Video Production Intern - Atlanta United FC (Atlanta, GA)

As we work towards the Inaugural Season for Atlanta United in 2017, we are hiring a Video Production Intern who will assist with daily video production for Atlanta United’s digital media distribution channels. The position will report to the Digital Video Producer. At the conclusion of this internship, interns will have a deeper understanding of video production for a sports club, composing shots, using Photoshop and Illustrator with After Effects, and many more useful skills.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist shooting, lighting, and editing video pieces for Atlanta United’s digital channels including behind the scenes content.

  • Assist Digital Video Producer and Manager of Digital and Social Media with various social projects and help with day-to-day data management.

  • Assist set up of press conferences and interviews with Atlanta United players and staff

  • Produce motion graphics, lower thirds, etc. to ensure high quality content

  • Monitor video analytics on all digital channels to assess what content works best on a specific channel and resonates with Atlanta United fans       

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or working towards Bachelor’s Degree

 

Required Skills

  • Ability to think creatively and work in high stress situations

  • Superior attention to detail

  • Availability to work long, irregular hours, including occasional nights and weekends

  • Basic knowledge/understanding of:

    • Adobe Creative Cloud (especially Premiere)

  • Help create, manage, and execute digital content calendar for Atlanta United social and web properties.
  • Assist Digital Content Producer with social media strategy and help with day-to-day management of official social properties.
  • Identify and analyze the dynamic range of Atlanta United audiences and share content in order to cater to each specific target audience

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Degree in Progress
  • 2+ years of experience in Social Media, Digital Media, and/or Journalism

Communications Internship - Fall/Winter 2016 - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview, IL)

The Chicago Fire Soccer Club is seeking a motivated individual to assist with daily media relations duties and game day media operations. This position is for an individual with exceptional written and verbal communications skills. The individual should possess strong time management skills and the ability to multitask.

Applicants should have a strong understanding of the Chicago Fire and Major League Soccer. 

This is an unpaid internship and is for college credit only. Proof that you are receiving credit is required. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Compilation of daily Fire coverage
  • Assist in managing Social Media results
  • Management of Fire media distribution lists
  • Research for and write press releases and other Communications projects
  • Produce Fire related content for press releases and website
  • Participate in Communications department meetings and events
  • Assisting in all aspects of press box operations on game days including press box setup, managing Media Will Call, transcribing quotes and additional duties.

Required skills

  • Strong communication skills (writing and speaking)  
  • Written and oral Spanish language skills a plus

Graphic Designer Intern - Fall 2016 - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview/Chicago, Il)

Expectations: The Intern Designer position for the Chicago Fire Soccer Club is responsible for any and all creative undertakings by the club across a variety of media including web, print, promotional items and stadium installation/environment. The intern will service all departments with any creative or design needs, from initial concepts to final production, execution and/or distribution. The Intern Designer is responsible for maintaining the visual integrity of the club as perceived by the market, and for strengthening brand presence within that market. He or she must demonstrate the ability to supply creative solutions on a daily basis to a variety of requested projects while remaining organized and on task. Internships are unpaid (except for $100/month transportation stipend) and available only to persons who will receive college or graduate level credit for their work. The Fire accepts a limited number of internships to ensure that interns gain valuable work experience.

Responsibilites:

  • Organize and manage multiple projects in various stages of progress
  • Formulate design concepts, presentations, templates, layouts, merchandise, installations and other collateral from initial idea to final execution
  • Create advertising campaigns that are followed across a variety of collateral
  • Develop understanding of target audience and market for specifically aimed marketing pieces
  • Present or pitch ideas, briefs, and concepts to various parties, in and out of house
  • Prioritize and filter work load coming from all departments through a design request form system
  • Design advertisements, print materials, still digital imaging and web graphics
  • Meet all advertising and print deadlines
  • Contribute to the invention and implementation of marketing/communications initiatives

Requirements

  • Applicants MUST receive college credit for the internship
  • Practice a professional attitude when working with outside sources (ie. publications, print partners, creative agencies, vendors)
  • Develop good rapport with other members of the Marketing Department
  • Maintain an approachable persona as well as organized and respectful communication with all other departments

Internships: Player Operations
Intern - Academy Operations (Fall 2016) - D.C. United (Washington, DC)

The Academy Operations Internship  is a part time, seasonal position, working all D.C. United Academy matches during the U.S. Soccer Developmental Academy Season.


