Finance & Administration Intern - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview, IL)

The Accounting Intern will be responsible for assisting the Finance department in day-to-day operations. The main responsibilities for this role are to provide accounting support and clerical work as needed.  Internships with Chicago Fire will offer an assortment of valuable learning experiences and exposure to all facets of a professional sports team’s front office.  Interns should be able to commit to 25-40 hours per week.   They may occasionally be asked to work extra hours during month end or possibly be asked to work nights or weekends during the regular season.  

Responsibilities:
• Assist with Accounts Payable Process
• Assist in balancing General Ledger  Cash Balance to the online bank information on a daily basis
• Assist with Accounts Receivable Process
• Assist with Monthly/Quarterly Financial Report preparation
• Assist in organizing invoices to ensure proper coding and approval
• Assist in Auditing Department Budget to Actual Expenses
• Maintain General Ledger Journal Entries and Account Payable Files
• Complete special projects and miscellaneous assignments as necessary
Qualifications:
• Currently seeking an Accounting, Economics, or Finance degree from an Accredited College or University with a minimum GPA of 3.0
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel & Outlook) required
• Strong organization and attention to detail
• Must have reliable transportation
• Previous office experience or knowledge of Sports Business a plus
• QuickBooks general ledger software experience a plus

Ticket Sales & Service Internship - Beginning May 2017 - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview, IL)

Expectations:  Is it your dream to work in the sports industry? If so an internship with the Chicago Fire Soccer Club can be the first mile of your marathon!  As an Intern with the Chicago Fire Soccer Club, you will aid the club in continuing to strive to be a premier club on and off of the pitch, you will play a large role in the achievement of this goal by executing projects and by being a part of the day to day activities of the Club.  We are seeking interns that will take steps on their own to grow and hone their craft. As an Intern you will be expected to give maximum effort every day you come to work. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Sales & Service Team with various tasks.
  • Work with the sales representatives on group sales initiatives and lead generation research.
  • Game day duties include: group data collection and operational duties.
  • Attend Chicago Fire Matchdays and Events as needed
  • Assist on matchdays with groups, client interactions and youth experiences
  • Making outbound phone calls to Chicago Fire fans and prospects.
  • Data entry, filing, organization and inventory
  • Assisting other departments with various tasks
  • Assist with direct mailing campaigns 

Additional Duties: Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Chicago Fire Soccer Club from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Due to the cyclical nature of the entertainment industry, the employee may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the company. Qualifications:

  • Intern MUST receive college credit for the internship
  • Students should be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university  in Marketing, Business Administration, Information technology, Communications, Sports management or any related field

Expectations: The Intern Designer position for the Chicago Fire Soccer Club is responsible for any and all creative undertakings by the club across a variety of media including web, print, promotional items and stadium installation/environment. The intern will service all departments with any creative or design needs, from initial concepts to final production, execution and/or distribution. The Intern Designer is responsible for maintaining the visual integrity of the club as perceived by the market, and for strengthening brand presence within that market. He or she must demonstrate the ability to supply creative solutions on a daily basis to a variety of requested projects while remaining organized and on task. Internships are unpaid (except for $100/month transportation stipend) and available only to persons who will receive college or graduate level credit for their work. The Fire accepts a limited number of internships to ensure that interns gain valuable work experience.

Responsibilites:

  • Organize and manage multiple projects in various stages of progress
  • Formulate design concepts, presentations, templates, layouts, merchandise, installations and other collateral from initial idea to final execution
  • Create advertising campaigns that are followed across a variety of collateral
  • Develop understanding of target audience and market for specifically aimed marketing pieces
  • Present or pitch ideas, briefs, and concepts to various parties, in and out of house

Communications Internship - Winter/Spring 2017 - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview, IL)

The Chicago Fire Soccer Club is seeking a motivated individual to assist with daily media relations duties and game day media operations. This position is for an individual with exceptional written and verbal communications skills. The individual should possess strong time management skills and the ability to multitask.

Applicants should have a strong understanding of the Chicago Fire and Major League Soccer. 

This is an unpaid internship and is for college credit only. Proof that you are receiving credit is required. 



