a plus)