The Event Operations staff will work closely with the Academy Director, Academy Manager and Coordinator in the logistical set-up and tear down of academy matches.  Candidates must be available to work flexible hours including evenings, weeekends, and holidays.  The U.S. Soccer Developmental Academy season runs from September  – December candidates must able to commit to the Fall Season for at least 90% of games.  All D.C. United internships are unpaid.
 


Specific tasks will include

·         Set-up break down for all Academy home matches

·         Attend Friday training sessions  to help prepare jerseys, vans, matchday items

·         Coordinate with full time staff members to ensure successful event set-up and execution

·         Adhere to a strict event timeline for matchday

·         Consistent season-long commitment is mandatory

·         Possible travel to away Academy matches

Skills

·         Previous experience in event management is ideal and a strong leadership background is a plus

·         Candidates should be very comfrotable performing physical labor activities

·         Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment

·         Strong work-ethic and proactive attitude are essential

·         Ability to life 40+lbs without strain

·         Comfortable being active, and walking for long durations

Candidates should possess a strong professional attitude, and be extremely detial oriented.  Prior event management is a plus. Applicants should be working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree with an emphasis in sports business, management, etc. Candidates receiving credit for participating in our internship program are strongly preferred. All candidates must have a valid driver’s license and complete a background check.

Description:

The D.C. United Corporate Partnership Intern will work closely, alongside front-office staff, on the relationships involving D.C. United's official Corporate Partners. Interns will gain hands-on experience in a professional setting while learning about the sport industry work environment and polishing skills learned in class. North Texas Soccer Tour: FC Dallas and North Texas State Soccer Association in conjunction with a few key sponsors have developed a mobile marketing tour that travels throughout DFW and north Texas area. We are currently looking for a students interested in participating in the execution of the tour. The tour visits approximately 50-60 events per calendar year which include soccer tournaments, league play, and various sponsor events. The tour consists of a company SUV that pulls a 24-foot trailer, a 10x10 tent and interactive inflatables. The North Texas Soccer Tour Internship will serve as an integral part of the FC Dallas strategic marketing efforts.

Members of this team will act as ambassadors for FC Dallas interacting with fans during scheduled 17 home games and at various special events including (but not limited to); player appearances, community events, media functions, nightlife appearances, and team driven events in the DFW area.


Team members will be expected to have a dynamic personality with the ability to engage the target audience in lively conversation and be able to sell FC Dallas tickets and merchandise. Members must be capable of communicating key brand messages and conversing about soccer in a knowledgeable and positive manner.
Schedule will be based around events, games, and North Texas Soccer tour dates.

Duties:

Toyota Stadium and Soccer Center is a first-of-its-kind facility located in Frisco, Texas. Toyota Soccer Center is in use over 300 days per year, showcasing a wide variety of local, regional, national and international events.


All internships for FC Dallas and Toyota Stadium & Soccer Center are unpaid internships, and must be used to receive college credit from an accredited university. The internships allow the individual to gain valuable experience with a professional organization for their future in the sports, entertainment and marketing industry. Hours can be flexible to accommodate with your school or work schedule. Some nights and weekends will be required.

Grounds: The intern will be responsible for assisting the FC Dallas Grounds department in all aspects of operation and facility management of Toyota Stadium, 17 field Soccer Complex, and surrounding landscape. Interns will gain valuable hands on experience in game operations, field maintenance cultural practices, and landscape techniques. Job Duties:

  • Work directly with Grounds department to ensure all game preparations, field maintenance, and landscaping is completed as scheduled.
  • Assist with a variety of field setups and breakdowns (benches, goals, bleachers, banners, a-frames, sideline tarps, football uprights, turf blankets, concert floor, etc.)
  • Assist with mowing, edging, weed-eating, tree trimming, plant beds, field layout and painting, field set up, etc.

Stadium and Complex Operations Internship: FC Dallas is seeking a Stadium Operations/Complex Operations intern who will work directly with the Stadium Operations and Complex Management Departments to assist with scheduling, organizing and coordinating of all events at Toyota Stadium and Soccer Center, with an emphasis on event day logistics. Event day logistics include locker room set-up, table and chair set-up, and pre-game operations. This internship is designed to give students an overall view of the daily operations of a Major League Soccer Stadium and Complex that is in use over 300 days a year.