Primary Responsibilities

  • Compilation of daily Fire coverage
  • Assist in managing Social Media results
  • Management of Fire media distribution lists
  • Research for and write press releases and other Communications projects
  • Produce Fire related content for press releases and website
  • Participate in Communications department meetings and events
  • Assisting in all aspects of press box operations on game days including press box setup, managing Media Will Call, transcribing quotes and additional duties.

Required skills

Operations Intern - D.C. United (Washington, DC)

Description

 
D.C. United Operations interns will report directly to the Operations Coordinator.  They will also function in a support role to the Director and Manager. Specific tasks will include various event management duties, set-up/breakdown of all D.C. United home matches, office maintenance, and other event/facility operations needs.


Primary Responsibilities:

Duties will include assisting with event management, set-up/breakdown for all D.C. United home matches, office maintenance projects, and various other operations responsibilities. Other responsibilities will include assisting in the maintenance of company vehicles, facility repair requests, equipment storage and inventory, as well as supporting the management of the D.C. United volunteer team consisting of 50 volunteers.  Interns will also assist with accreditation of matchday personnel, occasional first team operational needs, and management of other event staff.

Supportive functions include the planning, logistics, and execution of employee training programs. Interns can also expect to complete various physical labor tasks related to overall daily operation of the club, including event setup/breakdown and other logistical needs related to D.C. United events at RFK Stadium, as well as other nearby venues.


Requirements:

  • Candidates must be available to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Applicants available to commit full time are preferred, but part time candidates will also be considered.
  • Candidates should be very comfortable performing physical labor duties on a daily basis.

Background: Reporting to the Director of Soccer Strategy, this voluntary opportunity will give the right candidate a fantastic opportunity to gain invaluable experience within a professional environment,providing essential transferable skills within a competitive industry.

Position Summary:The Performance Analysis Intern is responsible for the coordination of video capture and delivery services within the Soccer Operations Department. The role includes videotaping of training/games, preparing pre and post-matchhighlights for upcoming opponents,as well as assisting in research into the ongoing advancement of video analysis techniques and processes. The Performance Analysis Intern will report to the Director of Soccer Strategy.

 Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assists in preparation and databasingof all training sessions and games as requested by coaching staff.
  • Coordinates the filming of all training sessions for breakdown and analysis.
  • Edits training and game film for player and coach feedback.
  • Maintains video library, equipment and supplies. Performs routine maintenance as needed.
  • Working in collaboration with other performance staff in centralizing all performance data and creating daily reports.
  • Researches new technology and process enhancements, as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Background in video production, broadcast, film or related field preferred.

Youth Soccer Coach & Operations Intern - D.C. United (Washington, DC)

JOB TITLE: Youth Soccer Coach & Operations Intern

DEPARTMENT: Youth Development

REPORTS TO: Manager, Camps & Training Programs

SUMMARY:  The 2017  Summer Camp Coaching & Operations Internship Program is an opportunity for an individual excited about youth soccer development, coaching and operations to immerse themselves into D.C. United’s Summer Soccer Camps at RFK Stadium. The individual will work closely with the camp site director and the Manager, Camps & Training Programs. The primary role will be in assisting coaching staff with on field coaching as needed by any lead coach, equipment preparation and additional responsibilities listed below.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coaching
• Help lead coach and provide coaching and positive feedback to youth players

• Understand the topic for each session and be prepared to provide coaching based on coaching points


Operations
• Assist site director in setting up camp and closing camp each day
• Help with registration on Mondays per site director’s direction
• Organize session (cones, balls, pinnies) for lead coaches
• Help organize the youth players with the coaching staff to and from the stadium for events (lunch, locker room tour, team store trip, stadium tour, first team training, etc).

EDUCATOIN AND EXPERIENCE
• Youth coaching experience

• High School or College playing experience preferred but not required
• Minimum “E” Coaching License or equivalent preferred but not required

• Experience in childcare preferred but not required

• CPR/First Aid certification strongly preferred

PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES
• Punctual, dependable, positive attitude, high energy, respectful, responsible, fun, effective communicator

• Enthusiasm for the game, youth development, coaching, mentorship, learning, guidance for youth

Academy Operations Internship - D.C. United (Washington, DC)

Academy Operations Internship

The Academy Operations Internship  is a part time, seasonal position, working all D.C. United Academy matches during the U.S. Soccer Developmental Academy Season. 
            The Event Operations staff will work closely with the Academy Director, Academy Manager and Coordinator in the logistical set-up and tear down of academy matches.  Candidates must be available to work flexible hours including evenings, weeekends, and holidays.  The U.S. Soccer Developmental Academy Spring season runs from  February  – June candidates must able to commit to the Fall Season for at least 90% of games.  All D.C. United internships are unpaid.

Specific tasks will include

  • Set-up break down for all Academy home matches

  • Attend Friday training sessions  to help prepare jerseys, vans, matchday items

  • Coordinate with full time staff members to ensure successful event set-up and execution

  • Adhere to a strict event timeline for matchday

  • Consistent season-long commitment is mandatory

  • Possible travel to away Academy matches

Skills

  • Previous experience in event management is ideal and a strong leadership background is a plus

  • Candidates should be very comfrotable performing physical labor activities

  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong work-ethic and proactive attitude are essential

  • Ability to life 40+lbs without strain

  • Comfortable being active, and walking for long durations 

Candidates should possess a strong professional attitude, and be extremely detial oriented.  Prior event management is a plus. 2017 Team Toyota Stadium - Game day Grounds crew - FC Dallas (Frisco, TX)

FC Dallas and Toyota stadium are looking for individuals to work on an as needed basis during the 2017 FC Dallas Soccer season.  The Game day Grounds  team will be responsible for the set-up and tear down of the field equipment  for events held at Toyota Stadium, mostly FC Dallas Home games.

Duties:

  • Perform all tasks involved in field preparation for FC Dallas and Toyota Stadium events. This includes lifting, carrying and placement of items for setting up the field to include goals, flags, field boards and other items.
  • Assist with placement of the Advocare banner at mid field before the game and during half time.
  • Practice safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.
  • Perform all tasks involved in breaking down after each event. 

Requirements:

  • Ability to work varying shifts, to include nights, weekends and holidays.  Each shift will range from 5-6 hours for FC Dallas games.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions to include extreme heat or cold.
  • Perform manual labor 
  • Ability to effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing in excess of 80 lbs with assistance from other members of the team.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

FC Dallas Youth has over 100 boys and girls Select teams ages U11 to U19 with over 2500 players. Teams are located throughout the Dallas area and play at all levels including Divisions I, II, and III in classic league and lake highlands girls classic league, as well as in Plano and Arlington. Our teams continue to excel both locally and nationally. FCDY players represent our program in the most prestigious programs including (but not limited to) ODP, id2, ECNL, Development Academy, various National Teams, and have also been drafted to play professionally both here in Dallas, and for International Clubs worldwide.

All internships for FC Dallas Youth are unpaid internships, and must be used to receive college credit from an accredited university. The internships allow the individual to gain valuable experience with a professional organization for their future in the sports industries. Hours can be flexible to accommodate with your school or work schedule. Some nights, weekends and holidays will be required.

FC Dallas Youth Club Internship: FC Dallas Youth is seeking an intern to assist the FC Dallas Operations Manager with all aspects of preparation and execution of the 2017 event season. 

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the execution of the tryouts 
  • Creation of player packets for all players trying out
  • Creation of manager books for all team managers
  • Assist with all coach/manager meetings
  • Assist with preparation and collection of Team Fact Sheets
  • Prepare Team Files and Folders
  • Coordinate Uniform Fittings

Minimum Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive and work well under pressure
  • Detailed-oriented and organized
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

FC Dallas Youth Player Development: This internship will work directly with the Director of Juniors Player Development to facilitate the FC Dallas School of Excellence soccer camps. FC Dallas School of Excellence programs are specifically designed for players and coaches to develop solid fundamentals of soccer in an educational, structured, energized and professional manner at one of the best soccer complexes in the country.

Duties include:

  • Assist the Juniors Player Development department in marketing, administration, scheduling, and facilitation of events including soccer camps, soccer clinics and coaching education sessions.

Requirements

  • Must have previous experience playing Soccer
  • Must hold a valid driver license and clean driving record.
  • Must be detail oriented and possess a working knowledge of the internet, MS Word, MS Excel and previous database experience.
  • Ability to work in outside weather conditions to include hot, humid and wet conditions.
  • Ability to work around children ages 6-16 years of age.