Job Duties include:

  • Assist the Stadium Operations Department with game day operations to include set up, tear down and event management.
  • Assist with coordination among other departments to ensure that all day of game set-up, giveaways, signage, etc. are met effectively.
  • Help coordinate, plan, and oversee soccer events, concerts, tournaments & other special events at Toyota Stadium and Soccer Center.

  • Ensure that all MLS requirements & protocols are followed for all games that FCD Teams are involved
  • Assist the Equipment managers with ordering, inventorying, preparation, & distribution of all equipment for the FCD Professional & Academy Programs, coaches & staff.
  • Assist the Equipment managers in the necessary & timely preparation for all professional team practices (Field & Equipment)
  • Assisting with the set-up of daily team practice – daily distribution of practice gear for 28 players, 5 Coaches, 4 staff members and all guest players
  • Assisting with the logistics of team travel – Visa requests, team itineraries, per diem request and distribution, in-city transportation, follow-up communication with travel agents and hotels.

As a Marketing Assistant, a part-time position, you will help with community efforts and events during the season and offseason, both on game days and during team events and appearances. You will receive a behind-the-scenes look at how to execute large and small events as well as how to engage with fans and people in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area to continue to grow a fan base.

Responsibilities

-          Assist with major events in the community, including various festivals, fairs, block parties, and the Minnesota State Fair.

-          Assist with grassroots efforts in the community, including going to local businesses, bars and watch parties to pass out information and build excitement for the team.

-          Participate in fan interaction at games, including tailgate parties, as well as pre-game, halftime, and post-game promotions.

-          Leading an area on Game Day

-          Assist with other events and promotions as assigned.

THE NEW YORK RED BULLS SOCCER TEAM HAVE A DESIGN INTERNSHIP AVAILABLE FROM SEPTEMBER TO DECEMBER.  As a member of the design team, the Intern will be involved with the development and design of all needs as they relate to their accounts; including Apparel design, logo development, Poster design, outdoor signage, web development and more.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

The Event Operations Internship is designed to provide experience to students pursuing a career in event operations and event marketing. Interns focus on providing operational support for all New York Red Bulls events, and activation spaces on match day at Red Bull Arena. Event Operations Interns learn about managing operations staff and activation production timelines. Interns report directly to the Event Operations Coordinator, but also interact regularly with the entire events team in the marketing department. During the internship they are involved in all event equipment preparation, set-up, logistics, breakdown, and special operations projects for New York Red Bulls events.

Position Summary: The Performance Nutrition Intern will work closely with the Team Performance Nutritionist/Dietitian in performing a variety of tasks supporting the MLS, NWSL, USL and Pro Academy teams, as assigned. Background: With three major professional teams, Orlando City Soccer Club (OCSC) has established itself as one of the preeminent Clubs in professional soccer.

One of the leading teams in Major League Soccer (MLS), and the only MLS team in Florida, the Lions have developed a rich history and passionate following since starting in the USL in 2011. In their inaugural MLS season, Orlando City set a league record for an expansion team, drawing an average of 32,847 fans per home game – including 62,500 in the home opener – and became the fastest team in MLS history to host a half million fans. Orlando City has not only captured the passion of soccer fans in the City Beautiful, it continues to build its global brand as its matches are broadcast in 120 countries and in 30 languages.

The Orlando Pride, OCSC’s National Women’s Soccer League franchise, will begin league play in 2016 – bringing professional women’s soccer to Orlando for the first time. The team is led by renowned Head Coach Tom Sermanni, former manager for the Australian and U.S. women’s national teams.

Orlando City B (OCB) participates in the USL beginning in the 2016 season. The team plays its home matches at Titan Soccer Complex on the campus of Eastern Florida State College in Melbourne, Fla.  OCB continues the Club’s rich history in the rapidly growing league. From 2011 to 2014, Orlando City set the U.S. record for best start of any professional soccer club in its first 100 USL matches (66-12-22), winning three regular season titles and two postseason championships.