Stadium and Complex Operations Internship: FC Dallas is seeking a Stadium Operations/Complex Operations intern who will work directly with the Stadium Operations and Complex Management Departments to assist with scheduling, organizing and coordinating of all events at Toyota Stadium and Soccer Center, with an emphasis on event day logistics. Event day logistics include locker room set-up, table and chair set-up, and pre-game operations. This internship is designed to give students an overall view of the daily operations of a Major League Soccer Stadium and Complex that is in use over 300 days a year.

Job Duties include:

  • Assist the Stadium Operations Department with game day operations to include set up, tear down and event management.
  • Assist with coordination among other departments to ensure that all day of game set-up, giveaways, signage, etc. are met effectively.
  • Help coordinate, plan, and oversee soccer events, concerts, tournaments & other special events at Toyota Stadium and Soccer Center.
  • Facilitate any visiting team’s needs; oversee all specific requests, working with various departments to facilitate those requests.
  • Facilitate requests made by front office staff, vendors, League officials and others as needed.
  • Developing timelines, itineraries, and checklists prior to events.
  • Assist with compliance in accreditation and parking for Staff and Volunteers.
  • Coordinate pre-game events on the field in accordance with MLS rules and regulations.
  • Resolve customer service issues or work with supervisors if unable to do so alone.
  • Observe complex fields to ensure safety procedures, security procedures and equipment usage procedures are followed.
  • Update & maintain schedules for staff, complex and field usage
  • Develop and maintain all proper documentation & files for events
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Ticket Operations - The FC Dallas Ticket Operations Internship was designed to give college students the opportunity to develop valuable skills and gain firsthand experience in the professional sports industry. During the Internship program, participants will be supervised by the Ticket Operations Director and Box Office Manager for FC Dallas and Toyota Stadium. The intern will learn all aspects of the coordination and administration of Ticket Operations, Box Office, and Game Day Operations. This internship is designed for college students who are interested in pursuing a ticket operations career in the sports industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with daily correspondence to FC Dallas and Toyota Stadium guests
  • Assisting in any ticketed concerts, special events, and promotions held at Toyota Stadium

  • Perform necessary & required Laundry duties pertinent to the Professional Program, Academy Teams, Coaches, & Staff needs (Gear, Uniforms, towels etc.)

  • Receiving, cataloging and distribution of all new incoming team gear. Preserving and cataloging all archived team gear.

Position Summary: Orlando City SC seeks a highly motivated individual capable of assisting the Community and Foundation Relations Department with managing and promoting community development initiatives. OCB Performance Analysis Internship (2017) - Orlando City Soccer Club (Orlando, FL)

Department: OCB Performance Analysis Internship 
Reports to:  Head of Performance Analysis

Background: After winning three USL-Pro Championships over a four-year span, Orlando City SC quickly set the standard for professional soccer clubs, both on and off the field, and was awarded the 21st franchise in Major League Soccer (MLS) on Nov. 19, 2013. The Club began MLS play in Central Florida in 2015, setting league attendance records for an expansion side in its first season and has welcomed over 60,000 fans for consecutive season-opening matches in 2015 and 2016. The Lions, who currently hold the second highest average attendance in the league, will begin play in a privately funded, state-of-the-art downtown stadium in the 2017 MLS season.

Position Summary: The Orlando City B Performance Analysis Intern will be responsible for providing pre and post match analysis for Orlando City B team. You will work directly with the Head of Performance Analysis and the Orlando City B Head Coach to complete daily responsibilities involving the needs of the club’s coaches and players.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Film all home games.
  • Provide post-match analysis of both home and away games.
  • Provide pre-match analysis on all USL games.
  • Assist with the maintenance of Globall Coach (Online Software).
  • Maintain a training database with animations and video for Orlando City B.
  • Support the First Team, Orlando Pride and Academy performance analysts.
  • Execute other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • At the time of the internship, have completed at least your sophomore year at a four-year accredited college institution or be enrolled in an accredited graduate program.
  • Must provide proof that you will receive academic credit through the internship toward the completion of your degree.
  • Available for home matches and other events throughout the internship as needed (including evenings and weekends).
  • Willingness to work irregular hours corresponding to MLS, USL and NWSL schedules.