Position Summary: Orlando City SC is seeking a Merchandise Intern for the Summer 2016 semester. Interns will assist the Merchandise Coordinator and Merchandise Manager with daily duties pertaining to sales, inventory, and game-day execution.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with inventory, pricing, and replenishing stock.
  • Sell merchandise directly to the public who visit the OCSC HQ store.
  • Assist with execution of game-day run of show and presentation.
  • Participate in events, promotions, and other activities as required.
  • Fulfill internal and external merchandise orders.
  • Organize merchandise storage areas.
  • Work with Merchandise Coordinator on creative development of new products.
  • Communicate with vendors and licensees of the club and MLS.
  • Interact with clients, staff and guests in a professional manner.
  • Perform special projects and general front office duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be eligible to receive course credit for the internship.
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Sport Management, Marketing, Hospitality Management, or related field preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of soccer/MLS preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish/Portuguese preferred but not required.
  • Experience in retail or a customer service oriented position.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Available at least 10-15 hours/week.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends occasionally

Position Summary: Orlando City SC is looking for a creative and driven Digital Media Intern to assist in running the team website and more. This person will work alongside the Director of Digital Media and have a chance to learn how content management systems, web design, and web management work. At the conclusion of the internship, this person will have a working knowledge of website management and be able to pursue digital positions across many industries. Position Summary: Orlando City SC is seeking hardworking, positive and passionate individuals who wish to supplement their classroom instruction with practical experience facilitating key operational tasks associated with the production of professional soccer games. Interns will have a direct role in executing match operations such as presentation, field setup, locker room requests, etc. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to oversee back of house operations including setup/teardown, locker rooms, stadium management, etc. Interns will work under close supervision of the VP of Gameday Operations and Operations Coordinators.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with gameday/event management and set-up/breakdown for all MLS, NWSL, USL and Pro-Academy home games as assigned.
  • Arrange visiting team’s requests, working with the venue and other departments to fulfill the team’s needs.
  • Facilitate and assist with match operations, match presentation, teams and officials, etc.
  • Provide support to other events organized by the club at the venue on game days (soccer tournament, clinics, etc.).
  • Maintain all equipment and supplies in a proper working order.
  • Assist with in-office tasks when needed.
  • Execute other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • At the time of the internship, have completed at least your sophomore year at a four-year accredited college institution or be enrolled in an accredited graduate program.
  • Must provide proof that you will receive academic credit through the internship toward the completion of your degree.
  • Available for home matches and other events throughout the internship session (including evenings and weekends).
  • Ability to maintain highest level of professionalism and confidentiality within a pro-team environment is required.
  • Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented and have a strong sense of accountability.
  • Candidates should be very comfortable performing physical labor duties on a daily basis.
  • Interest and experience in competitive sports or event operations is preferred.
  • Must be able to lift 40+ pounds and stand for 4+ hours at a time.

This person will work alongside the Video Production Coordinator and will have the opportunity to learn the planning and production of all video content related to Orlando City SC. We are looking for writers with a high soccer IQ and an in-depth knowledge of the history and current standing of Orlando City Soccer Club. Applicants may be asked to complete a writing test.  

This is an internship position. Writers will be expected to attend weekly meetings, if their scheduling permits, and meet strict content deadlines. Non-local applicants will be considered under special circumstances.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Write in-depth stories, columns, and breaking news stories for Orlando City, Orlando City B, and Orlando Pride.
  • Develop story/column ideas and present them on a weekly basis.
  • Edit, fact check, and proofread your own stories as well as others.
  • Interview players and coaches following training and matches.
  • Must be able to provide or coordinate your own travel to training and matches.

 Qualifications:

  • Applicants should be working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree with an emphasis in journalism, communications or related field. Course credit for this internship is required.
  • Previous writing experience for school paper, blogs, etc.

Fall 2016 - Bethlehem Steel FC Team Operations Intern - Philadelphia Union (Chester, PA)

OVERVIEW:

Interns will be responsible for assisting the Team Coordinator and Equipment Manager in day-to-day operations as well as front office operations, games & events support. Internships with the Philadelphia Union and Bethlehem Steel FC will provide qualified interns with an assortment of valuable learning experiences.
Interns will be asked to work some nights and weekends. Applicants should be familiar with Microsoft Office and possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with all Bethlehem Steel events and programing
  • Assist with all Bethlehem Steel Games and practices
  • Assist with Front Office support

Fall 2016 - Event Operations Intern - Philadelphia Union (Chester, PA)

The Event Operations intern will be responsible for executing Philadelphia Union events including but not limited to: grassroots marketing events, corporate sponsor events, soccer schools and all Union home games. The ideal candidate is a confident, hard-working, and innovative college or graduate- level student who is interested in an opportunity to earn course credits toward the completion of their degree, while obtaining practical experience in the world of professional sports.  We have redesigned our internship program to provide valued learning opportunities, hands-on experience, and the chance to have a direct impact on professional soccer here in Philadelphia. We are looking for candidates interested in the area of Game-Day and Event Operations.  Through this internship, the intern will be introduced to the behind-the-scenes operations of PPL Park prior to and during Philadelphia Union home games and other events, such as The U on Tour.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute all grassroots marketing events including set up and breakdown
  • Assist in the promotion of Philadelphia Union events through collateral drops
  • Assist with additional promotional events as needed

Fall 2016 - Editorial Intern - Philadelphia Union (Chester, PA)

Editorial interns spend most of their time researching story leads and facts, writing, and reviewing editorial submissions. This internship is for aspiring journalists and people with a passion for MLS. Interns will be responsible for assisting the Marketing and Communication department in day-to-day operations. Additional job responsibilities could be developed around the candidates’ strengths. Interns will be asked to work some nights and weekends. Applicants should be familiar with Microsoft Office and possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research and generate content for www.philadelphiaunion.com
  • Interview players and staff for website features
  • Edit content from philadelphiaunion.com

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be currently enrolled in college
  • Have a working knowledge of soccer
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills
  • Analytic skills
  • Ability to work nights and weekends
  • Knowledge of AP Style preferred
  • Transcribe press conferences and match quotes


If selected for an internship with the Philadelphia Union the intern will be required to provide the following clearances:

PA Child Abuse History clearance
PA State Police Criminal Records Check
An FBI Criminal Background Check if you have not been a continuous resident of Pennsylvania for 10 years
Those not requiring an FBI check, and have been a continuous resident of PA for the last 10 years, must swear or affirm in writing that they have no other convictions that would disqualify them

The Communication internship is for students who are looking to enhance their public relations and writing skills in the sports industry.  Interns will be responsible for assisting the Marketing and Communication department in day-to-day operations.   • Creation of game notes for media
  • Press box runner/game quotes
  • Prepare and run press box during game
  • Retrieval of new clips
  • Assist with writing press releases
  • Assist with credentialing

Fall 2016 - Box Office Intern - Philadelphia Union (Chester, PA)

OVERVIEW:

Interns will be responsible for assisting the box office in day-to-day operations as well as front office operations and games and events support.  Internships with the Philadelphia Union will provide qualified interns with an assortment of valuable learning experiences.  Box office experience is a plus but is not required for this position. Interns will be trained on the Paciolan ticketing system and be exposed to various forms of fan services.  Interns will be asked to work some nights and weekends.  Applicants should be familiar with Microsoft Office and possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sell tickets to walk-up customers at the Talen Energy Stadium Box Office
  • Fulfill all internal and external ticket orders
  • Learn the Paciolan ticketing system
  • Prepare the box office for game day and event on-sales
  • Supervise game day sellers
  • Set up and breakdown will call
  • Provide a high level of customer service at Union home games and other PPL Park events
  • Duties and events to be assigned with other departments as needed
  • Other box office responsibilities as assigned

Fall 2016 - Graphic Design Intern - Philadelphia Union (Chester, PA)

The Graphic Design Intern will be responsible for assisting the marketing and communications department in the creation and design of all design collateral.  Interns will assist several departments as well as the front office in day-to-day operations. Internships with Philadelphia Union will provide qualified interns with an assortment of valuable learning experiences and exposure to all facets of a professional soccer team’s front office. Applicants applying for the Design Internship should be familiar with Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.  A sample portfolio will be required during the interview process.  Interns will be asked to work nights and weekends. Applicants should be familiar with Microsoft Office and possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the creation of all graphics, collateral, images and other projects
  • Create and design layout for Inside the Net, Philadelphia Union’s Official Game day program
  • Assist in updating website graphics, including banners, cover photos, web ads, etc
  • Create and compose official game day roster cards for all home, away and international matches
  • Assist with additional ads and promotional material throughout the season
  • Complete projects for various departments within the organization
  • Assist and attend occasional grassroots and promotional events and work all Union Home Games
